I’m sure you heard the big ‘crunch’ from our oval yesterday as our school participated in the Big Vegie Crunch. It was fantastic to see the healthy food being consumed - well done everyone! I’m hoping to see as many families tonight at Flip Out for the P & C’s first fundraiser for the year. There will be a bbq and cakes to purchase as well. See you there! We have had great success at the district and mid north coast swimming carnivals over recent weeks. We certainly have a talented group of swimmers! Our school was the champion school at the district carnival - what a great achievement! Good luck to all swimmers who have qualified for the north coast carnival next week. This week, I participated in an Education Roadshow that was delivered by Mark Scott, Secretary NSW Department of Education, Murat Dizdar, Deputy Secretary and Georgina Harrisson, Deputy Secretary. Principals and Directors from the North Coast gathered to discuss the Department of Education’s Strategic Plan and for us to provide feedback about the needs of our schools. It was pleasing to participate in a transparent and open forum. Our Strategic Plan for 2018-2020 is close to being finalised and will be released to the community before the end of this term. Staff have been meeting with me over the past two weeks, discussing their 2018 Performance and Development Plan. Teachers identify professional goals, identifying relevant professional learning and discuss what evidence we can gather to support the achievement of the goals. As part of my performance and development plan, my role as an instructional leader will be to support and guide staff and students in the classrooms. I’m looking forward to having an increasing presence in all classrooms this year and beyond. Have a great weekend. Brad Lyne - Principal PBL This fortnight, our PBL focus is 'Being a Learner'. Our Stage 3 leaders did another amazing job on Monday teaching the younger grades what Learners do. The lesson explored knowing your learning goals, following a path to success and sharing and celebrating success. At our assemblies, one student from each class will receive the PBL Learner award for demonstrating the qualities of a Learner. Assessment and Reporting This week students in Years 1 to 6 received Feedback on Student Progress (pink cover sheet). This overview lets you know how your child is going in some key areas of Literacy and Numeracy and provides some ideas on things you can do at home to support your child in these areas. As always if you have any questions about this feedback sheet please contact your child’s teacher. Primary Assembly Week 3 Class Awards Congratulations to the following students for their fantastic efforts at school.

Bingo Tuesday’s, at 7.00pm, eyes down at the Coffs Ex Services Club. Tuesday, 6th March - Team 4 - Penny Smith and Kristy Watson Tuesday, 13th March - Team 1 - Trudy Jeffery, Sandra Jeffery and Lisa Townsend Clean Up Australia Day – Sunday 4 March Clean Up Australia Day is an opportunity for all Australians to bring family, friends, neighbours and colleagues together to take action to protect their local environment by removing rubbish before it damages our precious parks, bushland, waterways and oceans. “Signing up for 2018 Clean Up Australia Day is the ideal way for every Australian to take a positive position - lots of small actions like picking up local rubbish can help reduce the 8 million tonnes of plastic entering oceans worldwide each year,” said Ian Kiernan AO, Chairman and founder of Clean Up Australia. Visit www.cleanup.org.au to find a clean-up site near you, or to register your own site. Today, all classes at Boambee Participated in ‘Clean Up Schools Day’. We joined thousands of students around the country to clean up our school. Each year group was allocated the area around their own classroom, as well as a communal space to clean up.
