Welcome to Bond College.
Located on Bond University’s classically designed campus on Queensland’s
Gold Coast, Bond College is fully integrated with the university’s
educational structure and lifestyle.
All of our programs have been designed with a concentrated emphasis on

Our reputation is built on personal teaching, small classes and plenty of

Bond University was given its University status in 1987, having been established under an Act
of the Queensland Parliament. Bond is part of the Australian system of higher education, and is
recognised as an accredited Australian university by the Australian Ministerial Council on Education,
Employment, Training and Youth Affairs (MCEETYA), which is responsible for establishing national
protocols for education in Australia. It is also a full member of Universities Australia (UA) and the
Association of Commonwealth Universities.

Choice of starting datesBond College’s intakes in January, May and September coincide with Bond University’s intake dates, allowing students to move straight into their degree program of choice.
Accelerated study programBond College’s Foundation Program takes two semesters to complete. This fast-track option allows students to complete their Foundation Program as well as the first semester of a university degree all in one year.
Personalised teaching environmentIn line with the University’s trademark personalised approach, Bond College students study in small class groups with teachers who know you by name and have an open-door policy to assist you with specific problems or challenges.
Adjusting to the Australian style of learningBond College programs offer students the chance to adjust to the more interactive, discussion-based style of learning practised in Australian universities. Students are eased into class participation in a supportive environment.
Student mentoringStudents receive regular feedback on their academic progress, with one-on-one help available if there are any problems. Weekly attendance monitoring and welfare checks ensure students are integrating into university life in Australia.
Student supportIn addition to the assistance available from teaching staff, students at Bond College have access to free English language and academic skills workshops and individual appointments with the Student Learning advisor. Bond College students also have access to the University’s counselling services, medical clinic and international student services team. We also offer a safe and relaxed environment, with campus security patrols 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
English language supportInternational students have full access to all the English language teaching facilities available within the College, as well as the on-campus Bond College Student Learning Advisor who offers assistance with skills in preparation for university study.
Guaranteed university entryStudents who successfully complete Bond College’s Foundation Program will be guaranteed a place at Bond University*. Students successfully completing the Master’s Qualifying Program will gain entry into selected programs**.

Our team of highly qualified and experienced teachers continue to offer a variety of English language programs ranging from General English for everyday use through to Academic English courses that meet the various proficiency levels required for entry into university study.

DESCRIPTIONDesigned to improve your English skills in speaking, listening, reading, writing and grammar.
CONTENTClasses are available at all levels from elementary to advanced and focus on everyday English. You will take part in a variety of activities including active listening, pair and group practice, vocabulary and grammar development, role play and drama, excursions to local places of interest, newspaper reading, discussion groups, writing workshops, daily journals (with corrections and grammar activities), music, television and movies, debates, games, speed reading and self-access and computer-assisted learning.
LENGTH Students progress at their own pace and are tested every five weeks, moving to the next level as soon as they have improved sufficiently. Full-time students study for 25 hours a week and part-time students study for 17.5 hours per week (mornings only) if their visa permits.
STARTING DATESGeneral English classes operate on a 10-week cycle throughout the year, except for 10 days over the Christmas / New Year period. Students may commence any Monday but it is recommended to start at the beginning of a cycle. Please consult the website for specific dates www.bond.edu.au/bueli.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTSThere are no entry requirements for this program. There are six levels of General English. Each student is tested on arrival to ensure placement in the right class.
FURTHER STUDY General English can help you prepare for Business English, Cambridge First Certificate in English (FCE) and English for Academic Purposes (EAP). IELTS preparation is also available in some streams, depending on student demand.

DESCRIPTIONDesigned to improve your academic English and study skills in order to enrol in Bond University and other further education courses in Australia and internationally.
CONTENTLevel 1 Develop language and study skills through planning and writing essays, improving reading speed, learning how to take and organise notes and planning and delivering short speeches and presentations.Level 2 Develop writing skills, research skills for essay writing, text analysis skills and note-taking strategies.Level 3 Develop skills in writing reports and essays, note-taking from written and spoken texts, understanding university lectures, research and study skills, arguments and debates.
LENGTHEach level takes 14 weeks studying full-time, 25 hours per week, five hours of which will be in independent study and / or individual consultation.
STARTING DATESEAP courses start in January, May and September, in line with Bond University’s academic semesters to allow you to progress easily into the University’s degree programs.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTSTo start an EAP course, students will need to successfully pass an EAP entry test. EAP students should have a good school and study record that meets University entry requirements.
As a guide, IELTS results usually correspond to the following EAP entry levels:
FURTHER STUDYSuccessful completion of EAP3 will satisfy the English language entry requirements for most Bond University degree programs. Most students who complete the EAP courses go on to enrol at Bond University.

DESCRIPTIONDesigned to teach you how to communicate more effectively in the business world, this course will improve your business english in reading, writing, speaking and listening. You will also improve your grammatical accuracy and expand your vocabulary.
CONTENTThe Business English course covers language related to teamwork, the office, communication, corporate hospitality, company structures and systems, buying and selling, customer service, travel and conference meetings, reporting results, health and safety, marketing, presentations, jobs and careers.
LENGTHThis course runs for 10 weeks, studying full-time (25 hours per week). Minimum study period is five weeks.
STARTING DATESBusiness English programs commence every five weeks throughout the year, except for 10 days over the Christmas / New Year period. Students may commence any Monday but it is best to start at the beginning of a five-week program.

STUDY TOURSBUELI specialises in designing short-term study tours that combine intensive English language classes with excursions to the Gold Coast’s favourite holiday attractions. Each itinerary is individually tailored to meet the specific needs of the group.

CAMBRIDGE FCE (FIRST CERTIFICATE IN ENGLISH)CRICOS 066083B
DESCRIPTIONDesigned to prepare highly motivated students for the Cambridge FCE examination, which is recognised internationally for employment and study purposes.
CONTENTThis course develops language skills for work in areas such as banking, airlines, catering etc. This is the most widely taken of all the Cambridge exams.
LENGTHThis course runs for 10 - 12 weeks, studying full-time (25 hours per week).
STARTING DATESCambridge FCE courses are offered four times a year, with each one ending just prior to the Cambridge FCE exam date.

I started playing tennis when I was five years old. I gained a scholarship to the Northern Territory Institute of Sport at 14. I have travelled the world playing tennis and met lots of people from different cultures. Unfortunately, I had an injury and had to stop playing at an elite level. I decided to do a degree at Bond because it is the best and was always my number one choice. I am currently at Bond College and I am impressed by the high level of help and friendly staff. I am amazed by the beautiful campus. I want to do a Bachelor of Sports Management and eventually run my own tennis centre. I feel Bond College is the best preparation for my degree because it’s relevant preparation to study at university level and there is lots of help.

UNDERGRADUATE PATHWAY The Foundation Program offered by Bond College is a 28-week course of study with a minimum of 720 scheduled course contact hours, specifically designed to prepare students for entry into Bond University’s undergraduate degrees.
Suitable for Australian and international students, it bridges the gap between secondary and tertiary studies, providing access to undergraduate programs in the faculties of Business, Health Sciences & Medicine, Humanities & Social Sciences, Law and the Insititute of Sustainable Development & Architecture.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTSAustralian StudentsEntry to Bond College’s Foundation Program is available to secondary school students who have completed Year 11 or equivalent under the Australian Quality Framework (AQF). Aptitude tests may also be available to determine suitability for entry.
International StudentsAcademic entry requirements for individual countries are listed in the table on page 15.

ENTRY INTO BOND UNIVERSITYStudents must achieve a pass grade in all subjects to gain entry into an undergraduate degree at Bond University.
LAW PROGRAMSBond College students must achieve 65 per cent overall for direct entry into undergraduate degrees offered by the Faculty of Law. Provisional entry will be granted to those who achieve 60 to 64 per cent.
HEALTH SCIENCES & MEDICINE PROGRAMSBond College students must achieve a minimum 65 per cent overall, including 65 per cent in pre-requisite subjects, for direct entry into undergraduate degrees offered by the Faculty of Health Sciences & Medicine.
There is no direct pathway from Bond College into the Bachelor of Medicine Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS). For entry into MBBS refer to www.bond.edu.au/mbbs.
Important note:While every effort will be made to eliminate timetable problems, students choosing pathways into the Faculty of Health Sciences & Medicine may not be able to complete their Foundation Program in two terms due to timetable clashes and subject / degree choices.
BACHELOR OF ARCHITECTURAL STUDIESStudents wishing to apply for the Bachelor of Architectural Studies will need to achieve a 65 per cent average in all eight subjects of the foundation program to satisfy the minimum requirement to apply for and be considered for a competitive place.
SUBJECT CREDITSAs part of the Foundation Program, all students will undertake two university core subjects for which they will receive credit when they transfer into their chosen undergraduate degree.
STARTING DATESStudents may enter the Foundation Program at the start of any semester. The Bond College timetable is aligned with Bond University’s three-semesters-per-year schedule, allowing Bond College graduates to commence their university studies shortly after completing the Foundation Program.

I enjoy Bond College because I meet like-minded students in a goal focused environment. The facilities are the state of the art which I believe will help me gain a competitive edge in my career. My initial impressions of Bond were that I felt relaxed, empowered and motivated. The foundation program combines practical applications in a fun and interesting environment. POSTGRADUATE PATHWAYThe Master’s Qualifying Program is a 14-week (one semester) course of study, designed for students who have completed an undergraduate degree or diploma overseas.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTSIndia Completion of a bachelor’s degree which does not meet the academic entry requirements for direct entry into postgraduate study, awarded in NOOSR section 2 (3rd class), NOOSR section 3 (2nd or 3rd class) and Section 4 (1st Class).
China Completion of three or four year diploma or certificate of graduation, with 70 per cent or more from a degree granting MOE institution (without evidence of a bachelor’s degree being awarded). Other diploma qualifications will be assessed on application.
Other nationalities will be assessed on a case by case basis. Individual cases will be referred to the Office of Admissions to determine entry level for MQP or eligibility for direct entry to postgraduate studies.

ENTRY INTO BOND UNIVERSITYProvided faculty and degree-specific entry requirements are satisfied, the Master’s Qualifying Program provides direct access to selected postgraduate programs in the faculties of Business and Humanities & Social Sciences (see the following). Entry into the faculties of Law and Health Sciences & Medicine will be assessed on an individual basis.
STARTING DATESStudents may enter the Master’s Qualifying Program at the start of any semester. The Bond College timetable is aligned with Bond University’s three-semesters-per-year schedule, allowing Bond College graduates to commence their university studies shortly after completing the Master’s Qualifying Program.

HOMESTAYHomestay is a popular choice for international students who are looking for a family lifestyle. The arrangements for each homestay vary depending upon your host family. Students wanting homestay accommodation will need to contact Bond College to make the necessary arrangements.
PLEASE NOTE
The Australian Government regulations require that students who are under the age of 18 have approved accommodation and welfare arrangements in place. For students who will not be living with a parent, custodian or eligible relative over the age of 21 they will need to contact Bond College to make suitable homestay or on-campus accommodation arrangements.
AIRPORT ARRIVAL TRANSFERSBond College can arrange transport from Brisbane or Gold Coast airport to your accommodation. Arrival transfers can be booked online at www.bond.edu.au/accommodation as soon as you have your flight details. Bookings must be made at least one week prior to your arrival. English language students must apply for airport transfer on their application form.
ORIENTATION WEEkAt the start of each semester, an Orientation Week is held for Bond College Foundation Program or MQP students where you have an opportunity to meet your teachers and classmates, and tour the campus. Students will be given their study schedule and the Student Advisor will be available to discuss their studies and future degree requirements. English language students receive orientation upon arrival.

LIVING EXPENSESGENERAL LIVING EXPENSESStudents should budget approximately AUD$220 per week for general living expenses such as personal items, social outings, transportation and miscellaneous living costs.
TEXTBOOkSTextbooks for the Foundation Program will cost approximately AUD$700 and for the Master’s Qualifying Program, approximately AUD$400. English Language Program students will be advised of the required texts at the start of their course. All books will be available from the Bond University bookshop or directly supplied by the College.

AIRPORT PICk-UPThe airport pickup fee from the Gold Coast or Brisbane airport is AUD$40.
STUDENT ACTIVITIES MEMBERSHIP (OPTIONAL)While our Student Activities Membership (SAM) fee of AUD$110 per semester is optional, this nominal charge will give you free access to all of our on-campus sporting facilities and clubs. The membership is solely used to support student events and activities. This fee is compulsory for English language students.
TUITION ASSISTANCEFEE-HELPIf you are an Australian citizen or a holder of a permanent humanitarian visa, you will be able to access the Australian Government’s student loan program called FEE-HELP. 1. Complete the application form for Bond College admission. Please ensure you complete all sections of the form. You will be required to attach certified evidence of your academic levels (for international students these documents must be translated into English). International students will also be required to provide their IELTS results. PLEASE NOTE: If you are under the age of 18 the application form must be signed by your parent or legal guardian.

3. Bond College will send you a Letter of Offer setting out the details of the program and any conditions you will be required to meet before being admitted.
4. You will be required to sign the Response to Offer and return it, along with your fees to Bond College.
VISA REGULATIONSInternational citizens will need to apply for an Australian visa before leaving their home. The Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) offers a number of visa classes for visitors to Australia. If you are coming (or want to come) to Australia to study for longer than three months you will be required to apply for an AustralianStudent Visa. Student Visa holders are required to attend classes full-time and maintain over 80 per cent attendance in class. If eligible, Tourist Visa holders may study for three months and are not permitted to work in Australia. If eligible, Working Holiday Visa holders may study for up to 17 weeks and work for the rest of the year.

COMPULSORY HEALTH INSURANCEThe Australian Government requires that all international Student Visa holders and their dependants must have Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) before they apply for a Student Visa. OSHC goes towards covering the fees for doctors, private specialists, surgeons, shared hospital ward accommodation, emergency ambulance transport, prescription medicines and some other medical services. If you extend your visa, you must also extend your OSHC. Your Student Visa cannot be issued until this insurance has been arranged and the premium paid in advance to our preferred provider, OSHC Worldcare.
