More than News “The Way” “The Way” is the title of this year’s Lenten Study. It is written by well known Author Adam Hamilton, Pastor of the Church of the Resurrection. This Lenten study follows Jesus through his ministry up until the day of our Lords resurrection. “The Way” begins with Jesus’ baptism in the Jordon River. It is here that we find why Jesus was baptized and see the Jordan River where Jesus was most likely baptized. Then we follow Jesus up the mountains and visit the most likely place of his temptation. We learn why Jesus was tempted and what it means to us. The second week we turn to Jesus’ healing ministry in Capernaum. We will talk about what happened in Capernaum and the people Jesus healed. We will talk about how God heals today through Jesus. The third week we will turn to Jesus Teaching in the mountains. We will learn of how Jesus taught and what his main theme was as he taught about God and his love for mankind. In Chapter four we will explore the miracles of Jesus such as the calming of the storm. Jesus did things no one ever did. His miracles displayed God power working through Jesus. During the fifth week we will turn to Jesus’ ministry to the sinner, outcast and the poor. Jesus’ love for those who needed God the most was compelling and showed the disciples what their ministry would be in the future. In the sixth week will follow Jesus through his last week of life on this earth. This chapter will help us understand what Jesus and the disciples went through during Jesus last week on earth. I look forward to Walking in the Foot Steps of Jesus during Lent. As we read the Bible and the “The Way” Book , my prayer is that we will become closer to Jesus. Let us join “The Way” as we walk in the foot steps of Jesus. Your Pastor, Terry

Thank you to those special people who volunteered to ring bells during the Christ-mas season: Jennifer Clark, Erin Albright, Rachel Hadsall, Tess Anderson, Karen Cather, Kathy Stewart, and Innslee Albright. Besides juggling schedules for practices and performances, they bravely tried new arrangements and experimented adding bells to the hymns. It is our hope that the ringing of the bells added to the joy of Christmas.
News about your Health
Expansion of Tamiflu Use in Babies
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has ex-
panded the approved use of oseltamivir (Tamiflu) to in-
clude babies as young as two weeks who have had flu
symptoms for no longer than two days. Tamiflu is an anti-
viral medication that can shorten the duration of flu symp-
toms, and may reduce the risk of complications and death
from the flu, when it is taken within 48 hours of the start
of symptoms.
Tamiflu is the only medication approved to treat flu infec-
tion in children younger than one year, providing an im-
portant treatment option for this vulnerable population.
Children younger than two years are at higher risk for de-
veloping complications from the flu, with the highest rates
of hospitalization in those younger than 6 months.
It is important to understand that Tamiflu is not a substi-
tute for the annual flu vaccine. Although babies younger
than six months are unable to receive the vaccine, the Cen-
ters for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recom-
mends all persons six months of age and older get vacci-
nated against the flu virus.
Tom McKnight, the faithful caller for choir, has decided to retire from some of his many responsibilities. The choir is setting up an email and text message plan to replace Tom. Please let Curt know if you prefer to receive messages through email or text. Choir practice is 9:15 Sunday morning. Please consider sharing your musical talent with the choir and the church.
It is a new year – are you looking for something new to do?
The Prayer Shawl group meets every Tues. at 4:30 in the Bride’s room for crocheting, knitting and conversation. You can work on your own project or create a shawl.
Currently the group is trying to make enough shawls to present one to everyone in ACCC. Wouldn’t you like to join us?
Also Coming Are you ready for a “Crafternoon? ”Be watching for times and details. Crafternoons will be a fun time to get together and craft once a month. Learn something new or create a gift. February’s crafternoon will be Make a Ruffle Scarf . March’s crafternoon will be Floral Arranging. There may be some costs for some crafternoons. Do you have a talent or craft idea you would like to share at an upcoming Crafternoon? Contact Karen Cather.

The song “We are the Church”, reminds us that the church is not a building but the church is a people. Anthony UMC is responsi-ble for worship services at Country Living, Home Comfort., and ACCC on a rotating basis with other local churches. Several of our members live in each of these facilities. Please consider joining Pastor Terry and Mar-tha at these worship services. The next scheduled date is Wednesday, March 6, Home Comfort 3:00 and ACCC 4:00. The dates will also be posted in the bulletin, newsletter and on the screens. Special thanks to Kathy Francis, Don Jensen, and Pat Bertholf for participating in January’s Country Living service.
Good things need help! The Open Door Community Food Ministry was blessed to receive over 69,000 pounds of food donations during the holidays. Many families re-ceived turkeys and holiday food items. The New Year is here and the need is still great. Food do-nations at the Community Food Ministry are low during this crucial time of transitioning into the New Year. We are asking churches to give the fol-lowing: Canned Vegetables, Canned Fruit, Canned meat (tuna, chicken), Canned or Dried Soup, Cereal, Oatmeal, Boxed Dinners (hamburger/tuna helper), Pasta Dinners (mac & cheese), Boxed In-stant Potatoes. Each month our church and the Kiwanis pass out food for about 25 families here in Anthony. Next week we will have boxes by the doors for you to place food items. The van will go to Open Door on February 8, 2013 to take food we donate and pick up packages of food for us to help our local people.. Many thanks for your generosity! Pastor Terry

IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR THE NEWSLETTER
Due to the ever changing postal regulations, the AUMC will no longer be able to bulk mail our monthly newsletters. The post office is requiring a heavier grade paper which will increase the cost of mailing significantly. The change to 40 lb. paper is not only cost pro-hibitive, but does not come in the size we currently use to print on and likely will not feed through our older model copy machine. Please call or email the church office with your email address so you can receive the newsletter in that format ( 842-5486 or [email protected]) Those without computers or internet access will continue to receive the newsletter, just in a slightly different for-mat. Currently, the AUMC does not have enough households receiving the newsletter by mail so the mailing list is “padded” to meet the 200 addresses necessary to qualify for bulk mailing. Almost 20 of the newsletters are addressed to the AUMC so we meet the required 200 addresses. By emailing the newsletter, the AUMC would save almost $1200 a year. As always, the newsletter will be available in the church office and at the entrances of the church. Please be good stewards. Save a tree, save some postage and receive your newsletter by email if possible.
