BEDROCK-NEWS THE OFFICICIAL QUARTERLY PUBLICATION OF THE BEDROCK PROSPECTORS CLUB

April/May/June

MONTHLY MEETING PLACE

PUYALLUP MASONIC HALL 1005 West Pioneer Ave.

HELD ON THE THIRD MONDAY OF EVERY MONTH

7:30 pm – 9:30 pm

Well it’s that time again . Time to start planning

for a great 2015 Prospecting Season. We’re so

busy. Our Calendar takes up most of the

Newsletter. Take a look………

April

7th Board Mtg.

11th Johnnies Breakfast

If you have never been to one of our breakfast

socials, your missing out on some very fine food, a

lot of conversations with friends and just maybe

some of our most up to date club information on

special outings and events.

17 th & 18th and 19th Cashmere Gold Show

One of our favorite shows of the year folks. We

set up on fri afternoon and then spend the next 2

days promoting our club, our outings, our events

and we get to meet friends and folks we normally

don’t get to see often enough. It’s worth the trip.

April 17th Idlewilde Elementary School Outing

Here’s an outing where we have as much fun as the

kids. They love panning for gold and playing with

metal detectors. It’s just a few quality hours with

the students. Come on out and you’ll see what I

mean.

20th General Mtg.

May

1st,2nd,3rd Our Spring Fling at the beach. A nice

week end on the beach, prospecting , metal

detecting and filling our bellies. What could be

more fun.

5th Our Board Meeting

16th Saddle Mountain Rock Hunt.

A day trip to Saddle Mountain in search of Petrified

Wood. Just bring your lunch, buckets and shovels.

18th General Meeting

23rd,24th 25th Memorial Week end at the Blewett

claims. This usually a big turnout. Remember it’s

not open season yet, so bring your HPA’s and your

Gold N Fish booklet to prospect if your going into

the water. Saturday Eve. is our big Pot Luck Dinner.

Come hungry

29th Lake Louise elementary school outing

June

2n d Board Meeting

4th East Olympia Elem. School outing.

Just another great outing with the students, like

Idlewilde. We could always use extra hands. They

have a bunch of kids there.

6th Puyallup Gem and Mineral Outing

This is one outing you don’t want to miss. Bedrock

has traditionally had it’s Gold Trailer set up for folks

to experience. We could always use the help

working the trailer.

Now for those of you who havn’t been there

before. This is a Super Club who really knows

ROCKS. They will have gem polishing

demonstrations going on all day, Lots of rocks and

gems for sale in their many stands. More great

food than you could imagine. It’s just a great way

to spend a Saturday.

13th Our Rendezvous

This is our Big Season Outing at the Club. We will

have prospecting demonstrations going on all day

as well as many members selling all kinds of stuff.

Don’t forget the Great Luncheon. Feel free to bring

a desert. Club puts out the Hamburgers and Hot

dogs. This is an all day event.

15th General Meeting

20th, 21st Resource Coalition Gold Show

Thurston County Fairgrounds, Lacey Wa. Let’s all

attend and support Resource Coalition and check

out the New Show in town. Look for the flyer for

further info or check out their website.

July

7th Board Meeting

11th and 12th Natchez Outing and Clean up.

They tell me there is all kinds of special things

planned for this week end. A few events, or should

I say contests. But from what I hear, it sounds like a

full week end. A flyer should be coming out for this

date. Look for it.

20th General Meeting

25th Hansen Creek Rock Hunt

Our own Jim Curtiss leads a group up Hansen

Creek in search of Terminated crystals. Everybody

finds them. This is just a one day outing.

August

1st Blewett Opens

This means you don’t need an HPA to run your

equipment. You still need that Gold N Fish

pamphlet though.

4th Board meeting

14th,15th,16th Snoqualmie Railroad Days

This is a Huge event for the club. We were asked to

participate in this event and we will have the gold

trailer working, and maybe a whole bunch more

planned. Watch for our flyer on this.

15th Naches Claims close to open season mining.

17th General Meeting

21st,22nd,23rd Resource Coalition Miners Rally

Super event, the whole week end. Big night metal

detector hunt, lots of activities, raffles etc.

Camping spaces available.

September

1st Board Meeting

5th Blewett Week End

12th Mc Coy Creek Claims Outing’

It’s our first club trip to the claims and due to the

limited cleared areas to camp. We are advising all

members to tent it, instead of campers for this trip.

At least until we get areas cleared. This will be our

primary concern for making this week end. It’s ok,

tents are cool.. what? You don’t have a tent. Buddy

up with another member who has one.

19th Chelan Fairgrounds Metal Detector Hunt

This should be better than expected attendance

considering all the neat stuff we found last year

and only scratched the surface. If you don’t have a

machine and equipment and still want to attend,

contact me and I will set you up for the day.

21st. General Meeting

October

3rd. Blewett Week end

6th Board Meeting

19th General Meeting

This meeting is for the nomination of officers.

Thinking of stepping up and being a bigger part

of the club, We welcome you. Here’s your chance

to make a difference.

17th Blewett Week End

This week End is scheduled but we will be watching

the weather. It gets cold up there this time of the

year.

For now, that’s it folks. I know, there’s a lot

missing. But we will try our best to announce all

the Waddell Creek Trips, the detecting Buddy

Hunts and the Sportsman’s Warehouse Outings as

soon as they become solid. Just keep looking for

those flyers and peeking in on Facebook and of

course our Bedrock website for the latest events

planned.

If you have an idea on a possible outing, or even a

day trip somewhere and would be willing to help

in getting a group of our members together. Let us

know, we will post it right here. We will be happy

to help promote any new ideas from members

wanting to do something in this manor. Thanks.

In the upcoming weeks, we will be asking of members to help out with portions of our educational sessions in outings to come, such as our June Rendezvous. We need members to help teach our newer members how various pieces of prospecting equipment actually work. It wont take much time but if we can get a few to help out with this, we all benefit from your time donated. Our May outing has been a prime example of how our club excels in this area. Many who just a short time ago and didn’t have a clue to what a gold cube was, now are pulling significant amounts of fine gold off the beach and themselves are teaching others. Our club has a proud reputation of being an advocate of education in the mining and prospecting world. Let’s all try to uphold that reputation by when asked, step up and volunteer your valuable time so others may benefit from your knowledge and again, they may be able to go out into the prospecting world armed with the proper knowledge needed to find

all that gold that dreams are made of. We all have our own specific expertise. We all excel in different areas. By sharing our knowledge with one another, we make our organization truly great. Just a last note to end this newsletter…. We will , yes be having trips to Waddell Creek thru out the season and they wont be announced in the newsletter. Also , our Buddy hunts ( metal detecting outings) will be starting very soon. We will be advertising these type outings only on Facebook and by phone calls due to the last minute decision to put these days on. So it is your responsibility to keep up with when these outings will be held by periodically checking out our facebook page. You may also give you name to one of our board members to put you on the call list for any outings you are interested in. We will do our best to keep you involved. Thanks….
