Mrs Murray visited some classrooms and spoke to teachers about some of the quality processes we have in place at Boambee, in terms of what we teach, how we teach, formative assessment, reporting, mentoring among other things! Mrs Murray will be back in Week 10 of the term to observe how we are using technology in the classroom to engage students. This follows on from a recent visit from a Curriculum Advisor and Teacher Quality Advisor, who took video recordings of our Quality Teaching Rounds, which occur weekly for our staff. Our model of implementation where teachers participate in cross stage rounds on a weekly basis is recognised as best practice and we’re proud to be leading the way in this initiative. Some fantastic news for Mrs Ferguson who was successful at a recent merit selection process. Mrs Ferguson is the new Assistant Principal at Sawtell PS and will commence duties in Term 3. We are thrilled for Mrs Ferguson and congratulate her on a well deserved promotion. We will continue to work together as part of the Bongil Bongil Community of Schools. Miss Franco will teach 1F for the rest of the year. Mrs Booth will continue on 3BF and a selection process is almost complete to determine who will share the class with Mrs Booth. With only two weeks of the term left, we have Term Summary Reports and Semester Reports being completed by the teachers. We’re looking forward to sharing the progress of your children with you although most of you who are on Seesaw know exactly what your child/ren can do! I’m looking forward to the Athletics Carnival and our NAIDOC Week activities in the last week of this term. Our school vision and new PBL signage has been erected and it all looks amazing - thanks to the PBL team, led by Mr Schultz for their wonderful work in implementing PBL across our school. Seventeen students recently participated in the Coffs Harbour Primary School Chess Competition at Bishop Druitt College, competing against other schools in the area. Boambee Public School had four very competitive teams playing in both the B and C Grade Divisions. A big congratulations to Hayden Brown, Poppi Hudson, Samuel Ablett and Billy Chubb on winning their C Grade Division – a fantastic effort! Well done also to all our players for displaying such respectful and positive behaviour throughout the day. Your encouragement and support for one-another was wonderful to see. Kindergarten went on an excursion to the National Marine Science Centre as a follow up to our science unit. Kindergarten learnt about the marine animals that live in the oceans around Coffs Harbour and how to look after our marine environment. We got to touch rock pool animals, learn about and see various marine animals and talk about the effects of plastic on our marine environments. Winners of the Library Poster Competition!
