The Word of God for Today: In the conclusion of his gospel Luke recaps some of his favourite themes. Luke had begun by calling his gospel 'a narrative of the events that have been fulfilled among us' (1:1); he concludes by having Jesus indicate that his suffering, death, and resurrection have fulfilled God's plan, as 'it is written'. The fulfilment of past promises proves the reliability of his predictions for the future, namely, the preaching of the gospel to all nations and the coming of the Holy Spirit. Similarly, the ministry of John the Baptist began with his 'proclaiming a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins' (Luke 3:3). Jesus continued this theme of John's preaching ('I have not come to call the righteous to repentance but sinners' 5:32) and now he sends his disciples to preach 'repentance for the forgiveness of sins' (24:47). The disciples' mission will proceed orderly: it will begin in Jerusalem and extend to all nations. This reflects Luke's assurance that the promises of God to the Jews have not been abandoned but fulfilled; and once fulfilled, the good news of salvation can reach out to others as well. The Word of God for Today:

In the conclusion of his gospel Luke recaps some of his favourite themes. Luke had begun by calling his gospel 'a

narrative of the events that have been fulfilled among us' (1:1); he concludes by having Jesus indicate that his

suffering, death, and resurrection have fulfilled God's plan,

as 'it is written'. The fulfilment of past promises proves the reliability of his predictions for the future, namely, the

preaching of the gospel to all nations and the coming of the Holy Spirit.

Similarly, the ministry of John the Baptist began with his

'proclaiming a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins' (Luke 3:3). Jesus continued this theme of John's

The disciples' mission will proceed orderly: it will begin in Jerusalem and extend to all nations. This reflects Luke's

assurance that the promises of God to the Jews have not

been abandoned but fulfilled; and once fulfilled, the good news of salvation can reach out to others as well. (Taken

The Holy Father’s Intentions for June Evangelization:

That priests, through the modesty and humility of their lives, commit themselves actively to a

solidarity with those who are most poor.

The month of June is dedicated to the Sacred Heart of

Jesus.

Stewardship “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.” (Revelations 22:13) This is a reminder of how we should live our lives 24 hours a day, 7 days a week – putting God first in all that we do. Not

only when I am at Mass and parish activities, but when I am in the world, at work or at school. Living gratefully and

generously is a lifestyle; it should influence how I make all

my daily decisions.
