Basic Rifle is still shooting every Friday night from 7-9 pm. We will also be having a Basic Rifle class for children and their guests. This program will go over safe gun handling, ammunition, and will teach all four shooting positions. This class will begin Friday, February 2, 2007 from 7-9:30 pm and Saturday February 3 from 9:00 am - 3:00 pm. This will be classroom work and Sunday, February 4 from 9:00 am - 1:00 pm we will be firing 22 rifles, using all four positions learned. We will also be having a sleepover on February 16 from 7:00 pm until February 17 at noon. Friday night we will be shooting archery and 22 rifles. There will be pizza, snacks, and movies on Friday night. Saturday from 10:00 am until noon we will be shooting muzzle loader and trap shooting, weather permitting. There will also be breakfast on Saturday morning. The cost for the sleepover is 15.00 per person. Parents and guests are welcome. You do not have to be a club member to enjoy the fun! If interested in any of these upcoming events, please call Brian Heebner at 215-773-9329 or Kevin Riley at 215-343-2703. The next general meeting we will be handing out trophies for the children that passed the marksmanship test. This meeting is on December 28, 2006 at 7:30 pm. ARCHERYARCHERY

Welcome to 2007, another start to a great year. We will continue to shoot 3-D throughout the winter. I hope that this yearʼs hunting seasons were good to everyone, please check the calendar for dates. During the winter, we will also hold an indoor 600 Vegas round indoors in conjunction with our 3-D shoots. The cost for 3D is $8 for adults and $4 for children under the age of 16. The indoor round cost will be $5 for all.

A few changes for this year, we will hold 3-D shoots on the 2nd Sunday of each month, starting in March we will hold 3-D shoots on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of each month through September. The Mid-Atlantic Triple crown returns to us on March 25th and 26th. The fees for this shoot are $25.00 for all classes except junior classes where the fee is $10.00. In the past, this has been a trophy only shoot, this year it will be a money pay-out shoot for all classes, except junior shooters will stay trophy only.

January 9th starts the first night of indoor league shooting, cost for the league are $30.00 for members and $50.00 for all non-members. The league consist of 4 person teams shooting a 300 NFAA round for 6 weeks, then shooting 450 Vegas round for 6 weeks. A number of awards will be handed out after the league ends. Fees pay for the entire 12 weeks of league.

The practice butt area is currently under updating. We are replacing all the frames with stronger and larger face areas. We are also replacing the bow holders and the sign in board.

The walk through course is also under updating, we are replacing all the block targets with 48x48 block targets. The walk through course will remain a 14 target course.

Youth archery is going very well; we will continue to shoot indoors on Monday nights at 7 pm. As the kids be-come more proficient, we will also move them outside. Any donations of equipment or funds will not go unap-preciated. The board of directors have been overwhelming in their support of the childrenʼs program. We have currently purchased a total of 20 bows for the kids to use and enough arrows to last quite a while. It is great to see the young children out shooting and having safe fun and a little competition.

Range Rule ReminderBroadheads are only allowed on the designated target butts; anyone caught on the other butts, will be charged the $400 for the replacement of the block target and given an invite to appear in front of the board of directors.

When you renew your NRA membership if you would mention Bucks County Fish & Game club number B6311 the club will get a $5.00 rebate from the NRA. This will help with our finances. We have over 900 members that belong to the NRA. When you fill out your renewal form if you have an E-Mail address, please list it and if you are an NRA member please check the NRA box. I would like to remind all that when on the club grounds & using the ranges YOU MUST HAVE YOUR MEMBERSHIP CARD WITH YOU AND IT MUST BE VISIBLE. Have it on a neck chain, pinned on a lapel or hat. The card must be VISIBLE TO SEE. Make sure you know the RANGE RULES. NOT HAVING YOUR MEMBERSHIP CARD WHEN USING THE RANGE IS AUTOMATIC SUPENSION. All four ranges have sign in sheets to use. We are having a problem with non club members using the club & using club member numbers to sign in. By signing your name we can tell if your signature does or does not match the sign in sheet... Have a safe winter. Jim and Dick

WASHINGTON

H.R. 5013/S. 2599: “Disaster Recovery Personal Protection Act of 2006”

In October, President George W. Bush signed into law the prohibition of confiscation of legal firearms from law-abiding citizens during states of emergency. This action became necessary following practices by local officials in New Orleans in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. This new law was part of the Department of Homeland Security Appropriations Bill.

As a result of the recent Federal elections, Washington D.C. will become a less friendly place for the Second Amend-ment and hunting rights. Bucks Countyʼs 8th Congressional District Representative, Mike Fitzpatrick, who has been an ardent supporter of the Second Amendment and hunterʼs rights, will be replaced in the next Congress by Congressman elect, Patrick Murphy. Mr. Murphy has received an “F” rating from the NRA for accepting contributions and endorse-ment from a national gun ban group. There will be uncertain times over the next two years and gun owners will have to watch the activities of Congress closely.

PENNSYLVANIA

The State House convened during September, in a session as a “Committee of the Whole” to consider crime-fighting proposals, has rejected every gun-control measure on the agenda including Bills to limit gun purchases to one a month and to impose a statewide ban on so-called assault weapons. Each lawmaker was given an opportunity to offer crime-fighting measures in the committee, and informal votes were taken to determine which proposals would be considered in regular session. Over the three days of debate, the House plowed through nearly 100 proposals of the crime-focused Committee of the Whole. Lawmakers endorsed many Bills toughening criminal penalties or buttressing law enforce-ment, including a plan to add up to 10,000 new police officers to local forces by 2010, with a mix of state and local funding.

Pennsylvania has reached a reciprocity agreement with South Dakota. This means that Pennsylvania and South Dakota will now honor each otherʼs concealed weapons permits. Pennsylvania now has reciprocity agreements with 19 states. They are: Alaska, Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, Montana, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont and Wyoming.

As a result of the state elections, Governor Rendell was re-elected. But more importantly, the Democrat party has won a majority, 102 to 101, of the State House seats (barring a recount of the 156th Districtʼs 23 vote Democrat majority). This may have an adverse consequence on the above-mentioned gun control efforts proposed in September under the outgoing Legislature. Governor Rendell, you may remember, has promised to support restrictions on our State Con-stitutional rights such as a “one gun a month” law, as well as preemption from the State firearms laws for Philadelphia. With a Democrat majority in the State House, and many new members, who have no recorded position on firearm issues, ominous things could happen at Harrisburg. Again, gun owners will have to watch the activities of the State Legislature closely and follow members support of Second Amendment rights as well as shooting and hunting rights.

Another causality of the new legislature could be the passage of H.B 2231 “Castle Doctrine” introduced by Represen-tative Steven Cappelli (R) Lycoming 83rd District. The legislation, if enacted, would permit law-abiding citizens to protect themselves, their families and others from intruders and attackers without fear of prosecution or civil action. Members are urged to contact their new State Legislative Representative and request that they support this important legislation.

With many new taxes already proposed by the re-elected governor sportspersons can expect to see proposals to increase the licensing and user fees for shooting, hunting, fishing and boating activities.
