“ No Time for That” Anti-Bullying Presentation

On Tuesday, October 30th our Grade 3-8 students will take part in this anti-bullying presentation from 10:45-11:45 am in the gym. All parents and families are invited and welcome to attend this powerful presentation.

The No Time for That Anti-Bullying Society is a Registered Canadian Charity. Using personal stories and music, they offer the "No Time for That" Tour, delivering a professional 45 minute interactive presentation about bullying prevention, mental health awareness, and youth empowerment through speaking, live music, video, and volunteer activities.

The “No Time for That” Tour has visited over 500 schools across Canada so far and the response has been absolutely amazing. Our award winning founder Elsie Morden who is a motivational speaker, and singer/songwriter will be the presenter.

They do not charge a fee but ask schools for donations and we will make a donation as a school to the NTFT organization. They also raise money by selling promotional items that can be purchased the day of the presentation or on their website.

So if students would like to purchase items on Tuesday they will be able to do so after the presentation.

For more information you can visit their website: https://www.ntft.ca

The 10 Building Blocks of Catholic Social Teaching – How to Live a Culture of Encounter as Directed By Our Holy Father, Pope Francis

To live a culture of encounter we must focus on the basic fundamentals of our social teachings of the Catholic Church. Building Block #1 The Principle of Human Dignity.

"Every human being is created in the image of God and redeemed by Jesus Christ, and therefore is invaluable and worthy of respect as a member of the human family." This is the bedrock principle of Catholic social teaching. Every person--regardless of race, sex, age, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, employment or economic status, health, intelligence, achievement or any other differentiating characteristic--is worthy of respect. It is not what you do or what you have that gives you a claim on respect; it is simply being human that establishes your dignity. Given that dignity, the human person is, in the Catholic view, never a means, always an end.

The body of Catholic social teaching opens with the human person, but it does not close there. Individuals have dignity and the principle of human dignity gives the human person a claim on membership in a community, the human family.

Baptism for Older Children In the past year or so we have had

inquiries from the parents of a number of children who have not been baptized; and their child is showing a keen interest in receiving the sacrament of baptism. Because of this, Holy Spirit parish will offer a program beginning in November for children 8 years old and older who would like to explore the possibility of becoming Catholic. We will meet three times before Christmas right after school for one hour on whichever day works best for the most children. I’d love to speak with you if you’d like more information. I can be reached at Holy Spirit parish 306-374-1425 or by email [email protected]. I look forward to hearing from you!

Children must be accompanied by a French speaking adult. The program will run from 2 – 3 :45 pm on the second Saturday of each month, starting October 13, 2018 until June 8, 2019. La P’tite Pasto is located at Sts. Martyr-Canadiens Church, 1007 Windsor St, Saskatoon. The registration fee is $20 for families with 1 or 2 children and $30 for families with 3 or more children.
