Monday, December 3, 7:00pm (Author Event)NSS Beth El will host the Spertus “One Book, One Community” Author Event with Mary Glickman. The complimentary dessert reception and book signing will begin at 7:00pm; Mary Glickman will speak about her novel, One More River, after evening Minyan at 7:45pm. This event is free and open to the community. Copies of One More River and Home in the Morning, both by Mary Glickman, will be available for sale for $16. Wednesday, December 5, 1:00pm (Museum Exhibit Lecture)Explore the techniques and styles represented in the new exhibit “City of Broad Shoulders and Bright Lights: The Spirit of Hanukkah through the Eyes of Chicagoland Artists” in the Rissman Family Kol Ami Museum. Marla Hand, Curator of the Robert B. Mayer Family Collection and art history professor at Loyola University, will focus on how the elements of light and color are used to convey the sentiments of Hanukkah.

Thursday, December 6, 6:45pm (Museum Reception)Welcome the artists featured in the new exhibit “City of Broad Shoulders and Bright Lights: The Spirit of Hanukkah through the Eyes of Chicagoland Artists” in the Rissman Family Kol Ami Museum and enjoy complimentary holiday treats and wine. Following Minyan, Jane Shapiro, former Associate Director of the Florence Melton Adult Mini-School, will lead a discussion from Jewish sources on how to add more meaning to our Hanukkah rituals and celebration.For more information, exhibit hours, and to RSVP for the museum events, contact Marcie Eskin at [email protected] or 847-432-8903 x234.

Annual Used Book SaleDonations are now being accepted for the Annual Used Book Sale, February 1-10, 2013. Bring in gently used books (secular and Judaic, adult and children’s) to the Kaye Reading Room of the Gray Cultural and Learning Center. Receipts are available in the CLC. Please refrain from donating travel guides and test preparation guides that are more than 1-2 years old as well as magazines, newspapers, journals, and textbooks.

Save the Date! The 3rd Annual Havdalah, Dinner & A Movie will be January 19, 2013.

Pre-School and Camp Registration is Underway!Registration is now underway at the Paul S. and Sylvia Steinberg Pre-School for the 2013-2014 school year and for our 7 week summer camp for infants through 4 year olds. We have classes for infants through toddlers with an adult called “Small and Tall”. Pre-School begins with Adult/ Toddler and Transition classes for children 15 months old and continues through 4 year old Pre-Kindergarten.
