Auston has glorifi ed in it’s role as a tight-knitted, industry-focused,

urban institute which has consistently provided mainstream courses.

Condusive and vibrant, set in the heart of Singapore, Auston has

remained resolutely specialised in Engineering, Management,

and Info-Technology concentrating on the top-up

degrees which have served it’s graduates so well in

the employment market.

Its strategy up to 2012 however, aims for ‘sustainable regional expansions’

and the introduction of ‘To-Market’ expansions instead of the heavy

reliance on international student populations at the home campus

in Singapore.

Auston has maintained it’s position as one of the top schools in Singapore

after successfully achieving their CaseTrust, ISO and Singapore Quality

Class for Private Education Organizations, all renewed in late 2009.

Congratulatory Message from our Dean

I must congratulate you all for having gone through very tough courses and graduated from Auston Institute of Management. We have introduced you to up to date modules, and exposed you to our dedicated teaching staff who care for you. Now it is up to you to face the real world outside on your own. The working world expects you to perform on the tasks at hand, many of which are often simple and straight forward, but you are expected to learn fast on the job. I once met one of our brightest graduates, two weeks into his fi rst job, he complained to me of the unreasonableness of his engineering manager, who scolded him for standing in the production line reading the instruction manual of a certain new production process. A few months later, the same engineering manager told me how well this graduate had fi tted into his job. When told of this compliment, this graduate told me, “Sir, we have to learn very fast on the job, otherwise we get the sack!” It has been said that the best graduate is not the fi rst class honours holder but the more humble graduate who continue to learn after graduation. Technology changes very fast; If I do not continuously learn after my graduation, I would be hopelessly lagging behind instead of being the Dean. You must have made many friends at Auston Institute of Management. Many of you will go on different paths in your life, but you must consciously try to get in touch with them for you can always count on their support. The Chinese have a saying: “At home you depend on your parents, but away from home you depend on your friends.” Lastly you must not forget your parents who made your glory in this graduation possible. I remember when I fi rst received my salary, I gave the fi rst month’s salary to my mum, who was very moved by my gesture and told me that she would keep the money for me. May I wish you all the very best in your career, but when you achieve great success, do not forget to repay back to society who makes it all possible for you.

award ceremony at Auston and join with you to celebrate and recognise the success and hard work of these Auston students.

Today marks the end of one of life’s great journeys. The past few years of hard work have all led to this gratifying moment. As you, the graduation class of 2010

await the new adventure of what tomorrow will bring, it is important that you share a moment to refl ect on your journey.

Many of you will have juggled your studies with full-time or part-time work and family commitments. Your degree may be the starting point for your career

ambitions with your current employer, or it may take you in a new direction. You will embark upon your future with a well-deserved award, which will no doubt be

valuable in this current economic climate. Your degree has helped prepare you for the demands of the future and has encouraged you to continually drive for achievement. I am sure this award ceremony marks the fi rst of the many great

accomplishments you will achieve in your life.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank on your behalf parents, relatives, friends, colleagues and Auston’s staff who have all made a valuable

contribution in helping you to achieving your award, and who join with us to celebrate your success.
