excursion 1 - Duisburg Nord Landscape Park
duisburg, germany
excursion 2 - freight railway station Moontse
Moontse, Belgium
excursion 3 - jugendpark cologne
cologne, germany
the topic of our first field trip to Duis-
burg was the documentation of the struc-
tural and temporal changes of a former
industrial used area.
my intention is this work was to capture
the confrontation and co-existence bet-
ween man made industrial elements and
structures of nature.
where men once displaced the area with industrial
structures...nature retrieves its space
high steel giants rise high into
the air...
the complexity and dimension of
blast furnace is breathtaking
and frightening at the same time
the freight depot in Moontse, belgium was
once used as an industrial used railway
connection between germany and belgium.
since its decommissioning the train stati-
on has developed to a lost space with a
frightened scenery.
i wanted to catch the atmosphere in my
photos and tried to involve light and
shadow to express the area‘s frightening
emptyness and spectacular abandonment.
the main goal of or last excursion was to
focus on geometrical and pictoral compo-
sition in photography. I wanted to capture
geometrical connections of different ele-
ments to create well composed and atmo-
spheric pictures.
