Big Bouncers Collective:Anna Rubirola, Cecilia Colacrai i Mireia de Querol.

The three of them are choreographers resident in Barcelona. At the moment they man-age the activities of the Associació La Visiva. They all have an important trajectory as choreographers, making their own work or in collaboration with other artists, as well as with the pedagogy of dance. The Collective has received the Price Premi Sebastià Gasch, Aplaudiment a la creació emergent, FAD 2015, for the piece BIG BOUNCE. At 2018 they are nominated for the Critics of the Performing Arts Awards (Catalonia) with the piece O.V.N.I as the best national dance show.

They start to work together in May 2012, sharing interests and developing a common practice, with the goal of researching and deepening their knowledge in the field of movement and performance, and also of generating their own working methodology. From the beginning of their work as a collective, they have developed three different lines of action: the creation of pieces for stage, the creation of performances for non conventional spaces “site specific”, and the pedagogy.

Until now they have created the pieces: Big Bounce (2013), Big Bounce Site Specific (2013), Doppelgänger (2014), I see a spider on the wall (2014), OVNI (2017), Acte Reflex (2018) and Jungle (2018).

SYNOPSIS

On this trip through an ecosystem, all kinds of creatures, shapes, col-ours and sounds might appear. Jun-gle is a show for all ages where you see bodies that are camouflaged, bodies that shine, float, bounce, stretch and constantly change. An unexplored space, where surprise and magic can occur at any time and where all elements are in con-tinuous movement.

Show specially recommended for child from 2 to 5 years old.

SYNOPSIS

What purpose does an object serve? What purpose does a body serve? What purpose do we serve as the audience? And as performers? What purpose does the set serve?

O.V.N.I is a piece that revolves around these questions. It proposes a journey in which the roles of bodies, objects and the audience’s gaze alternate.

This piece toys with stretching the bound-aries of what is visible and generating new relationships and new ways of look-ing at the scene.

Big Bounce has a version for family audienc-es, designed for children and their families af-ter 6 years. The creative proposal is the same, but all the language and content is adapted for children and young people, based on their imagination.Its duration is also shorter: 40’. SYNOPSIS

Big Bouncers is a scenic piece based on movement and speech which treats the con-cept of origin and plays a game of unfolding different possible futures which derivate from a common origin.

Big Bounce proposes a trip that questions the temporality of the scene throughout moving bodies which transform, alternate and com-plement each other continuously.

Big Bounce takes the name from the homonymous theory that suggests that we could be living in the first of all universes, but that it is equally probable that we would be living in the universe two thousand million (or whatever in an infinite sequence of univers-es).

SYNOPSIS

In their performances for no-conventional spaces, Big Bounce collective proposes a work centered in the relation between the movement, the word and the space.

The specificity that offers each space where they present the work, its history and context, serves as a starting point to deploy an imagi-nary on which a specific creation is build. The research is focused in the chosen space, and more precisely around its origins. The collective looks into its history, its transforma-tion, its diverse uses, the people that have inhabited it, its function in the community, its influence in the surroundings and vice versa, and also in anecdotes and personal memo-ries, important events, etc.

CECILIA COLACRAI

Dancer, maker and teacher of contemporary dance resident in Barcelona since 2002. From 1995 she is interested to deepen its knowledge in the areas of contemporary dance, improvisation, choreographic composition and other disciplines related with movement and performing arts.

At the moment and since 2012 she Works as an independent artist with Anna Rubirola and Mireia de Querol in the Big Bouncers Collective. They receive the price Premi Sebastià Gasch, Aplau-diment a la creació emergent per la peça Big Bounce, FAD 2015. Since September 2014 the Big Bouncers Collective manages the creation space La Visiva, which becomes their regular working space.

She is part of the Group LaBolsa, (Iris Heitzinger, Natalia Jimenez, Mireia de Querol, Xavier Moreno, Anna Rubirola and Federica Porello) who is directed by the choreographer Thomas Hauert in the piece “The mesure of disorder”, premiered at Festival Grec in July 2015.

She also Works with the makers Joao Lima and Anna Rubirola in the piece “Morder la llengua” and with Jorge Albuerne in the dance-circus pieces “Gira” and “Ultimo, el baile”. She created the two pieces: “Sola?” (2005) and “La incorruptible belleza de la distancia” (2011), which have been presented in diferent festivals in Spain, France, Italy, Mexico, Cuba and Argentina.

In Barcelona she has collaborated with different choreographers and projects as: Alexis Eupierre, Montse Colomé, Toni Mira and Cia. Nats Nus, space Tragant-Dansa, creation space La Caldera, and she took part in diferent video-dance projects which are developed by Assoc Cultural Fin-matun in the Centre Penitenciari de Brians; she is part of the project Sudansa since 2009 (dance at schools), amongst others. Cia. Emmanuel Grivet (France); Grupo República Cênica (Brasil); Gabri-ela Solini (Arg-Esp); Cia. Tumàka’t (México).

She gives contemporary dance classes, improvisation and composition since 1997 in Argenti-na, and since 2002 in Barcelona and other cities in Europe and South America. She is part of the direction team of APDC (Assoc. de professionals de la dansa de Catalunya) and is resident at la Caldera.

MIREIA DE QUEROL

Dancer, independent choreographer and contemporary dance teacher, resident in Barcelona. She graduated in BA Modern Theatre Danceat the Theatreschool, Amsterdam School of the Arts (AHK), Holland, 2003-2007. She also graduated in Humanities at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelo-na (2001-2008).

As a choreographer she has made several pieces, from which the solo I tots els altres (2011), won the 3er Price at Baltic Movement Contest in Gsansk, Poland (June 2011).

At the moment and since 2012 she Works with the artists Anna Rubirola and Cecilia Colacrai, in the collective Big Bouncers. They have created several pieces, amongst which Big Bounce re-ceived the award Premi Sebastià Gasch, Aplaudiment a la creació emergent, FAD 2015. The collective also manages the creation space La Visiva and since 2014 they are associated with La Caldera.

She is part of Group la Bolsa, which in collaboration with Thomas Hauert created the piece The mesure of disorder (Festival Grec 2015). She has also worked in collaboration with other independ-ent choreographers like Ona Fusté, Montserrat Iranzo, Ariadna Estalella, Anna Mustonen and Mara Smaldone.

Since 2012 she is codirector of the contemporary dance festival Mostra IN SITU,supported by Arts Santa Mònica.

As a dancer she has worked with the choreographers Kenzo Kusuda (Holland) and Compañia de Danza Plan B, directed by Arantxa Sagardoy (Spain). She works regularly with the choreographer Albert Quesada (Belgium), and with Cia.Mudances, directed by Àngels Margarit. She has also collaborated with several choreographers like Angela Lamprianidou, Ariadna Estalella and Se-bastián García Ferro.

As a teacher she has taught creative dance, contemporary dance and improvisation in several schools since 2007.

ANNA RUBIROLA

Choreographer, dancer and teacher, resident in Barcelona.

Since 2005 she combines the work as a performer with making her own creations, individually and collectively. At the moment she is part of the Big Bouncers’Collective together with Cecilia Col-acrai and Mireia de Querol, with whom she has created several works and manages the creation space La Visiva.

She is also part of G.R.U.A (Grup de Recerca d’Universos Artístics) together with Pere Faura and Claudia Solwat. G.R.U.A generates new contexts of artstic exhibition as Caravana de Tràilers (Fes-tival Grec/Festival Sismògraf, Festival TNT), and Tacet (Festival Grec).

She is part of Group LaBolsa, formed by diferent dance makers, with whom until now has created the piece The mesure of disorder, directed by Thomas Hauert (Festival Grec 2015, Charleroi Dans-es 2015).

She has collaborated in several creations with the artists Pere Faura, Roger Bernat, Joao Lima, Ma-ria Montseny, Mira Calix and Alexander’s Annex (London), Oriol Roca, and Vrak’ Trio (France).

She has worked as a performer with several companies: Àlex Rigola, Erre que Erre, Sol Picó, Ilia-can, Búbulus, Array (London), F.& C. Ben Aïm (Paris). She has participated in the projects Caldera Express directed by Julyen Hamilton and John Jasperse.

She has choreographed and directed the phisical training for actors in theatre productions direct-ed by Pau Carrió and Àlex Rigola.

She teaches workshops of contemporary dance, improvisation and composition since 2000 in dif-ferent International centers. (Conservatori de dansa de València, Institut del Teatre de Barcelona, amongst others).
