Bleeding Out Lyric AnalysisBleeding Out - Night Visions Imagine Dragons(Verses that have the same number go together because of their meanings. My interpretations for each group of verses are numbered to match the number of the group they explain.)

I'm bleeding out 1So if the last thing that I do 2Is bring you down 2I'll bleed out for you 1So I bare my skin 1And I count my sins 1 And I close my eyes 1And I take it in 1I'm bleeding out 1I'm bleeding out for you, for you 1

When the day has come 3That I've lost my way around 3And the seasons stop and hide beneath the ground 4When the sky turns gray 4And everything is screaming 4I will reach inside 5Just to find my heart is beating 5

Oh, you tell me to hold on 6 Oh, you tell me to hold on 6But innocence is gone 2And what was right is wrong 2

'Cause I'm bleeding out 1So if the last thing that I do 2Is to bring you down 2I'll bleed out for you 1So I bare my skin 1And I count my sins 1And I close my eyes 1And I take it in 1And I'm bleeding out 1I'm bleeding out for you (for you) 1

When the hour is nigh 7And hopelessness is sinking in 7And the wolves all cry 7To fill the night with hollering 7When your eyes are red 8And emptiness is all you know 8With the darkness fed 8I will be your scarecrow 8

You tell me to hold on 6Oh you tell me to hold on 6But innocence is gone 2And what was right is wrong 2

'Cause I'm bleeding out 1So if the last thing that I do 2Is to bring you down 2I'll bleed out for you 1So I bare my skin 1And I count my sins 1And I close my eyes 1And I take it in 1And I'm bleeding out 1I'm bleeding out for you, for you 1

I'm bleeding out for you (for you) 1I'm bleeding out for you (for you) 1I'm bleeding out for you (for you) 1I'm bleeding out for you 1

1- Jesus subjected himself to torture without putting up a fight despite his innocence. He bared his skin, did not fight, and just took it the pain although he knew he never even sinned. Why did he do this? For you. 2- The So if the last thing I do is bring you down is misleading. My interpretation of it is that Jesus teachings were mostly stricter versions of the Jewish Law. He reestablished the covenant. As the preacher at my church puts it, Through Jesus Gods expectations increased, but so did his Grace. When Gods expectations grew, it sort of put everyone in the danger zone. That is why Jesus died for us; it was an act of Gods Grace. In other words, If the last thing that I do is bring you down, I'll bleed out for you, is saying that Jesus bled out for you because through him, Gods rules became stricter. If he did not redeem the human race, everyone would be brought down to spend eternity in Hell. The verses, But innocence is gone, and what was right is wrong, support this interpretation even more. Because Gods expectations grew, none of us are innocent. Many things that were considered right according to the Jewish Law are now wrong according to the teachings of Jesus. If you read Jesus famous Sermon on the Mount, you will see excellent examples of this.3- These verses refer to the day Jesus time had come and he was arrested. He lost his way around because he was taken prisoner.4- These three verses are about what happened right after the death of Jesus. Strange things happened in the environment. There was earthquake and the sky darkened although it was midday. It seemed as if the earth was screaming and mourning. 5- This verse is simple, yet powerful. Jesus rose again after his crucifixion. 6- Jesus disciples, friends, and family did not see the big picture until after the Resurrection. They mourned for him and were against his execution. Many Christians are like this today. They feel terrible about Jesus death. However, Innocence is gone, and what was right is wrong, so Jesus had to die for us. He saw the big picture; it was Gods plan from the very beginning. Some of us wanted him to hold on, but the prophecy had to be fulfilled. 7- These verses refer to times when you feel hopeless, you are surrounded by evil, or hardship is near.8- When you have strayed away from Jesus, you do not know Gospel, or you have done wrong, remember that Jesus bled out for you. Scarecrow symbolizes Jesus on the cross because his position and the shape of the cross made him look similar to a scarecrow.
