Costa Rican Methodist Choir On October 1 & 2, the Methodist School Choir of San Jose, Costa Rica, will perform at all worship services at Brentwood UMC as well as several other local venues including the Grand Old Opry. Members of the BUMC and Trinity Church Costa Rica Mission team met this choir this past summer and will be hosting choir members in their homes.

Listening Sessions Listening sessions are opportunities for Martin to learn more about us as a community and to hear our hopes and dreams for the church.

Red Cross Blood Drive Sunday, October 9, 7:30 am - 12:30 pmOur goal is 50 units of blood. We had a good turnout at the August 14 drive, with 56 registering to donate. We didn’t make our goal in August, but we had a tremendous improvement from the 35 units donated in June. Good work...but we still need more bodies in the chairs…please find the time to donate on October 9!

service opportunitiesRoom in the Inn Sunday School Class Coordinators Meeting Sunday, October 9, Rm A393, 8:30 – 9:30 am and again at 11:00 – 12 noon. The 2011-12 Room In The Inn pro-gram, a ministry to homeless men, runs November, 2011 to March, 2012. Each Tuesday night, some Friday nights, and Christmas Eve, a volunteer group such as a Sunday school Class, Bible Study group, or other small group, host an evening of RITI. They take the church bus to the Room In The Inn Campus (Nashville) to pick up 14 men and then come to BUMC gym for a hot dinner, a warm bed, a hot shower, clean laundry, a hot breakfast, and a sack lunch. We encourage a representative from EVERY Sunday School class, Bible Study, or small group that is interested in hosting one or more nights of RITI, to attend one of these meetings. Questions? Graceworks Food Pantry is in urgent need of items for the FUEL bags (nutritious food for weekends for students on the free/reduced lunch program). Last week Graceworks provided 211 FUEL bags to 3 elementary schools making supplies low. ITEMS NEEDED: (Individual Serving Sizes only) cereals, pudding cups, gelatin cups, 4 oz. canned fruit cups, 8 oz. shelf – stable boxed milk, tuna or chicken with crackers, microwavable individual meals such as macaroni and cheese, spaghetti and meat, snack packs containing cheese. Bring your donations to the donations bins located in the Chapel Narthex.

October MMDR Mission Trip To Haiti October 21 – 27, 2011. MMDR (Mobile Medical Disaster Relief, based here in Brentwood) is currently seeking doctors, nurses, and den-tists to complete their 20 member medical team that will provide 5 days of medical/dental clinics and work with an orphanage while in Haiti. Cost is $1,000 plus airfare. If interested in being a part of this medical team, you can apply by going to www.MMDR.org.

Friends Learning in Pairs (FLIP) needs volunteers, ages 55 & up, to tutor at-risk students in the Williamson County Schools. To learn more about this worthwhile program, contact Angie Pradat at 376-4332 or [email protected].

Monday Bread Delivery for CTSG For over a year, every Monday morning bread is donated by 3 Publix Stores for our Career Transitions Support Group Monday night at-tendees. Volunteers pick up, deliver, and set-up the bread each Monday morning between 7 - 9 am (takes approximately 1 - 2 hours). Volunteers are needed to take one or two Monday’s each month.
