long service leave at the

end of last term. Mr and

Mrs A had a wonderful

time during their holiday

to New York, with their

days filled with lots of

sightseeing and

adventures!

We also warmly

welcome Mr Aaron

O'Driscoll from the

University of Newcastle,

who will be with us for all

of Term 3, completing his

Internship with Mrs A

and Year 5/6. I think Mr

O'Driscoll is already

realising how lucky he is

to be at our wonderful

little school and working

with Deb and our

incredible Stage 3

students!

A special, special

welcome also to Bethany

and her family, Bethany

started yesterday in Mr

Braye's class and we

wish her and her lovely

family a very warm

welcome to Black

TERM 3

NEWSLETTERS Our fortnightly newsletter

routine will continue

again this term. A long

extended newsletter will

be emailed on odd

weeks, with a short 1-

page newsletter being

given out on even

weeks. Each week our

newsletters are emailed

to families and are also

available to access on

our school website. Each

family will also continue

to receive the front page

WELCOME BACK! Welcome to Term 3!

We hope you had a

wonderful school holiday

break and were able to

do some of those things

that we just don't often

get a chance to do

during school term when

our busy weekly

schedules are often

taken up with school and

after school activities,

not to mention making

lunches, ironing

uniforms and just plain

old wondering where the

days and weeks go!

Maybe you and your

children had a sleep in

and pyjama day, saw a

movie, visited family and

friends, played a game,

or even just had a little

extra time to have a

chat, I am sure there

were some special

moments together. I love

the quote, "Enjoy the

little things in life, for one

day you will look back

and realise they were

the big things." It

certainly sums up that

even though our days

and weeks are often so

busy, it is important just

to take that little bit of

time whenever we can

just to enjoy those

special moments.

We're thrilled to have

Mrs Adamthwaite back

with us, following her

every week, which

contains important

dates, reminders, etc.

There will also be a link

on our Facebook page

to access our current

newsletter. Please take

a moment each week to

read our newsletters.

Considerable time is

spent in preparing these

and they are the most

effective way to keep up

to date with everything

happening at our school.

Hard copies of the

extended newsletter are

also available at the

office. Thank you for

your support with this.

ADMINISTRATION

BUILDING

UPGRADE As you would have

noticed we are very

lucky to be getting a

complete refurbishment

of our administration

building. Builders,

painters and a host of

other contractors were

busy working on this

building during the

school holidays. It is

anticipated that the work

should be completed

within the next few

weeks. I ask that you

take a little extra care

when walking near this

area, especially during

morning drop off and

afternoon pick up.

Thanks you for your

support and

understanding with this.

NAIDOC WEEK NAIDOC Week

celebrations are held

across Australia each

July to celebrate the

history, culture and

achievements of

Aboriginal and Torres

Strait Islander peoples.

NAIDOC is celebrated

not only in Indigenous

communities, but by

Australians from all

walks of life. NAIDOC

originally stood for

‘National Aborigines

and Islanders Day

Observance

Committee’. This

committee was once

responsible for

organising national

activities during

NAIDOC Week and its

acronym has since

become the name of

the week itself.

NAIDOC Week 2019

was officially held

during the first week of

our school holidays.

Today our students

enthusiastically

participated in NAIDOC

activities and we

warmly welcomed Leon

Hammond, a local

Aboriginal Elder and

some very talented

local Aboriginal high

school students. Keep

an eye out in next

fortnight's newsletter for

a further update...

BUNNINGS BBQ A very big and very

heartfelt thank you to all

of our wonderful

which was held the first

Sunday of the holidays.

We had so many mums,

students so generously

come along and help out

cooking sausages,

making sandwiches,

serving and cleaning up.

On the day we sold

about $1,150 worth of

sausage sandwiches

and cans of drink. Once

our costings have been

finalised, we should

make about $850 profit,

which will go directly

towards the Stage 3

Canberra excursion.

A wonderful, wonderful

STORY TIME

The Railway Track One day my friend Isabelle and I went to investigate an old mysterious forest.

We got there at 4 o’clock in the morning. We walked there because it was just across the road.

When we got there Isabelle and I saw an old broken down railway track. Isabelle and I went to the railway and

followed it to the end.

“Aaaahhhhhhhhhh!!! There is a cart with a skeleton in it!” I screamed.

The skeleton was moving it was very scary. Isabelle and I ran trying to get away but it was too fast!

“Isabelle” I yelled. “I’ve got an idea, try pulling one of its legs out of position.” It worked! The skeleton had

stopped running and broke. “Few”, Isabelle panted.

Isabelle found a tyre swing that went over the bridge, so we started to play on it & it broke with a loud Crack!!!

Luckily the bridge was there to save us.

Isabelle and I stood up, but the bridge couldn’t hold the weight. Snap!! The bridge broke Isabelle and I fell to the

bottom of the hills. We couldn’t back out so Isabelle and I started to call for help.

“There is somebody coming” Isabelle said. Isabelle was right, there was someone coming to save us. The person

threw a rope ladder down and told us to climb up it. The person was a girl called Emi.

The Train Track I was walking in the dangerous forest with my sister. We found an old rusty abandoned train track. It was not to

be trusted. It was creepy, over grown and who knows where the demolished track led.

“It leads to a cave, where a troll lives,” I whispered. “Nah!” yells Maddison.

“You wanna make a bet?” I respond in a scared whisper.

“Yeah, I bet ya five bucks, you better just pay me now.” Maddison replies in hushed tones.

“Well let’s find out,” I say with confidence.

As we go across the foggy abandoned over grown track, it starts to creak.

“Ahhh,” we screeched. Some of the sleepers break. We hold on for dear life, but my foot slips, I slip.

I grab onto the rusty metal track. I yell to my sister, “Pull me up!” So she does.

We keep on walking until we hear a growl.

“What is that?” We ask quietly.

“Ahhhh! It’s a…a…a… well I don’t know,” as cool as possible to hide the fact she doesn’t know.

“Hahaha! Sister, you have so much to learn. It’s Big Foot! RUN!!!!!! NOOO!!! The other way,” I shout.

As we run, he follows after us. Crack! The bridge brakes behind him. He tumbles.

Now how will we get back? We start to wonder where the end is. We see a lady in the distance, it’s an old lady. I

guess we were both wrong? It wasn’t a Troll or a Big Foot, it was an Old Lady trying to help us.

“So how do we get back?” We say. The old lady then whistles. A helicopter appears. The old lady tries to say hop

on but her teeth fall out. Gross!
