Any dam-ages to the rooms or common areas will be billed to the individual responsible. The band director reserves the right to send home (without refund of fees and via parent transport) any student who fails to follow rules or accept supervision . The following activities are expressly prohibited at band camp: • Hazing of any sort • Pranks/Practical Jokes • Vaping, smoking, drugs, alcoholic beverages • Leaving rooms after lights-out • Leaving the camp grounds • Accepting visitors to the camp • Rude behavior to any camp employee, staff, or

chaperone Additional rules include: • Rooms and meeting areas will be kept clean. • Members must attend all meals and evening

activities. • Females are allowed only in female

rooms, males only in male rooms.

GENERAL RULES ACTIVITIES

Camp is a place for work, but students will also have time to relax and enjoy themselves. Every afternoon (Monday-Thursday) band members will have an opportunity to swim, play sand volleyball, basketball or choose from many other activities. Nightly social events are also scheduled. Activities for this year will include skit night, campfire, staff scavenger hunt, a dance and more.

EMERGENCIES

Student cell phones are to be kept in their rooms at all times and will not be available to them during rehearsals, field time and group activities. If you need to reach your student for emergency purposes, you may call the DHS Band Camp Coordinator or camp FaHoLo, at the numbers below: DHS Band Camp Coordinator: 734-344-1787 FaHoLo (emergencies only) 517-522-6801

Students may bring snack food and drinks to consume outside of scheduled meal times. Please ensure that all snacks are stored in containers that can be sealed so as to prevent spills and an open invitation for “critters”.

As is procedure for several bands who travel away to band camp, friends, relatives and former band members are NOT to visit students at camp. The band travels away for intensive, private study and need to keep distractions to a minimum. If you have made arrangements with Ms. Yettaw to stop by camp, please note that FaHoLo will charge an entrance fee. *Special Note To Freshman Parents: Some students find being away from home difficult. If your student is struggling and calls/texts asking to be picked up before the conclusion of camp, you are strongly encouraged to resist the urge to do so. Instead, please contact Ms. Yettaw before deciding to make the trip so she can address and help your student with the issue that is troubling them. It is important that together we do everything possible to support your student and the growth that will come from persevering and finishing well. Band camp is a demanding week, but it is also filled with opportunities for fun, recreation, new friendships, group bonding, and individual growth.Ms. Yettaw can be contacted through the band camp coordinator Elizabeth Danseizen—734-344-1787
