Typing a letterWe will type a letter to show you how you can incorporate all the features we have studied.
This will also show you some of the formatting you must do to create a letter.

Starting Word (Review)
1. Double Click the Microsoft Word icon on the main screen

You can create professional resume with word using centering, bold font and bullets.

1. Click New document button (top left corner looks like a little piece of paper below File)

Review
1. Delete key - To erase text on the right of the insertion point
2. Backspace - To erase text on the left of the insertion point
3. To highlight text you can use mouse by holding down left button while dragging over
words or
Hold down the shift key and use the right or left arrow keys to highlight text.

Start a new page
Click the little icon below File that looks like a little sheet of paper
This starts a new blank document

Dictionary and Grammar
Word has a built in dictionary and grammar checker.
The grammar and dictionary checker can be set to your specifications in the tools menu under options.

Spell Checking
1. Click Review
2. Click Spelling & Grammar Tab
3. Click box to where it says Check Spelling as you type to take away the check mark.
4. Click OK on the bottom of window.

For spelllchecker to work you have to put a space after the end of the word. Spellchecker knows that is the end of the word.

1. Click on word you want to change it to, in this case, the word correctly (see picture to the left, where the arrow is pointing)
2. Click Change button (circled in red, in picture to the left)

3. Keep going and correcting words as you go.

Spell Checker complete
1. Once you go through all the words, a pop-up window will appear stating “The spelling and grammar check is complete.”

Adding words to the dictionary
1. Type: Linus and Lucy are brother and sostar.
2. Click on the spell check button.
3. For Linus, click Add to dictionary.
4. For sostar, find sister on the list and click change.
