the Liceu Opera House Barcelona, locally known as the Liceu, was founded on Barcelona’s Rambla in 1847. it is the largest horseshoe-shaped opera theatre in Europe and the second largest in the world. with its uninterrupted activity over more than 165 years, the Liceu has been a privileged spectator of some of the most crucial events of the 19th and 20th century, becoming a cultural and social benchmark in Barcelona. the multilingual tours are the perfect way to immerse yourself into the magnificence of the theatre.

the Barcelona Museum of Contemporary Art is located in the plaça dels àngels, in El Raval, Ciutat Vella, amongst some of Barcelona’s oldest streets and buildings. the museum opened to the public on November 28, 1995. the building’s architectural style has strong references to Modernism. the large (120 by 35 meters) white building has much of its southern elevation glazed, providing the visitor with views across the plaza, and allowing for an abundance of natural light to illuminate the interior galleries.

the Bellesguard house was built by Antoni gaudí between 1900 and 1909, using rectilinear forms rarely seen in his other work. His inspiration was the medieval castle of Martin i, also known as Martin the Humane, the last king of the Catalan dynasty of the House of Barcelona, who resided at Bellesguard until his death in 1410. gaudí built a castle that was a blend of Art Nouveau and gothic style and restored the ruins of the medieval palace, which are now part of the estate’s grounds. the history of Bellesguard is inextricably bound up with the history of Catalonia.
