E El PGOU de la discordia

Recientemente hemos conocido que la Junta de Andalucía ha echado para atrás el Plan General de Ordenación Urbana (PGOU) de Benahavís porque, según dicen, prevé un crecimiento desorbitado en el municipio. Partiendo de la base de que el pleno del Ayuntamien-to ya aprobó el documento por silencio administrativo, es hora de analizar esta y otras razones que la Administración Autonómica ar-gumenta para no dar luz verde al plan.

Como ya se ha mencionado, el principal motivo, y el que consideran más grave, es que según el Plan General que ha presentado el Consistorio, la población de Benahavís se multiplicaría por siete. Pero nada más lejos de la realidad. Y es que, la Junta de Andalucía, en concreto su área de Urbanismo, a la hora de realizar estos cálculos solo ha tenido en cuenta a los vecinos censados. Es incomprensible que en una localidad de las características de Benahavís se pase por alto y se obvie una realidad que nos dice que aquí viven, actualmen-te más de 20.000 personas. Asegura la Junta que el municipio no va a poder facilitar los suministros básicos a las viviendas que prevé el plan. ¿Y entonces, cómo lo han estado haciendo hasta ahora? Si censados hay unos 5.000 y la Junta dice que se multiplicaría esta cifra por 7, estaríamos hablando de 35.000 vecinos, tan solo 10.000 más de los que actualmente viven aquí.

También afirma la Administración Autonómica que no se han determinados los espacios verdes previstos en la legislación urbanís-tica, algo totalmente falso ya que el Consistorio se ha encargado de desclasificar terrenos cuando la Delegación de Urbanismo así se lo ha recomendado.

Pero lo más curioso, y lo que no deja de llamar la atención, es que todos estos apuntes se hayan realizado cuando el documento ya está aprobado por silencio administrativo. ¿No ha tenido tiempo la Junta de analizar estos aspectos en los cinco meses que propone la ley? Ahora ya es un poco tarde, y el Consistorio, que siempre ha mantenido buenas relaciones con el Gobierno autonómico, solo desea, a estas alturas, que la Junta publique su PGOU en el BOJA para que pueda entrar en vigor oficialmente.

Disagreements about the Urban Development General PlanIt has recently come to light that the Junta de Andalucia has done a u turn on the General Urban Development Plan (PGOU) for

Benahavis because, they have said, that it allows for an unsustainable growth in the municipality. Going on the fact that the plan was passed in the first place through a series of abstentions, it is time to analyze the reasons why the autonomous administration has decided not to give the go ahead to this plan.

As previously mentioned, the main and most serious reason is that according to the General Plan presented to the government, the population of Benahavis would multiply by seven. This is far from the truth however. It is the Junta de Andalucia, at least the Urban Development Department, who have only taken into account those residents that are on the census. It is incomprehensible that a town of Benahavis’ dimensions is overlooked and that they ignore the fact that there are actually more than 20,000 people living here. The Junta reiterates that the municipality would not be able to provide the basic infrastructure of the number of residences that the plan allows. So the question is how have they been able to manage up to now? If the census says that there are only 5,000 people living here and the Junta says that the Plan would multiply this by 7, we are talking about 35,000 residents – only 10,000 more than actually live here.

The autonomous administration also states that the green zones have not been adequately provided for, something that is totally untrue as the government has decided to declassify land that the Urban Development Department had recommended. The strangest factor is however that they have made all these points when the Plan had already been approved through abstention. Did the Junta not have time to analyze these aspects during the five months they had to look at it? Now it is a bit late and the local Town Hall which has always maintained an excellent relationship with the autonomous government only hopes that the Junta publish the PGOU in the official bulletin so it can come into effect.

Aunque para muchos tarde, el Gobierno y los bancos, así como algunas administraciones locales, han dado los primeros pasos para detener los desahucios que, en los últimos días, se han cobrado, a través de suicidios, diversas vidas a lo largo y ancho de la geografía nacional.

No obstante, las medidas no han parecido satisfacer a colectivos como Stop Desahucios, que, consideran, llegan tarde y pueden suponer ni más ni menos que una competición por ver quién atraviesa peores condiciones. Por otra parte, como han denunciado diversos periodistas, la decisión de bancos y cajas de detener los desahucios responde a una decisión estraté-gica y temporal que, como se ha podido leer en comunicaciones internas, tiene por objetivo mejorar la deteriorada imagen que merecidamente pro-yectan hacia la sociedad. Así, es cuestión de tiempo que se reanuden, lo mismo que debería serlo la aparición de propuestas eficaces para solucio-nar una situación que afecta a cada vez más personas.

Although for many people it will be too late, the Government and the banks, together with some of the local governing bodies, have taken the first steps to prevent evictions which have in recent times taken their toll, in some cases through suicides on various lives throughout the country.

However, the measures taken have not pacified groups like Stop Desahucios (Stop Evictions), who consider that the ruling has arrived too late and could mean nothing less than a competition to see who is in the worst state. On the other hand, as many journalists have reported, the decision by banks and savings banks to stop the evictions are a temporary strategy to improve their image, which has rightly deteriorated in recent years. Therefore, it seems to be a question of time before evictions start again. What we need are effective proposals to put an end to the situation which affects more and more people every day.

A demostrar la solidaridad Charitable WorksComo todos los años, y cada vez con más antelación, sufrimos un bombardeo de estímulos que,

bajo el paraguas de la Navidad, parecen únicamente invitarnos al consumo, olvidando que, ante todo, estamos en una época de compartir y disfrutar en familia, de compañerismo y de buenos momentos. También de solidaridad, de sacrificio en pos de los más desfavorecidos, de aquellos a los que el frío afectará de verdad en los próximos tiempos. Porque, como todos sabemos, son difíciles los que corren, y parece que no mejorarán en exceso por el momento. A diario nos llegan imágenes de manifestaciones por derechos perdidos o prestos a desaparecer, de desahucios, de suicidios y desgracias variadas que no hacen sino ahondar en esa tendencia.

Sin embargo, la Navidad hace, al menos en la mayoría de los comunes, que lo mejor de cada cual salga a flote. Que se olviden las penas propias en compañía de familia y amigos, en las cenas de Nochebuena y Nochevieja. Pero sin dejar de lado el recuerdo para los que sufren carencias, que desprovisto de actos en consecuencia carece de sentido. Por ello, es fundamental apoyar iniciativas como la que, con un marcado carácter benéfico, tendrá lugar el próximo día 22 de diciembre en Benahavís.

Hablamos de la I Carrera Popular de la Suerte, impulsada por el Ayuntamiento y el Club de Atletismo San Pedro. Y es que, tan sólo con un donativo o proporcionando alimentos, conseguiremos arrancar una sonrisa en algún hogar del municipio al tiempo que se toma parte en una actividad deportiva. De cualquier manera, no hace falta decir que quien lo desee puede colaborar aportando comida o dinero que irá destinado a satisfacer las necesidades básicas de estas personas, así como a la compra de juguetes. Sin duda, un elemento importante en estas Navidades que también lo son para muchos pequeños que, sin merecerlo ni saber por qué, tendrán difícil estrenar algo o siquiera alimentarse como es debido. No obstante, hay esperanza para ellos, y de ella dan testimonio tanto la labor de determinadas asociaciones como la conciencia de los vecinos del municipio, que de seguro colaborarán en la medida de sus posibilidades.

Just like other years, but this year even earlier than usual, we are bombarded with images that remind us that Christmas is just around the corner and it seems that the images are materialistic, forgetting that above all we are in the season of sharing and spending special moments with family and friends.

We are also in the charitable season, where we make sacrifices to help those in need, those who will really suffer from the cold weather. As we all know, the times we live in are difficult for many and it doesn’t seem like it will get any better in the near future. There are daily news stories of demonstrations for lost rights or benefits that are disappearing, evictions, suicides and other sad stories that just add to this trend.

However, Christmas does at least bring out the best in us. We forget about our own woes in the company of family and friends in the dinners of Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. We celebrate but without forgetting those who are not as lucky as ourselves. For this reason, it is fundamental that we support charitable initiatives, like the event taking place on the 22nd December in Benahavis.

We are talking about the 1st Lucky Fun run, thought up by the San Pedro Athletic Club. We can with just one donation of money or food raise a smile from some homes in the municipality whilst taking part in a fun sporting activity. It goes without saying that whoever wishes to help by bringing food or money can be assured that it will go to satisfying the basic needs of people who are down on their luck. Toys can also be donated.

Without a doubt, an important element of this Christmas will be for many children that through no fault of their own and without knowing why, won’t have the possibility of opening a new present or even filling their stomach as they should. However, there is hope for them thanks to the work of various associations like the one for the residents of the municipality who will surely be collaborating as much as they can.

El Ayuntamiento de Bena-havís hará valer los efectos del silencio administrativo y, en consecuencia, la aprobación de-finitiva del Plan General de Or-denación Urbana (PGOU) del municipio, interponiendo un recurso contencioso-adminis-trativo contra el acuerdo expre-so de la Comisión Provincial de Ordenación del Territorio y Ur-banismo (Cpotu) del 15 de no-viembre de 2012, según ha in-formado a este periódico el director de la oficina del PGOU, Javier Sáenz Gutiérrez.

Esta decisión se ha toma-do después de que la Cpotu de Málaga, órgano dependiente de la Administración Autonómi-ca, decidiera suspender la revi-sión del documento, por enten-der que contenía “deficiencias sustanciales”. Desde el Consis-torio aseguran que esta resolu-ción infringe la legalidad vigen-te y, lo hace en tal magnitud y extensión, que incide en nuli-dad de pleno derecho.

Y es que, el Ayuntamiento, en sesión plenaria del 15 de no-viembre de este año, acordó por unanimidad estimar que el plan general está aprobado por silen-cio administrativo, lo que signi-fica que la resolución de la Cpo-tu vulnera el artículo 32.4 de la LOUA en relación con el artícu-lo 42 de LPAC, dado que desco-noce los efectos del silencio ad-ministrativo positivo, e infringe igualmente el artículo 43.3 de LPAC, en la medida que la re-solución expresa posterior a la producción del acto por silencio “solo podrá dictarse de ser con-

firmativa del mismo.”.El Consistorio benahavileño

ha querido insistir en su volun-tad permanente de diálogo con otras administraciones, tal y como han demostrado durante todo el proceso de elaboración y tramitación de su Plan, aunque en este caso, no tienen más op-ción que acudir a los tribunales.

Límites de crecimientosTras analizar el documento, la Cpotu ha estimado que el sue-lo urbanizable propuesto en el PGOU de Benahavís supera los límites máximos de crecimiento establecidos por el Plan de Or-denación del Territorio de An-dalucía, ya que supondría mul-tiplicar por siete la población actual del municipio. De la mis-ma manera, según el organis-mo andaluz, el texto tampoco garantiza los recursos hídricos necesarios para el crecimiento propuesto.

En este informe, la Adminis-tración Autonómica, además, estima que para garantizar jurí-dicamente el plan, es convenien-te que el Ayuntamiento “corrija todas las deficiencias que afec-tan a todas las clases de suelo, para que los ciudadanos de Be-nahavís cuenten con las dotacio-nes y servicios exigidos por la ley y que el PGOU tenga así to-das las garantías jurídicas”.

En este sentido, desde el Con-sistorio aseguran que el Plan es perfectamente legal y matizan que “no tiene ninguna deficien-cia, ni sustancial ni nimia”.

Tanto es así, que el defecto grave que se achaca al documen-to se basa en una interpretación “incompatible con la lógica ur-

banística”, toda vez que la Jun-ta de Andalucía no contabiliza la población real del municipio sino únicamente la censada.

“En Benehavís tenemos alre-dedor de 5.000 personas regis-tradas, aunque realmente aquí viven unas 25.000. No hay más que fijarse en el padrón del IBI, donde existen, aproximada-mente, unas 10.000 viviendas. A una media de 2,4 personas por casa, obtenemos la pobla-ción real”, ha señalado el direc-tor de la oficina del PGOU. A esto hay que añadir que el Plan vigente, fechado en 1993 y ra-tificado en 1997, prevé la cons-trucción de 20.000 viviendas (sin hacer referencia a los servi-

cios), mientras que el nuevo re-duce esta cifra hasta las 2.000 viviendas nuevas, más 4.000 ya aprobadas. “Antes de su redac-ción final estudiamos con todas las delegaciones si existiría al-gún problema con los suminis-tros y todas señalaron que la ciudad está preparada para los 24.000 habitantes que actual-mente residen, incluyendo el agua, la basura o la luz, entre otros”, ha matizado Sáinz Gu-tiérrez. Si el PGOU de Benaha-vís se ciñera a las estimaciones de la Junta, tan solo se podrían prever 900 nuevas viviendas.

Suelo urbanizableSegún el Cpotu, el PGOU, ade-

más, presenta importantes de-ficiencias tanto en el suelo ur-bano como en el urbanizable y no urbanizable, y, añade que no determina los espacios libres previstos en la legislación ur-banística. En este sentido, las fuentes municipales han insis-tido en lo imposible de eliminar edificabilidad “porque eso su-pondría quitarle derechos ad-quiridos a los propietarios y desclasificar suelo urbaniza-ble que ya está aprobado en to-das sus facetas de gestión”. Aún así, ya se han desclasificado al-gunos terrenos en respuesta a los consejos de la Delegación de Medio Ambiente por su gran valor paisajístico.

En este mismo sentido, des-de el Consistorio han indicado que han contando con los me-jores profesionales para hacer el mejor planeamiento posible y que esto lo ratifican todos los informes sectoriales realizados por las administraciones públi-cas.

El Ayuntamiento asegura que el Plan General de Ordenación Urbana está aprobado por silencio administrativo

CrOnOLOGíA DE LOS ACOnTECImIEnTOS

La Oficina del Plan General de Ordenación Urba-na (PGOU) del Ayuntamiento de Benahavís lleva más de dos años trabajando en el procedimiento adminis-trativo y técnico de este documento y siempre lo ha hecho en base a las necesidades y características es-peciales de este municipio. Ya en el año 2010 le pre-sentaron una primera versión del texto a la Junta de Andalucía, quien hizo sus recomendaciones para que el Consistorio las incluyera en el Plan para su aproba-ción definitiva. Después de un año trabajando con to-dos los organismos competentes, los cuales informa-ron favorablemente el documento, el 20/12/2011 se hizo entrega del documento completo aprobado por el pleno un mes antes, tal y como se acordó con el jefe de servicio de Urbanismo.

Posteriormente, el 20/01/2012 la Delegación de Urbanismo emite un documento donde se le requie-re al Ayuntamiento un informe vinculante de Carre-teras del Estado, siempre advirtiendo de que el expe-diente se encontraba incompleto, por lo que el plazo de los 5 meses para resolver no empezaba a computar.

Con fecha 26/01/2012 el Ayuntamiento contes-ta ese requerimiento, demostrando que ese infor-me de carreteras sí se encontraba en el documento presentado en diciembre.

El día 8/03/2012 tiene entrada en el Ayunta-miento otro requerimiento de la Delegación en el que consideraban que “efectivamente se encon-traba la documentación solicitada en el texto pre-sentado el día 21/12/2012, por lo que el expedien-te estaba completo”, además de que se subsanen las deficiencias e insuficiencias señaladas en dicho in-forme.

El 17/07/2012 el Ayuntamiento hace entrega del documento de respuesta al informe del servi-cio de Urbanismo aprobado en sesión plenaria el 13/07/2012, dando respuesta a todas las deficien-cias e insuficiencias presentadas por la Delegación.

A partir de ese momento el Ayuntamiento no ha tenido respuesta alguna hasta el momento de la re-solución celebrada el día 15 de noviembre, por lo que cumplido el plazo establecido por la ley el Con-sistorio declaró el silencio administrativo por lo que considera aprobado el PGOU de Benahavís.

The Benahavis Town Hall will act on the effects of abstentions and, thereby, approve the definitive General Plan for Urban Development (PGOU) for the municipality, as well as file an administrative appeal against the express agreement of the Provincial Commitee for Urban Planning (Cpotu) of 15th November, 2012, according to the information given to this newspaper by the director of the PGOU offices, Javier Sáenz Gutiérrez.

This decision was taken after the Cpotu of Malaga, the office dependent on the Autonomous Administration, decided to suspend revisions of the document, on the understanding that it contained “substantial deficiencies”.

The Town Hall assures that this resolution violates the law in force and it does so to such magnitude and extent that it should be nullified.

The Town Hall, in a plenary session on 15th November of this year, unanimously agreed that the plan had been approved by abstention, which means that the

Cpotu resolution violates article 32.4 of the LOUA in relation to article 42 of LPAC, as it does not recognize the effects of the abstention, and equally infringes article 43.3 of LPAC, to the extent that the resolution drawn after the act of abstention “can only mean confirmation of said act”.

The Benahavis Town Hall wanted to emphasize their ongoing commitment to open talks with the other administrations, as demonstrated throughout the entire process of preparation and processing of the Plan, although in this case, they have no choice but to go to court.

City growth limitsAfter analyzing the document, the Cpotu resolved that the developable land proposed in the PGOU of Benahavis exceeds the maximum growth limit established by the Andalusian Territorial Plan, as this would multiply the current population by seven.

Also, according to the Andalusian organization, the document does not guarantee the sufficient water resources needed for the proposed growth.

In this document, the Regional Administration also estimates that to legitimately ensure the General Plan is appropriate for the city, the Town Hall should “correct all the deficiencies affecting all the different kinds of land, so that the citizens of Benahavis can count on the infrastructure and services required by law and that the PGOU has all the legal guarantees”.

The Town Hall insists that the Plan is perfectly legitimate and points out that “it has no such deficiencies”.

So much so, that the serious defect that is attributed to the document is based on an interpretation “incompatible with urban logic”, since the Junta de Andalucia does not look at the actual population of the municipality but only the census.

“There are around 5,000 people registered as living in Benahavis, although the reality is 25,000. You only have to look at the Property Tax registry to see that there are approximately 10,000 residences. If you calculate on average 2.4 people

per residence, we get the real population number”, as was pointed out by the director of the PGOU office. To this we have to add that the current Plan, dated 1993 and ratified in 1997, plans to build 20,000 homes (without reference to services), while the new Plan reduces this figure to 2,000 new homes, as well as the 4,000 already approved.

“Before the final draft we studied along with all the delegations as to whether there was a problem with the supplies and everyone agreed that the city is capable of supporting the 24,000 residents who currently reside, including water, waste disposal or electricity, among other supplies,” pointed out Gutiérrez Sainz. If the PGOU of Benahavis is drafted based on the estimates of the Junta de Andalucia, it could only provide for 900 new homes.

Developable landAccording to the Cpotu,

the PGOU also presents major deficiencies in both urban land as well as developable and non-developable land and, they add, it doesn’t provide the required open spaces as determined in the town planning legislation.

In response to this, municipal sources have insisted it is impossible to remove the right to build “because that would take away vested rights from the owners and declassify developable land that has already been approved in all facets of management.” Some areas have already been declassified in response to the advice given by the Department of the Environment for their outstanding landscape value.

The Town Hall has indicated that they have worked with a number of professional advisors to ensure the best possible Town Plan, as ratified by all the sector reports made by the government.

CHrOnOLOGy OF EVEnTS

The office of the General Urban Plan in Benahavis Town Hall has spent over two years working on the administrative and technical procedure of this document and has always done so based on the needs and characteristics of this municipality. In 2010 they presented the first draft to the Junta de Andalucía, who made recommendations for the Town Hall to include in the Plan for final approval. After a year of working alongside all the relevant governing bodies, who reported favorably on the document, the full version was presented on 20/12/2011 after having been approved in a plenary session a month before, as was agreed by the head of the town planning services.

Subsequently, on 20/01/2012 the Delegation of Town Planning issued a document to the Town Hall asking for a binding State Highway report, warning them that the documentation was incomplete and gave them 5 months to resolve the matter.

On 26/01/2012 the Town Hall replied to this document, showing that the report they needed had in fact been presented with the rest of the documentation in December.

The Town Hall has another document issued on 8/03/2012 stating that the Delegation “has effectively found the documentation asked for in the letter presented to them on 21/12/2012, meaning that the documentation is complete”, in addition to rectifying the deficiencies and shortcomings indicated in said report.

On 17/07/2012 the Town Hall presented a reply to the report by the Town Planning service approved in a plenary session on 13/07/2012, answering the questions raised about the deficiencies and shortcomings as stated by the Delegation.

Since that date the Town Hall had not received any reply until the resolution held on 15th November, so that with the deadline as established by law over, the Town Hall was able to consider the PGOU of Benahavis approved, due to abstention.

Benahavís cuenta, desde hace escasas fechas, con una nueva oficina de Correos que, desde la avenida de Andalucía, se encar-gará de facilitar al ciudadano el acceso a una serie de servicios que, en muchos casos, implica-ban desplazarse a otra pobla-ción. De esta forma, los vecinos de Benahavís, amén de las em-presas radicadas en el municipio, se beneficiarán de servicios como la admisión y entrega de produc-tos postales, que pueden llevar-se a cabo en esta oficina auxiliar que recientemente acogió la visi-ta del alcalde del municipio, José Antonio Mena, y del director de la zona 8 de Correos, José Luis Prados.

Dependiente de la oficina mul-tiservicios ubicada en San Pedro Alcántara, la de Benahavís, insta-lada en un local de 67 metros cua-drados que ha sido cedido por el Ayuntamiento a Correos, es asi-

mismo la oficina de referencia para todos aquellos que residen en el código postal 29679. Por ello, será el lugar indicado para la realización de trámites como la recogida de envíos avisados por ausencia del destinatario duran-te el horario de reparto, o para los envíos que carecen de entrega a domicilio, suponiendo una me-

jora notable para los vecinos más alejados del núcleo urbano.

La oficina de Correos de Be-nahavís, que se suma a la red de la Sociedad Estatal en la provin-cia de Málaga, vertebrada por 61 oficinas multiservicios y 114 ser-vicios rurales, tiene un horario de apertura al público de 12:30 a 14:00 horas de lunes a viernes.

Una sentencia de la Audien-cia Provincial de Málaga condena a cuatro años y medio de cárcel a un miembro de la Policía Lo-cal de Benahavís por apoderarse del dinero de las multas que im-ponía arbitrariamente a ciudada-nos extranjeros. Los hechos se re-montan a 2008 y 2009, cuando el acusado, que actuaba en solitario, se desplazaba a una urbanización

para sancionar preferentemente a extranjeros por aspectos relacio-nados con la normativa de tráfico. Posteriormente, cuando las mul-tas, que se situaban entre los 84 y los 90 euros, eran abonadas en metálico y en el acto por los su-puestos infractores, el agente se apropiaba del dinero.

Como queda de manifiesto en la sentencia condenatoria, las ra-zones esgrimidas por el agente de la Policía Local para imponer las

multas eran variadas. En diver-sas ocasiones se debían al uso del cinturón de seguridad, aunque en algún caso no le importó siquiera que el sancionado lo llevara pues-to. Es el caso de un ciudadano ex-tranjero que le solicitó una copia de la denuncia, lo que motivó que éste redactara una falsa en su bo-letín para entregarla a sus supe-riores. Otras veces, por el con-trario, el motivo esgrimido era el empleo del teléfono móvil.

Los vecinos de Benahavís pue-den solicitar ya en el Ayuntamiento del municipio el carné de ciudada-no, documento que abre las puertas a la obtención de beneficios econó-micos en actividades culturales y deportivas. El plazo de solicitud se mantendrá abierto hasta el próxi-mo día 13 de enero, y el trámite habrá de realizarse entregando la correspondiente solicitud en el Re-gistro de Entrada del Consistorio.

A través del carné de ciudadano, que constituye una ayuda personal e intransferible, los residentes en

Benahavís acceden a descuentos en actividades tanto culturales como deportivas. Por otro lado, su coste es de 20 euros si queremos acceder a las instalaciones deportivas mu-nicipales y disfrutar de su uso o de 10 euros si se limita sólo al acceso a las mismas. Por lo que respecta a los menores de edad, el carné ciu-dadano debe ser solicitado por sus progenitores, y tanto ellos como los mayores de edad que ya lo posean deben renovarlo anualmente entre los meses de noviembre y diciem-bre.

Benahavis has recently opened a new Post office in Avenida de Andalucia, where residents will be able to access different services which previously entailed a trip to another town. In this way, the residents of Benahavis as well as the businesses of the town will benefit from services such as the sending and collection of packets and letters, in this auxiliary office which was

recently visited by the Mayor of the town, José Antonio Mena and Jose Luis Prados, the director of Zone 8 Post Offices.

This main office for the residents of post code 29679, situated in a space of 67 square metres, donated by the Town Hall to the Postal Service, is dependent on the multi-service office located in San Pedro Alcántara. It will be the place to carry out procedures such as the collection of post that was not able to be delivered during normal delivery times or for items that do not have a home delivery. This will be a notable improvement for the residents furthest away from the town centre. The Benahavis Post Office is an addition to the State Network in the Malaga Province, which is made up of 61 multi-service offices and 114 rural services. Opening times are from 12:30 to 14:00 from Monday to Friday.

Four years for Local Policeman found guilty of appropriating money from finesTHE LOCAL pOLICEmAN fINEd fOREIgNERS fOR TRAffIC OffENSES

The Malaga Province Court sentenced a member of the Benahavis Local Police Force to four and a half years in prison for stealing money through fines arbirtrally given to foreign citizens. The events date back to 2008 and 2009, when the accused who was acting alone, visited an urbanization and fined foreigners there for traffic related offences. Later, when the fines, which were between 84 and 90 euros, were paid in the act by the supposed offenders, the policeman appropriated the money.

Part of the evidence that led to the sentence were the reasons given by the agent for imposing the various fines. On some occasions the fines were given for not wearing a seatbelt, although in some cases the drivers receiving the fine had been wearing one. If one of the foreigners asked for a copy of the fine, the accused made up a false one to hand over to his superiors. On other occassions, the reasons for the fines were said to be using a mobile phone whilst driving.

Benahavis Residents can now apply for their citizen’s card in the Town Hall. This document opens doors to a number of savings in sporting and cultural events. The application period will stay open until the 13th January. The procedure for applying for this card, is to take the corresponding

completed form to the Town Hall registry.

The citizen’s card is an individual and intransferable card that allows Benahavis residents access to discounts in different sporting and cultural events and activities. The cost is 20€ for access and use of the sporting installations. This price is lowered to 10€ if it is for access only. With regards to under 18s, the citizen’s card should be applied for by their parents and should be renewed annually during the months of November and December.

El alcalde de Benahavís, José Antonio Mena, acompañado por la presidenta de Mancomuni-dad, Margarita del Cid, el dipu-tado provincial, Ignacio Mena y la vocal de la Fundación, Pi-lar Conde, ha cerrado los cur-sos de Cocina y Sala del pasado año, en la Escuela de Hostelería de Benahavís con la entrega de diplomas a los alumnos.

En un acto, en el que los alumnos han estado arropados por sus familiares y amigos, el alcalde, ha resaltado la buena formación que han recibido en la escuela benahavileña, que ha sido complementada, no solo con las prácticas durante todo el curso en el restaurante de la propia escuela, sino con otro período en el que han adquiri-do mayor experiencia, si cabe, en los establecimientos de los mejores restauradores del país.

Mena, en calidad de presi-dente de la Fundación Hispa-

no Árabe de la Dieta Mediterrá-nea, ha elogiado la labor de los profesores “por el buen traba-jo que están haciendo en la difí-cil tarea de la formación” ya que llevan diez años preparando a hombres y mujeres que al in-corporarse al mercado laboral contribuyen a mejorar la ima-gen turística, no sólo local sino también provincial.

La presidenta de Mancomu-nidad de Municipios de la Cos-ta del Sol Occidental ha felicita-do también a los alumnos y les ha animado a afrontar con opti-mismo su incorporación al mer-cado laboral.

Los 23 estudiantes que han recibido sus diplomas pertene-cen, diez, a la Quinta promo-ción del Curso de Cocina, y tre-ce, a la Séptima del Curso de Sala.

Al término de la entrega de diplomas los nuevos alumnos de los cursos de Cocina y Sala han servido un cóctel para to-dos los invitados.

Aguas de Benahavís quiere re-cordar a los vecinos que el plazo para contratar el servicio de agua termina el 15 de diciembre, toda vez que ya se ha culminado el pro-ceso de recepción de la gestión en las urbanizaciones. Una vez pasa-da esta fecha, los ciudadanos que

no tengan formalizado su sumi-nistro con Aguas de Benahavís se encontrarán en una situación irregular y tendrán la obligación de formalizarla, ya que esta em-presa mixta (formada al 51% por el Ayuntamiento y al 49% por Aquagest) será la única encargada de la gestión y abastecimiento del agua, que hasta ahora había sido

realizado por varias empresas.Asimismo, y como consecuen-

cia de este nuevo control en el su-ministro, se han unificado las ta-sas de todas las urbanizaciones, eliminando las diferencias entre las tarifas de unas y otras. Según han señalado desde Aguas de Be-nahavís, el municipio cuenta con los precios más bajos de toda la Costa del Sol, gracias a la opti-mización de los recursos que han conseguido tanto el Ayuntamien-to como la empresa mixta.

Aguas de Benahavís wants to remind residents that the period of time for applying for water supply finishes on the 15th December as it has already finished the process of

receiving the urbanization documentation. Once this date has passed, residents who have not formalized their water supply with Aguas de Benahavis will find themselves ‘off the books’ and will be obliged to formally apply, as this company made up of 51% Town Hall and 49% Aguagest will be the sole supplier of water in the area, whereas before there were a number of different companies.

As a consequence of this new control of water supply, they have set standard rates for all the urbanizations, eliminating differences between one company and another. Aguas de Benahavis claim that Benahavis has the lowest prices on the Costa del Sol, thanks to the improvement of resources that have been achieved by the Town Hall and the new company.

the Benahavis Catering School with the graduation ceremony.

In a ceremony in which the students were surrounded by family and friends, the mayor praised the great training they had received whilst at the Benahavis school, as well as the practical experience they get in the schools own restaurant as well as in some of the best establishments in the country.

Mena, as president of the Hispano Arabe de la Dieta Mediterranean Foundation, lauded the work of the teachers when he said, “for the great work they are doing in the difficult area of teaching” as they complete ten years

of preparing men and women for the workplace and contribute to the good image of the town not only locally but provincially as well.

The president of the Mancomunidad de Municipios de la Costa del Sol congratulated the students as well and encouraged them to look forward to gaining their place in the workforce. 10 of the 23 students who received their diplomas belonged to the fifth catering course and the remaining 13 to the seventh waiting course. At the end of the ceremony the new students on the catering and waiting courses served cocktails to all the guests.

Los estudiantes de la provin-cia de Málaga participarán, una vez más, en los diferentes pro-gramas puestos en marcha por la Fundación Andalucía Empren-de de cara al curso 2012-2013. Nada menos que 13.000 jóvenes de toda Andalucía, amén de 400 centros educativos, se sumarán a “Emprender en mi escuela”, “Íca-ro”, “Empresa Joven Europea” y “Emprendejoven”, programas orientados a que estudiantes de entre 9 y 22 años vayan sumer-giéndose en una cultura empre-sarial basada en la figura del em-prendedor. Por otra parte, en su implementación jugarán asimis-

mo un papel destacado tanto los colegios, institutos y universida-des andaluzas como los docen-tes.

De esta forma, los programas puestos en marcha por Andalu-cía Emprende, dependiente de la Consejería de Economía, Innova-ción, Ciencia y Empleo de la Jun-ta de Andalucía, tienen como fin principal inculcar a los jóvenes conceptos y valores como inno-vación, creatividad o responsa-bilidad usando también ejemplos prácticos o poniendo a personali-dades destacadas en este ámbito en contacto con los estudiantes. Se espera que en próximas edi-ciones se beneficien de estos pro-yectos hasta 20.000 niños y que

sean 600 los centros que puedan incorporarse a ellos.

Creación de “miniempre-sas” en las aulasAsí, “Emprender en mi escuela”, “Ícaro” y “Empresa Joven Euro-pea” comenzarán a funcionar, en las próximas fechas, en colegios e institutos, pues están dirigidos a estudiantes de Primaria, Secun-daria, Bachillerato, Formación Profesional y Garantía Social. Entre otras actividades, crearán sus propias “miniempresas”, que funcionarán como las reales, con todo lo que ello conlleva en as-pectos como la toma de decisio-nes o el trabajo en equipo.

Por su parte, “Emprendejo-ven” tiene como destinatarios a los que cursan Formación Profe-sional, preferentemente de gra-do superior, y se desarrolla a tra-vés de talleres y del contacto con emprendedores, además de con la asesoría del equipo técnico de Andalucía Emprende.

Students from the Malaga Province will participate, once again, in different programmes put in place by the Andalucía Enterprise Foundation during the 2012 – 2013 school year. No less than 13,000 young people in all of Andalucía, as well as 400 schools will take part in the “Entrepreneur in my school”, “Icarus”, “European Young Business” and “Young Entrepreneur”

programmes, geared towards getting students from 9 to 22 years to learn about corporate culture based on the role of the entrepreneur. Besides this, teachers as well as schools, secondary schools and universities will play an important role in the project.

In this way, programmes launched by ‘Andalusian Enterprise’, under the Andalucia Ministry of Economy, Innovation, Science and Employment, are primarily aimed at giving young people concepts and values such as innovation, creativity and responsibility by using practical examples or by putting key role models in this area in contact with students. It is hoped that future editions of these projects will benefit up to 20,000 children and 600 schools.

Creation of ‘mini companies’ in the classroomsThe programmes, “Enterprise in my school”, “Icarus”, and “Young European Company” will shortly get underway in primary and secondary schools as they are aimed at primary, secondary, vocational and social care students. Amongst other activities, students will create “mini-companies” which will run just like real ones and involve things like decision making and working in a team. On the other hand, the programme, “Young entrepreneur” is aimed at those on vocational courses instead of higher education and will be developed through workshops and through contact with entrepreneurs, as well as guidance from the Andalucia Entreprise team.

STUFFED BLACK PUDDING WITH SWEET POTATO GNOCCHI

Serves Four• BLACK PUDDING CAKE400 g Burgos black pudding120 g Stilton cheese

• SWEET POTATO GNOCCHI750 g mashed sweet potato (warm)400 g type 00 flour2 egg yolks100 g grated parmesan cheese

Split the black pudding into four 100 g balls and the Stilton into four 30 g balls. Wrap the cheese with the black pudding and mould into a cake shape.

To make the gnocchi, make sure the sweet potato mash is still warm and combine with all the ingredients. Mix by hand until a dough is formed. Roll into sausage shape and cut into small pieces.

Cook in boiling salted water until the gnocchi rise to the surface. Take out and set to side.

Panfry the black pudding cake and gnocchi until crispy and assemble as photo.

We like to garnish with a little veal jus, confit red onion and baby herb shoots.

MORCILLA RELLENA CON ÑOQUIS DE BATATAIngredientes para cuatro personas

• PASTEL DE MORCILLA400 g de morcilla de Burgos120 g de queso Stilton

• ÑOQUIS DE BATATA750 g puré de batata (caliente)400 g de harina (tipo 00)2 yemas de huevo100 g de queso parmesano rallado

Dividir la morcilla de Burgos en cuatro bolas de 100 gramos y el queso Stilton en otras cuatro de 30 gramos. Envolver el queso con la morcilla y moldear en forma de pastel.

Para hacer los ñoquis, asegurarse de que el puré de batata esté aún caliente y posteriormente, combinarlo con los demás ingredientes. Mezclar manualmente hasta obtener la masa. Enrollar en forma de salchicha y cortar en trozos pequeños.

Cocer en agua hirviendo con sal hasta que los ñoquis suban a la superficie. Secar y dejar a un lado.

Freír la morcilla de Burgos y los ñoquis hasta que estén crujientes y colocarlos en un plato tal y como se indica en la fotografía. Si se desea, se puede decorar con un poco de salsa de ternera, cebolla confitada y brotes tiernos.

El impulso al turismo interior y al relacionado con el avista-miento de aves y las fiestas singu-lares viene a ser la consecuencia más importante de la reunión mantenida días atrás por el di-putado de Turismo, Jacobo Flori-

do, y Francisco Artacho, respon-sable de la Empresa Pública para la Gestión del Turismo y del De-porte de la Junta de Andalucía. Atentos siempre a la búsqueda de nuevas vías para mejorar la ima-gen de la provincia de Málaga de cara al exterior, así como al po-tenciamiento de sus virtudes, pa-

rece ser que éstas serán las líneas fundamentales en las que se ba-sará su promoción.

Así, no cabe duda de que Be-nahavís sintoniza plenamente con estas opciones, que atraen cada vez a un mayor número de turistas. Primeramente, la desti-nada a potenciar las virtudes de los municipios del interior de la provincia, entre las que destacan la celebración de fiestas singu-lares, la posibilidad de practicar senderismo o deportes de aven-tura o, simplemente, el estar en pleno contacto con la naturaleza. Por otra parte, no podemos dejar de lado el avistamiento de aves, un reclamo que no siempre se ha potenciado como se debe tanto en la Costa del Sol como en el in-terior de Málaga, cuya ubicación es clave en términos de migra-ción de aves.

Britain Birdwatching FairDe este modo, representantes del Patronato de Turismo de la Costa del Sol viajarán a Rutland (Reino Unido) en compañía de miembros del órgano promocional de la Jun-ta de Andalucía para tomar par-te en la Britain Birdwatching Fair, el evento más importante a nivel mundial relacionado con el avis-tamiento de aves. La idea es con-solidar a Málaga como referencia en este ámbito, y para ello conta-

rán con una ayuda de excepción. Hablamos de la aplicación de rea-lidad aumentada “Costa del Sol – Málaga”, una herramienta en la que se halla georreferenciada la totalidad de la provincia. A través de ella, los visitantes podrán, tan-

to en inglés como en español, in-formarse de los servicios que se brindan a los turistas y también localizar los reclamos dirigidos principalmente a este segmento, que se espera aumente gracias a su utilidad.

Tras su publicación en el Bole-tín Oficial de la Provincia, la Or-denanza Municipal de Espacios Verdes impulsada por el equipo de Gobierno ha entrado en vigor en Benahavís. La nueva normati-va tiene por objetivo preservar el patrimonio natural del municipio, aunque también afecta al ámbi-to privado. Aprobada después de que no se presentara ninguna re-

clamación en su contra tras su pu-blicación en el BOP, la Ordenan-za Municipal de Espacios Verdes atiende, primeramente, a la pro-tección de las zonas verdes em-plazadas en Benahavís. Por otra parte, también se extiende esta vigilancia a determinadas espe-cies vegetales, algunas propias del bosque mediterráneo y otras que se ven amenazadas por plagas como la palmera, que sigue acu-sando la acción del picudo rojo.

Jardines privadosTambién quedan delimitadas las normas que regirán la conserva-ción de jardines y arbolado pri-vados, sin olvidar la protección que se deberá brindar a los ele-mentos vegetales mientras se estén llevando a cabo obras. Al mismo tiempo, con la aproba-ción de la Ordenanza Fiscal Re-guladora de la Tasa por Licencia para la Tala y Poda de Árboles y Masas Árboreas, paralela a la de la Ordenanza Municipal, ha quedado establecido tanto el ré-gimen sancionador para los in-fractores como las tasas que se habrán de abonar para realizar talas y podas.

The aim to boost inland tourism relating to bird watching and the different festivals held in this area was the most important result of the meeting held a few days ago by the Minister for Tourism, Jacobo Florido and Francisco Artacho, the director of the Public office for Tourism and the Sports Department of the Andalucian Government. At the meeting the delegates looked for new ways to improve the image of the Malaga Province to the rest of the world, as well as promoting the potential the region has, and it was these objectives that proved fundamental when deciding to promote inland tourism.

Benahavis, without a doubt, is in perfect synchrony with these ideas and as a result, the numbers of visitors to the town are constantly increasing.

Firstly, the aim is to promote the virtues of the inland municipalities

in the province, with the special individual festivals, the possibilities for hiking and adventure sports or simply being in touch with nature. On the other hand, one mustn’t forget the bird watching opportunities, which has always been sought after as both the coast and the inland areas are key places to witness bird migration.

Britain Bird watching FairRepresentatives of the Costa del Sol Tourism Department will travel to Rutland, UK accompanied by members of the Marketing Department of the Junta de Andalucia to take part in the British Bird watching Fair, the most important of its kind in the world. The idea is to consolidate Malaga as a reference in this area and the delegates can count on an exceptional tool. We are talking about an app of ‘augmented reality’ “Costa del Sol – Malaga”, a tool in which you can geo-reference the whole province. Through this app, visitors can get information in English or Spanish on the services that are offered to tourists as well as locating the main attractions related to this sector, which it is hoped will increase the number of tourists.

Official Provincial Bulletin, the new Municipal Law of Green Spaces has come into effect in Benahavis. The new law aims to preserve the natural patrimony of the municipality, although it will also affect private land. The law that was passed with no objections after its publication in the BOP (Official

Provincial Bulletin), is mainly related to the protection of green zones in the Benahavis area. On the other hand, however, it also extends to protection of determined plant species, some of which are native to the Mediterranean forests and others that are threatened by plagues, such as the palm trees that

are constantly under attack from the red palm weevil.

Todos los ciudadanos que de-seen deshacerse de muebles, elec-trodomésticos o enseres, que por sus características no puedan ser depositados en los contenedores habituales existentes en todo el tér-mino municipal, pueden llamar al servicio de recogida establecido por al Ayuntamiento de Benahavís, cuyo teléfono es 952 85 57 15 en ho-rario de 7:30 horas a 15:00 horas.

Un camión municipal, especí-fico para este servicio, recorre la localidad diariamente para reco-ger cualquier objeto desechado por los ciudadanos. No obstante, des-de el Consistorio se solicita la cola-boración de los vecinos para evitar que dichos enseres se queden más tiempo del preciso en nuestras ca-lles.

Para ello pueden avisar al teléfo-

no señalado y, a continuación, de-positar sus enseres domésticos en el lugar indicado (siempre al lado de los contenedores de residuos or-gánicos). Un camión pasará a reti-rarlos en el menor tiempo posible.

El área de Medio Ambiente, re-cuerda igualmente, que existen contenedores de papel y cartón, envases ligeros, plásticos, vidrios y ropa, repartidos por todo el tér-mino municipal. Además, en dife-rentes establecimientos públicos se han instalado depósitos para la re-cogida de pilas.

Medio Ambiente solicita la ex-presa colaboración de los ciudada-nos para que no depositen enseres o electrodomésticos los viernes, sá-bados y domingos, ya que hasta el lunes no volverá a pasar el camión de recogida.

Finalmente, cabe recordar que este servicio es totalmente gratuito.

The Town Hall offers a free service to collect furniture and domestic waste


All residents who wish to throw out furniture, electrical items or waste, that because of their size can not be deposited in the normal bins throughout the municipality, can call a collection service set up by the Benahavis Town Hall. The telephone number is 952 85 57 15 and the collection hours are from 7:30 am to 15:00 pm.

A municipal lorry, designed for this type of service, will drive around the town daily to collect any objects thrown away by residents. However, the Town Hall asks for collaboration from residents to avoid waste being

left for too long in the streets.To prevent this, residents can call

the special number and then deposit their waste in the designated area (always next to rubbish bins). A lorry will pass by to collect it as soon as possible.

The Environmental Department reminds citizens that there are recycling bins for paper and cardboard, wrappings, plastics, glass and clothes distributed throughout the municipality. Besides, in different public establishments bins have been installed for the collection of batteries. The department also asked for collaboration from residents to not deposit waste or electrical goods on Fridays, Saturdays or Sundays as the lorry does not pass until Monday. The final thing to note is that this service is totally free.

El dispositivo para la Prevención y Extinción de Incendios Forestales de la Junta de Andalucía, Plan Infoca, ha probado un nuevo producto ignífugo con efectos retardantes para prevenir y combatir la propagación del fuego.

Este proyecto tiene como objeto que los efectos ignífugos, tras la apli-cación del producto sobre el terreno, permanezcan en la vegetación y en el suelo durante un periodo de tres me-ses, para evitar así la propagación de los incendios forestales. Este produc-to se aplica fácilmente, no es tóxico ni

para el hombre ni para la vegetación y su coste es más bajo que el de otros métodos similares que se encuentran en el mercado.

Las pruebas se han centrado en la aplicación del producto sobre el terre-no, el cual se ha dejado actuar duran-te dos meses para que se alcancen los efectos esperados. Transcurrido este periodo de tiempo, se ha prendido fue-go en el sentido del viento para com-probar que, una vez que las llamas al-cancen la zona de la vegetación tratada con el producto, éste no se propague. Estas pruebas se han realizado en una ladera, a media pendiente, con una in-

clinación del 10%. Asimismo, dos ter-cios del terreno no van a ser tratados con este nuevo material, para que el fuego tome fuerza así antes de llegar a la zona en la que se ha aplicado el pro-ducto ignífugo y que la prueba, de este modo, sea aún más fiable. El área tra-tada será señalada para identificar-la de las demás y se realizará una faja cortafuegos de la finca, para que los efectos de la prueba no sobrepasen los límites de la misma.

Este producto ignífugo con efecto retardante es el resultado de seis años de trabajos de investigación, análisis de laboratorios y varias pruebas, proceso en el que han participado, junto con la Consejería de Agricultura, Pesca y Me-dio Ambiente de la Junta, el Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC) y la Universidad de Córdoba.

The department for Forest Fire Prevention and Extinction of the Junta de Andalucia, ‘Plan Infoca’ have been trying out a new fire retardant product which it hopes will prevent and combat the spread of fires.

The objective of this project is that the anti incendiary effects on the terrain

it is applied to will last three months to prevent the spread of forest fires. The product can be easily applied, is not toxic for either humans or plant life and its cost is much lower than other similar products that can be found on the market.

The trials have been based on the application of the product on the ground, which has been left for two months for it to reach the desired effect. After this time period has elapsed, they set fire to the land in the direction of the wind to test, that once the flames reach the treated area, they do not spread. The trials were carried out on a sloping hillside with a 10% inclination. As well as this,

two thirds of the lands were not treated with the product so that the fire gathers strength before it reaches the treated area to make the trials more reliable.

The treated area will be clearly marked to be able to identify it and a anti fire belt will be made around the test site so that the effects of the trial do not spread to other areas.

This anti incendiary product is the result of six years of investigation and analysis from laboratories and trials in which the following have participated: The Department of Agriculture, Fishing and Environment of the Junta de Andalucía, The Council of Scientific Research and the University of Cordoba.

Aprobado el calendario de 2013 para la apertura de los establecimientos comerciales en domingos y festivos

Ya está aprobado el calendario de aperturas de estableci-mientos comerciales de más de 300 metros cuadrados en do-mingos y festivos para el año 2013, tras el acuerdo mayoritario alcanzado en el seno del Consejo Andaluz de Comercio. La cifra de días autorizados de atención al público pasa de ocho a diez, el mínimo establecido en la nueva normativa del Gobierno cen-tral en la materia.

El citado calendario establece que las diez jornadas de aper-tura al público fijadas en la comunidad para el próximo ejercicio serán el 7 de enero (lunes), el 7 de julio (domingo), el 15 de agos-to (jueves), el 1 de septiembre (domingo), el 12 de octubre (sába-do), el 1 de noviembre (viernes), el 8 de diciembre (domingo), el 15 de diciembre (domingo), el 22 de diciembre (domingo) y el 29 de diciembre (domingo).

Un grupo de voluntarios inicia una campaña de recogi-da de juguetes en Benahavís

Las fiestas navideñas están a la vuelta de la esquina y este año, con motivo de la crisis que sufrimos dese hace tiempo, muchas fa-milias no podrán disfrutarlas como les gustaría. Es por eso que un grupo de voluntarios se ha puesto manos a la obra y ha iniciado una campaña de recogida de juguetes, para que los más pequeños de la casa puedan recibir su regalo, independientemente de la si-tuación económica del hogar.

Todas las personas interesadas en donar sus artículos podrán hacerlo en la Parroquia Virgen del Rosario de Benahavís. “Sabe-mos que en casa tenemos algún que otro juguete que nuestros hi-jos recibieron con mucha ilusión pero que ahora están arrinco-nados y sin usar”, explican estos voluntarios, que piden que las donaciones están en buenas condiciones, ya que no hay que olvi-dar que son niños los que van a recibir estos regalos.

El horario de recogida será los domingos de 11:00 a 12:00 ho-ras en la iglesia, preguntando por Ana Abad, o en la emisora de ABC Punto Radio, de lunes a viernes de 12:00 a 14:00 o cualquier día preguntando por Rosario Castilla.

Estos juguetes se repartirán desde la parroquia entre los niños de Benahavís y San Pedro Alcántara.

Anyone interested in donating ítems can do so in the Parish Church, Virgen del Rosario in Benahavis. “We know that at home we have some toys that are received with much delight but are later left in the corner and not used” explained one of the volunteers who asked that toys be donated in good condition as we can’t forget that children are going to receive these toys as presents.

Collection times are on Sundays from 11:00 to 12:00 in the church, where you should ask for Ana Abad or in the radio station ABC Radio from Monday to Friday 12:00 to 14:00 where you should ask for Rosario Castilla.

The toys will be handed out from the parish church to children in Benahavis and San Pedro de Alcantara.

Más de cuatro años han pasado ya desde que dieran comienzo las obras que convertirían el Hospital Costa del Sol en un centro de refe-rencia a nivel nacional y que faci-litarían la asistencia que el centro sanitario brinda a unos 400.000 pacientes de los municipios cerca-nos, entre los que se encuentra Be-nahavís. Sin embargo, como suele ser habitual en demasiados casos, las diferencias entre las distintas administraciones implicadas en su devenir están motivando un re-traso que incide directamente en el día a día de un considerable nú-mero de personas.

Recientemente, la consejera de Salud de la Junta de Andalucía, María Jesús Montero, ha queri-do destacar el carácter prioritario que para el Gobierno autonómi-co tiene este proyecto, al tiempo que apunta directamente al Con-sistorio marbellí como culpable de este bloqueo. En su opinión, la negativa a la concesión de permi-sos para proseguir con los traba-jos en el hospital y la situación del aparcamiento del mismo (el Ayun-tamiento pretende que la empresa concesionaria no cobre a los usua-rios por aparcar) suponen la raíz de este problema, ya que han mo-

tivado litigios a nivel judicial que, sin duda, alargarán los plazos pre-vistos.

Gestión común con AndújarPor su parte, desde Alcaldía se alude a que la Junta es la que se opone frontalmente al progre-so del Hospital Costa del Sol y a los beneficios que podría reportar a los ciudadanos que se encuen-tran bajo su área de influencia, como los de San Pedro. Así, con-sideran una prueba de ello la uni-ficación de la gestión de este cen-tro hospitalario con el ubicado en Andújar como consecuencia de la fusión de la Agencia Sanitaria de la Costa del Sol y la del Alto Gua-dalquivir. Cuestión que, por otro

lado, ha levantado diversas am-pollas en el seno de los sindicatos mayoritarios.

Por si fuera poco, también hay que tener presente que la empre-sa concesionaria de las obras en el Hospital Comarcal interpuso un recurso contencioso-administra-tivo contra la Junta de Andalucía al entender que no se han cumpli-do las premisas que figuraban en el pliego de condiciones gracias al cual se obtuvo el proyecto. De esta forma, no faltan motivos para que la ciudadanía contemple con in-quietud los retrasos que de se-guro provocarán este cúmulo de circunstancias en una obra cuya finalización estaba prevista para el pasado año.

La inmobiliaria Taylor Wim-pey España ha presentado su nue-vo proyecto en la Costa del Sol, el conjunto residencial ‘Los Arque-ros Beach’ que se ubicará en San Pedro. La compañía, de origen bri-tánico, invertirá 15 millones de euros en esta obra y revitalizará así uno de los sectores industriales más importantes de la zona.

Los responsables de Taylor Wimpey España, en una acto ce-

lebrado en su sede sampedreña, han asegurado que este proyecto generará más de 160 puestos de trabajo, tanto directos como indi-rectos, durante los próximos cin-co años.

Por su parte, el presidente de la Asociación Provincial de Cons-tructores y Promotores de Mála-ga, José Prado, ha manifestado su alegría por la noticia: “Marbella es el icono de la Costa del Sol y la imagen de seguridad jurídica y de reactivación del mercado inmobi-

liario nos hace ser positivos ante el repunte de la actividad en el resto de la provincia”.

Por parte de Taylor Wimpey Es-paña, su director regional en An-dalucía, Ignacio Oslé, ha explica-do cuál es la naturaleza de ‘Los Arqueros Beach’: “El objetivo del nuevo proyecto es ofrecer una vi-vienda de playa con acceso a pie al paseo marítimo y al casco antiguo pero con la posibilidad de disfru-te de las instalaciones de Los Ar-queros Golf, que se encuentran a

tan sólo cinco minutos en coche. Además se incluyen las más altas prestaciones y acabados del mer-cado pero al precio más competiti-vo, desde sólo 205.000 euros para una superficie media de disfrute de 130 metros cuadrados”.

Clara apuesta por San PedroLa filial española de Taylor Wim-pey Plc. apuesta por San Pedro con un proyecto de 114 pisos y áticos-solarium, de tres dormitorios con grandes terrazas, locales comer-ciales distribuidos en tres edificios con 3.600 metros cuadrados de lo-cales comerciales, planta subte-rránea para 215 plazas de aparca-miento y tres alturas de viviendas en la playa de San Pedro Alcán-

Las vivienda, diseñada por el Estudio de Arquitectura Liev-Ro-dríguez, se construyen con el nue-vo código técnico de edificación por lo que están dotadas de la últi-ma tecnología en aislamiento tér-mico y acústico, además del uso de paneles solares para la genera-ción del agua caliente. Las calida-des son de lujo, incluyendo cocina amueblada con puerta corredera de cristal y electrodomésticos, aire acondicionado instalado y suelos de mármol en el salón y gres por-celánico de gran formato en los baños.

Fresh controversy caused by the delay in the building works on the Costa del Sol Hospital THE mAyORESS Of mARBELLA ANd THE JuNTA dE ANdALuCíA CONTINuE TO BLAmE EACH OTHER


More than four years have passed since the building works to convert the Costa del Sol Hospital into a national centre of excellence began. The aim was to improve services for the 400,000 patients that the hospital serves, including those who live in San Pedro. However, as is sadly so often the case, the disagreements between the different authorities involved in the building works are causing delays that directly affect the day to day lives of a considerable number of people.

Recently, the Health Minister for the Junta de Andalucía, Maria Jesus Montero, stated that this project was a top priority for the autonomous government and blamed the Marbella Town Hall for the hold ups. In her opinion the refusal to grant permission to proceed with the work at the hospital and the parking area (the Town Hall does not want the

company in charge of car parks to charge) represent the root of this problem and have led to litigation in the courts which will undoubtedly set back the works even further.

Joint management with AndújarThe Town Hall, for its part, accuses the Junta of delaying the progress of the Costa del Sol Hospital which could have repercussions for the many people who fall under its catchment area, like those living in San Pedro. As proof of this, they offer the unification of management of the hospital with that of the hospital in Andúhar as a consequence of the merger of the Costa del Sol Health Department with that of the Alto Guadalquivir. This is a matter that has raised an uproar amongst some of the unions.

As if this were not enough, the company in charge of building works on the municipality’s hospital has lodged an appeal against the Junta de Andalucia as they state that they have not adhered to the conditions in the original contract. This means, that there are no shortage of reasons for the residents in the area to feel uneasy about the delays that this combination of circumstances has provoked on works that should have been finished last year.

The management of Taylor Wimpey Spain, celebrated the launch of this project in their San Pedro headquarters and assured that this project would create 160 direct and indirect positions during the next five years.

The president of the Provincial Association for Builders and Real

Estate in Malaga, José Prado, expressed his delight at the news: “Marbella is an icon on the Costa del Sol and seeing legal and real estate market recovery gives us cause for positivity against the lack of activity in the rest of the province”.

Ignacio Oslé, the Andalucia Regional Director for Taylor Wimpey Spain, explained the nature of ‘Los Arqueros Beach’: “The objective of this new project is to offer a house on the beach with easy access to the promenade and the old town but with the added value of being able to enjoy the Los Arqueros Golf facilities, which are only five minutes by car. Besides,

the residences will be finished to the highest standards, but at a very competitive rate, from only 205,000 Euros for 130 square metres”.

A real commitment to San Pedro The Spanish affiliate to Taylow Wimpey Plc. Commits to San Pedro with a project of 114 apartments, three bedroom penthouses and shop premises distributed in three buildings. Rafael Gómez tiene 41 años y desde hace 20 reside en Bena-havís. A pesar de no haber naci-do en el municipio, asegura que nunca se ha sentido un forastero. Amante del deporte, en especial del baloncesto, este año se hace cargo de la Escuela Municipal de esta disciplina. Luchador y tra-bajador, nunca deja de aprender cosas sobre el baloncesto para transmitírselas a sus alumnos y poder hacer de ellos grandes de-portistas el día mañana.

Pregunta: No nació aquí pero se siente un benahavileño más, ¿no es así?

respuesta: Sí, exactamente. Soy de Benahavís, pero de adop-ción. Llegué aquí en 1992 y nunca me he sentido un forastero. Eso se debe, quizás, a que cuando lle-gué no había tanta gente y he ido creciendo con el pueblo, inten-tando siempre relacionarme muy bien con todos los vecinos.

P: Antes de hablar de depor-te, ¿cuál es su trayectoria profe-sional?

r: En el mundo del trabajo he hecho casi de todo, desde nego-cios de hostelería hasta de segu-ridad y también he sido empre-sario. La verdad es que en este sentido soy un poco “busca vi-das” y me ha tocado luchar mu-cho, desde pequeño. Con 18 años ya tenía un hijo y ahora, con 41 tengo cuatro, más un sobrino que estoy adoptando.

P: ¿Y sacaba tiempo para el deporte?

r: Sí, en Benahavís siempre he estado muy vinculado con el deporte local, desde la escuela de fútbol con los más pequeños has-ta con los veteranos. También he estado relacionado con tres equi-pos sénior de la Liga Afasa en San Pedro Alcántara y he sido tanto árbitro como jugador de fútbol.

P: ¿Cuándo empieza a jugar al baloncesto?

r: Desde pequeño siempre he practicado este deporte, lo que pasa es que era una faceta que hasta ahora no había podido rea-lizar en Benahavís

P: ¿Y por qué baloncesto? ¿Qué le gusta de él?

r: Me encanta porque es un deporte que tiene muy marca-do, desde la base, el respeto hacia todo lo que rodea al jugador, tan-to al rival, como al árbitro, a los entrenadores y al público.

P: ¿Cómo llega a ser el respon-sable de la Escuela de Baloncesto de Benahavís?

r: Fue un poco una apues-ta personal que conseguí gra-cias al apoyo de otras personas, como Pepe Morillo, coordinador del Unicaja. Yo intenté convencer al concejal de Deportes de que en el municipio podría tener cabida el baloncesto no solo a nivel pro-fesional, sino también a nivel de formación.

P: ¿Es la primera vez que asu-me el cargo de coordinador de una Escuela Municipal?

r: Sí, como responsable de un colectivo de este tipo es mi pri-mera experiencia.

P: ¿Cómo afronta este reto?r: Yo soy como un niño más.

Cada día aprendo algo nuevo de ellos y eso me está ilusionando mucho. Es la motivación que me hace falta para afrontar los in-convenientes que puedan ir sur-giendo durante todo el año.

P: ¿Compagina su tarea en la Escuela Municipal con otro tra-bajo?

Hoy en día, uno no puede de-jar de mejorar, por el bien de los chicos con los que entrena, para intentar hacerles llegar lo más

P: ¿Cree que es importante a estas edades inculcarles la men-talidad de juego limpio?

r: Sí, sin duda alguna. De he-cho, esa es una de mis apues-tas. Siempre intento que los ni-ños jueguen teniendo en cuenta dos cuestiones fundamentales: el respeto y la educación.

P: A título personal, ¿qué ha-ría para fomentar el deporte base?

r: Trabajaría sobre todo en los colegios, pues serían un buen apoyo para aumentar el interés por el deporte. Pero creo que en Benahavís, a pesar de que todo es mejorable, en este sentido se está trabajando bien. Se está apostando fuerte y con el tiempo y mucho esfuerzo iremos vien-do los resultados. Además, ten-

go que destacar que los niños de aquí son muy competitivos.

P: Entre trabajo y balonces-to, ¿le queda tiempo para algún otro hobby?

r: Me gusta mucho el pádel, la bicicleta y el fútbol, pero, aun-que quiera, no tengo horas en el día para todo.

P: ¿Dónde se ve en el futuro? ¿Algún sueño que le gustaría al-canzar?

r: No sé dónde estaré el día de mañana, la verdad, eso el tiempo lo dirá. Y sueños mu-chos, como todo entrenador. En el Unicaja ya me ofrecieron se-guir con el equipo de Clínicas Rincón, pero tenía que viajar a Torre del Mar y ahora mi objeti-vo es formar a los niños de aquí, de Benahavís.

41 year old Rafael Gómez has lived in Benahavis for 20 years. Despite not having been born in the town, he assures us he has never felt like an outsider. Gomez, who is a lover of all sports but particularly basketball, has this year taken over as the head of the Municipal School for Basketball. He is a fighter and a worker who never stops learning about basketball so that he can pass on his knowledge to his students and convert them into great players in the future.

Benahavis Información: You weren’t born here, but you feel like you are from here, don’t you?

Rafael Gomez: Yes, exactly. I’m an

adopted citizen of Benahavis. I came here in 1992 and I’ve never felt like an outsider. This is due to perhaps the fact that when I arrived there weren’t so many people living here and I have grown up alongside the town, always trying to get on with my neighbours.

BI: Before we talk about sport, can you tell us about your professional career?

rG: In the world of work, I have done about everything from working in catering to security and I’ve also had my own business. The truth is I’m a bit of a ‘jack of all trades’ and I have worked very hard since I was young. When I was 18 I already had a son and now I’m 41 I have four children and a nephew that I am adopting.

BI: And you still found time for sport?

rG: Yes, in Benahavis I have always been linked to local sports, like the football school from the youngest members to the most senior. I have also worked with three senior teams in the Afasa League in San Pedro Alcantara and I’ve been a referee and a football player.

BI: When did you start playing basketball?

rG: I’ve played since I was really young, however this was a sport that I haven’t been able to work in until now.

BI: Why basketball? Why do you like it so much?

rG: I love it because it is a sport where the rules are strictly defined and favour respect for the player from the rival, the referee, the trainers and the public.

BI: How did you become the head of the basketball school?

rG: It was a bit of a personal challenge that I achieved through the support of other people, like Pepe Morillo the Unicaja coordinator. I tried to convince the Sports councilor that the municipality could accommodate basketball at both a professional level as well as a school level.

BI: Is this the first time you are the head of a municipal school?

rG: Yes, it is my first experience as head of a group like this,

BI: How do you approach this kind of challenge?

rG: I’m like a child. Every day I

learn something new from them and this is thrilling. It is the motivation that keeps me going when I have to face problems that arise throughout the year.

BI: Do you combine your role at the school with any other work?

rG: For the last three years I have been the care taker of the Benahavis Pavillion and of course I can’t give up this job. Besides this, I really like studying and learning new things about basketball. These days one cannot stop learning and improving, for the good of the students I try to give them the latest developments in the sport. With internet and new technologies it is easy to find new things to help them.

BI: Do you think it is important to instill values of fair play and this age?

rG: Yes, without a doubt. In fact, this is one of my aims. I always try to get the children to play with two values in mind: respect and education.

BI: At a personal level, what would you do to encourage sports?

rG: I would work above all with the schools as that would be a good support base to increase interest

in the sport. However I believe that in Benahavis, although of course anything can be improved, they are working really well. They are making a real commitment to sports and with time and effort we will see the results. Besides, I have to say that the children from here are really competitive.

BI: Between work and basketball do you find time for any hobbies?

rG: I really like paddle, cycling and football but although I’d like to do more I don’t have enough hours in the day.

BI: Where do you see yourself in the future? Do you have an ambition you would like to realize?

rG: The truth is you never know where you will be tomorrow, time will tell. I have many dreams, like any coach. In Unicaja they have already offered me the chance of continuing with the ‘Clinicas Rincón’ Team but I would have to move to Torre del mar and for now my goal is to train the children of Benahavis.

El Ayuntamiento de Benahavís y el Club de Atletismo San Pedro han puesto en marcha la I Carrera popular de la suerte, una iniciati-va que tiene como objetivo que las personas que disfrutan con el de-porte puedan colaborar con las fa-milias más necesitadas.

Este evento se celebrará en Be-nahavís el 22 de diciembre para ayudar con comida, juguetes, ropa

o aquello que puedan ceder quie-nes participen, pero también quie-nes asistan al acontecimiento para disfrutar de un rato de diversión.

A partir de las 10 de la maña-na, en la avenida de Andalucía, se abrirán las mesas de inscripción y a cambio de una donación se entre-gará la camiseta del evento.

A las 11:00 horas dará comienzo la carrera, una actividad que nace con perspectivas de futuro ya que desde la organización se ha seña-

lado que pretenden que perdure en el tiempo como cita de la suerte y la solidaridad.

Los participantes encontrarán diferentes recorridos. La popular, apta para todos los públicos, con un circuito de unos 3 kilómetros, y otro que se constituirá como la “ca-rrera sorpresa”.

Para todos los participantes ha-brá agua y zumos a su llegada a la meta.

El 22 de diciembre se conver-tirá en un día especial para Bena-havís porque con esta actividad se habrá ayudado a la subsistencia de quienes carecen de recursos sufi-cientes.

Quienes decidan no participar también podrán aportar su donati-vo o comida si así lo desean.

El II Enduro villa de Benahavís ha sido toda una fiesta del motor para aficionados y vecinos del pueblo ya que se han doblado todas previsiones iniciales de la organiza-ción, con la llegada de 200 pilotos de todos los puntos de Andalucía, Madrid, Ceuta y Melilla. Entre ellos, algunos de los actua-les campeones de Andalucía y de España-

Después de una noche de fuertes lluvias e inundaciones, los pilotos se enfrentaron a uno de los peores escenarios posibles de esta modalidad: muchísimo barro, pozas de agua, ríos con fuerte corriente, lluvia,… en definitiva la definición del “enduro” en su máxima expresión. A pesar de todo, más de 100 pilotos conseguieron terminar la ca-rrera sin ninguna lesión que lamentar. Y el éxito, en parte, también debido a la orga-nización que supo reaccionar rápidamen-te y adaptar el recorrido a las condiciones existentes.

En la categoría reina, el favorito no falló y se imponía el rondeño Samuel Guerrero (KTM-Ortiz), que a las primeras de cambio veía como su máximo rival y actual cam-peón de Andalucía, el jerezano José Mori-llo (Sherco-Ortiz) se veía obligado a aban-donar por problemas mecánicos en una poza de agua. Tras él, otro gaditano y ac-tual campeón de España de veteranos, Jor-ge Moreno (KTM-GuiGui motos) se hacía con la segunda posición. Y en tercer lugar

finalizaba otro de los grandes nombres del Enduro andaluz, el malagueño de Alozai-na Juan Antonio Guzmán (Yamaha-Ortiz).

En los jóvenes, otro malagueño del Se-cadero, Ezequiel Ruiz (KTM) culmina una buena temporada y se imponía con una có-moda diferencia sobre un recién llegado al enduro del MotoCross, el granadino Bien-venido Hernández (KTM). El pódium lo cerraba un piloto local, Jaime Marín (Hon-da).

En la categoría de Senior B, el pilo-to de Fuengirola y campeón de Andalu-cía José Manuel Cuevas (KTM-Ortiz) no daba ninguna opción a sus rivales y des-de el principio marcaba los mejores tiem-pos de la categoría. Por detrás, tres pilo-tos mantenían una bonita lucha que no

se decidió hasta la última especial. En se-gunda posición quedaba otro marbellí, José Antonio Sanchez “nono” (KTM-Or-tiz). Y tercero a menos de 3 segundos el menor de los hermanos, Víctor Jiménez (KTM-Ortiz). La cuarta plaza final era para otro local y experimentado, Sergio Aragonés (Gas Gas).

En los veteranos, Senior C, el portu-gués afincado en Marbella Azuil Arcan-jo (KTM-Ortiz) tampoco daba opciones y se imponía con más de un minuto sobre el segundo clasificado, el malagueño Fer-nando Orihuela. Toda una hazaña tenien-do en cuenta que es su segunda carrera. El tercer puesto iba a parar a manos del sevi-llano Francisco Ruiz Camacho.

Y por último, en la categoría de Aficio-nados, una apretada victoria para el ceutí Tarek Abderrahaman (Honda-Ortiz). Pi-sándole los talones y a tan sólo 10 segun-dos finalizaba el de Fuengirola Rafa Ro-mero (KTM). La tercera posición, para el piloto de Estepona Juan Muñoz.

La entrega de premios se celebró el 30 de noviembre en el salón de actos del Ayuntamiento de Benahavís.

The Benahavis Town Hall and the San Pedro Athletic Club have set up the 1st Lucky Fun run with the objective of providing an opportunity for residents to enjoy sports whilst collaborating

with the neediest families. The event will be held in Benahavis

on the 22nd December to help provide food, toys, clothes and other items that participants can donate, whilst attending an enjoyable sporting occasion.

Participants will be able to sign up for the race from 10 o’clock in the morning in Avenida de Andalucía. In exchange for a donation, the participants will receive a t-shirt commemorating the event.

The race will begin at 11:00. Organizers hope that the race will become a permanent fixture and

will be known as the lucky charitable race. The participants will find three different routes. The fun run, suitable for all members of the public is a circuit of 3 kilometres and the other will be a ‘surprise race’. There will be water and juice for all participants at the finish line.

The 22nd December will become a special day for Benahavis because with this event the people will be helping those who lack sufficient resources.

Those who do not wish to take part in the race can still make a donation or give food if they wish.

Two Malaga residents and one from Cadiz take the top three prizes in the ‘reina’ category in the ‘Motos Enduro’ Championship in Benahavis

The second Benahavis endurance championship was quite a party for fans and residents of the village as the initial expectations of the organizers were doubled, with the arrival of 200 riders from all parts of Andalusia, Madrid, Ceuta and Melilla. Among them, some of the champions of Andalucia and Spain.

After a night of heavy rain and flooding, the pilots faced one of the worst scenarios of this kind: a lot of mud puddles, rivers with strong currents, rain, ... ultimately the definition of “indurance” at its best. Nevertheless, more than 100 pilots managed to finish the race without injury. The meeting was a success, in part as the organization was able to react quickly and adapt to the existing conditions.

In the ‘reina’ category, the favorite did not disappoint and Samuel Guerrero (KTM-Ortiz) from Ronda took his chance when he saw right from the start that his main rival and reigning Andalucia champion, Jose Morillo (Sherco-Ortiz) from Jerez would be unable to finish due to mechanical problems. Behind him, another champion from Cadiz and the current Spainish veteran champion, Jorge Moreno (KTM-Guigui motorcycles) took second position. Third place went to another big name, this time from Malaga, Alozaina Juan

Antonio Guzman (Yamaha-Ortiz).In the younger riders section,

another rider from Malaga, Ezequiel Ruiz (KTM) rounded off a great season and held a comfortable lead over newcomer to Endurance Motorcross, Bienvenida Hernández (KTM) from Granada. Local driver, Jaime Marin (Honda) also reached a place on the podium.

In the Senior B category, the pilot from Fuengirola and Andalucia champion, Jose Manuel Cuevas (KTM-Ortiz) gave his rivals no chances and from the start notched up the best times in the category. Behind him there was an exciting fight for second place between three riders that was not decided until the final stage. In the end, Jose Antonio Sanchez “nono” (KTM-Ortiz) also from Marbella clinched second place with third place going to the youngest of the brothers, Victor Jimenez (KTM-Ortiz) who finished three seconds behind. Fourth place went to another experienced local Sergio Aragones (Gas Gas).

In the veterans category, Senior C, Portuguese rider Azuil Arcanjo (KTM-Ortiz) now resident in Marbella, gave no respite to the other competitors and held a lead of more than a minute over second-placed Fernando Orihuela from Malaga. Quite a feat considering it was his second race. Francisco Ruiz Camacho from Seville took third place.

Finally, in the amateur category, Tarek Abderrahaman from Ceuta (Honda-Ortiz) pulled off a narrow victory. Hot on his heels and just 10 seconds behind was Rafa Romero (KTM) from Fuengirola. Third place was taken by Juan Muñoz from Estepona.

The awards ceremony was held on November 30 in the auditorium of the Town Hall of Benahavis.

Responsables de Flamingos Golf, Campo de golf Río Real, Santa María Golf, Aloha Golf Club, Las Brisas Golf Club, Los Narajnos Golf Club, La Zagaleta Club de Golf, La Quinta Golf, Valle Romano Golf, Sotogrande Club de Golf, y Antequera Golf, no quisieron perderse esta cita.

La asistencia fue excelente y los asistentes pudieron intercambiar impresiones en el almuerzo celebrado des-pués de la demostración en el Restaurante Los Arqueros Golf.

The Benahavis Catering School Restaurant, that belongs to the ‘Hispano Arabe de la Dieta Mediterránea’ Foundation, has extended its “Special Customer” menu until the end of the year.

These dishes can be enjoyed every

Monday and Wednesday at lunch time in the restaurant and are made by students of the school under the close supervision of their teachers. Besides this, meals are served by students on the ‘waiter course’, again under the supervision of the staff and the Maitre d. The cost of the meal is 28 Euros.

The restaurant has also come up with special group menus for celebratory lunches and meetings whether it be businesses or family meals in the run up to Christmas.

The prices for the Christmas menus, that include appetizer, starter, main course, dessert and red and white wine, range from 25 to 38 euros

Charity DinnerThe Benahavis Catering School will participate in the XVII Saint Nicholas Charity Dinner organized by the Concordia charity by donating a voucher for 2 tasting menus. The dinner will be held on the 5th December at the Puente Romano Hotel. This dinner aims to raise funds so that the charity can continue its important work in the fight against AIDS.

The Catering School has received recognition in the “Gastronomy”

section of the Top 10 Awards, organized by Acobanus (The association of Businesses and Commerce in Puerto Banus) in collaboration with the Marbella Town Hall. The prize was collected by the President of the Escuela Hispano Arabe de la Dieta Mediterranea Foundation and Mayor of Benahavis Jose Antonio Mena Castilla and was delivered by the ex mayor of San Pedro, Miguel Troyano. In the section, “Personalities”, Antonio Mena Garcia, the ex mayor of Benahavis and pioneer of the Catering School, was also awarded a prize. The councillor for health, Maria del Mar Martin awarded various prizes in the section “Health and Beauty”.

El restaurante de la Escuela de Hostelería de Benahavís, pertenecien-te a la Fundación Hispano Árabe de la Dieta Mediterránea, ha ampliado la oferta de menús “Especial Cliente” hasta final de año. Estos platos se pue-den degustar todos los lunes y miérco-les al mediodía en el restaurante y su elaboración corre a cargo de los alum-nos del curso de Cocina, supervisados por sus profesores. Además, son ser-vidos en el restaurante por los alum-nos del curso de Sala, también con la supervisión de los docentes y de la Maître. Su coste es de 28 euros.

Por otro lado, el Restaurante de la Escuela de Hostelería ha elaborado los

menús especiales para grupos de cara a la celebración de almuerzos y re-uniones, de empresa o familias, pre-vias a la Navidad.

Los precios de estos menús navi-deños, que incluyen aperitivo, entran-te, plato especial y postre, van desde los 25 hasta los 38 euros por persona, para un mínimo de 10, e incluyen vi-nos blanco y tinto.
