A letter from the Pastor My dear People at Blessed Seelos Parish: Matthew, Mark, and John all speak of the miracle of Jesus walking on the water. Only Luke fails to include this miraculous event in his Gospel. Obviously, the fact that it made it into three of the four canonical Gospels, tells us that there is something more than a legend to this Gospel narrative. Let us explore further. The waters are mentioned from the beginning of Creation, as in the Book of Genesis the Spirit of the Lord hovered over the waters. The great flood reminded the people during the time of Noah of how vulnerable they were when it came to match the power of God. The waters were also a sign of freedom as Moses led the Israelites through the waters of the Red Sea. In Jesus walking on the waters of the Sea of Galilee we have all those stories coming together: He is the re-creator of the world to a new order according to the will of His Father God, He shows his strength as God over all the powers of nature and of the earth, and He comes to bring us new freedom in Him. The disciples did not fail to notice this, as Peter proclaims Him the Son of the Living God! Mateo, Marcos y Juan todos mencionan este milagro de Jesús caminando sobre las aguas. Solo Lucas deja de mencionar este evento milagroso en su evangelio. Obviamente, el hecho que este relato fuera incluido en tres de los cuatro evangelios canónicos, nos deja saber que esto es más que una leyenda. Estudiemos un poco más. What are some practical steps we can take to increase the level of our faith? 1. Read the Bible. You must nurture your faith with a steady diet of God's Word. 2. Exercise your faith. Regular exercise of faith can produce similar spiritual growth. 3. Accept the tests. Just as fire purifies precious metals, difficulties eliminate all that is not pure faith. 4. Observe the testimonies of others. When you hear the powerful deeds of God in someone else's life, your faith in Him grows. 5. Pray. You get to know a person talking to her. But do not talk only; Be sure to take the time to listen to what God wants to tell you. ¿Cuáles son algunos pasos prácticos que podemos dar para aumentar el nivel de nuestra fe? 1. Leer la Biblia.
