or studying abroad for a semester. If you can dream it,
chances are Oklahoma State University can make it a reality.
IMAGINE
Located in historic Old Central,
The Honors College offers
outstanding students academic
opportunities and benefits.
As a student in The Honors College,
you experience small, discussion-
based classes with top OSU faculty.
Many students cherish the close
relationships with faculty and
their peers built through The
Honors College.
Students also receive use of the
Honors study lounge and computer
lab, priority enrollment starting
their second semester and extended
library checkout privileges.
Students with a 3.75 grade-point
average AND a composite ACT
score of 27 or 1220 SAT score are
eligible for The Honors College.
After Feb. 1, admission is on a
space-available basis.
CHALLENGE YOURSELF
“The Honors College was a way for me to make a large university a little more personal. I knew it would give me special opportunities, as well as personalized attention, so I wouldn’t get lost in the shuffle. The discussion-based classes have challenged me in ways different from that of my other classes, and have also allowed me to build strong, unique relationships with both my fellow students and faculty.”
— Erica Poe
Industrial Engineering, International Business Minor Ada, Okla.
FAVORITE HONORS COLLEGE SEMINARS: “Windows to the World” and “The Holocaust.”
With a student to faculty ratio
of 19-to-1, it’s easy to talk with
your professors and get help when
you need it. Whether it’s a quick
question after class or clarification
of an assignment during office
hours, they’ll work with you. As
part of the Cowboy family, we want
you to succeed.
The excitement faculty have
for learning resonates in their
contributions to Oklahoma and the
world. Our faculty members are
presenting at national conferences,
being published in academic
journals and receiving grants to
advance research in their field.
FIND A MENTOR
“What I enjoy most about my professors is their ability to present information in a passionate, relatable manner. Their attitude becomes contagious and makes you eager to learn more about the subject, even if it’s not directly related to your major.”
— Rafael Rodriguez
Sports Management Stillwater, Okla.

Learning goes beyond the
classroom at OSU with
undergraduate research available
as early as your freshman year.
Hands-on research experience
sets you apart and enriches your
academic experience.
THE FRESHMAN RESEARCH SCHOLARS PROGRAM allows
incoming freshman the opportunity
to engage in cutting-edge research
under the guidance of faculty
researchers. The program is open
to incoming freshmen in any field
of study, and participation in The
Honors College is not required.
THE LEW WENTZ RESEARCH PROJECT awards are $4,500
scholarships given to approximately
40 undergraduate student scholars
to conduct independent research
with a faculty mentor. Students
with a minimum 3.0 GPA and
12 hours completed at OSU are
eligible to apply.
THE NIBLACK RESEARCH SCHOLARS PROGRAM, funded
by OSU alumnus Dr. John Niblack,
provides students with an $8,000
scholarship for a yearlong research
opportunity. Created as a way
to expose outstanding students
for scientific research at an early
stage in their academic career, this
program offers advisement from a
member of the research faculty and
day-to-day mentoring by a graduate
student.
“The Scholar Development & Recognition office believes firmly in the value of undergraduate research. My Wentz Research Projects have been the highlight of my undergraduate career. It’s a great way to build self-confidence and gain a competitive edge for graduate or professional school.”
— Amanda Neujahr Animal Science, Pre-Veterinary option, Zoology (double major), Biology minor
Osceola, Neb.
WENTZ RESEARCH PROJECTS: Immunology-related research using zebra finches and investigating the use of plant-derived protein sources in the diet of nursery pigs.
DREAMS OF: Becoming a veterinarian.
LIVE YOUR PASSION
It’s easy to leave your legacy with
the leadership opportunities
waiting for you at OSU. Get
involved and create your path.
Pick from more than 400 student
organizations available through
Campus Life or start your own.
Leadership roles are available each
year in OSU’s Student Government
Association.
President’s Leadership Council
offers freshmen a scholarship and
academic program that emphasizes
the importance of leadership
and service throughout life. The
yearlong course includes leadership
and ethic seminars, volunteer
service, organizing a leadership
conference for high school seniors
and completing a small group
creative component project.
MAKE YOUR MARK
“Don’t underestimate the value of campus organizations. They are a place to pursue your passions and share them with like-minded people in a realm completely separate from what is accessible from the classroom and can be the source of friendships that will last the rest of your life.”
— Kevin Craig
Human Development and Family Science, General Business Administration minorCashion, Okla.

Where you live is important. At
OSU, we offer a variety of housing
options to choose from, including
suites, apartments and community-
style housing.
We have several living learning
communities that give you the
chance to live with others who
share your interests and who may
also be taking similar classes.
Stout Hall, a community-style
housing option, is the home to
students in The Honors College.
Residents gain valuable insight into
study techniques, honors classes and
campus life from resident assistants
who are also honors students.
Whatever housing option you
choose, you will reap the benefits
of on-campus living. From study
sessions to intramural sports teams
to hall activities, the friendships
you make will last a lifetime.
“I have lived on campus for the past three years and absolutely love it. I never want to leave! I have met my best friends through living on campus and some of my favorite memories at OSU take place in the residence halls. I feel close and connected to everything. It takes me five minutes to walk to class, or I can open my window and hear the marching band playing the Alma Mater. It doesn’t get much better than that!”
— Kim Johnson
Elementary Education Schertz, Texas
FAVORITE MEMORY: Bonding with the girls on my floor during snow days by stocking up
on food from Twenty Something & watching movies in the lounge.
LIVING & LEARNING
Expand your cultural horizons
through our Study Abroad Office.
With programs at more than
70 universities in 32 countries
worldwide and opportunities for
independent study in nearly every
other country, the possibilities are
extensive.
Along with semester and full-year
study abroad programs, there
are also summer and short-term
programs available for course credit.
Short-term programs can be done
during the summer, winter session
or spring break.
The Study Abroad Office offers
scholarships for students with the
desire to experience life in another
country. Most financial aid, such as
grants, loans and scholarships, can
also be applied towards your cost of
studying abroad.
“The most rewarding experiences I had while studying abroad occurred whenever I took the time to get to know the people around me. I will never forget some of the people I met from places like Seattle, Istanbul, Zurich, Berlin and Florence. I look forward to visiting these friends I have made both near and far.”
— Wil Stokes

THINGS I’VE CHANGED SINCE TRAVELING ABROAD: I recycle, do all my dishes by hand, ask a lot more questions,
listen better and call my parents more often.
GLOBAL PERSPECTIVE
Along with our 200 majors, we also offer pre-law, pre-medicine and
pre-veterinary programs. Special advising is available, but you can pursue
these careers from any major you believe best prepares you. Once you
graduate, you can continue your studies at either of OSU’s veterinary or
medical schools, which are among the best in the nation.
