Located within the Bond University campus on Queensland’s Gold Coast,
Bond College is fully integrated with the University’s educational structure
and lifestyle.
All of our programs have been designed with an emphasis on intellectual

Bond University was given its University status in 1987, having been established under an Act
of the Queensland Parliament. Bond is part of the Australian system of higher education, and is
recognised as an accredited Australian university by the Australian Ministerial Council on Education,
Employment, Training and Youth Affairs (MCEETYA), which is responsible for establishing national
protocols for education in Australia. It is also a full member of Universities Australia (UA) and the
Association of Commonwealth Universities.

ENGLISH LANGUAGE PROGRAMSBond College incorporates Bond University English Language Institute (BUELI). our team of highly qualified and experienced teachers offer a variety of English language programs ranging from General English for everyday use through to Academic English courses that meet the various proficiency levels required for entry into university study.
Studying in small classes, you will benefit from personalised tuition and the opportunity to meet fellow students from all over the world.
BUELI is fully accredited by the Australian national English Accreditation Scheme (nEAS) and is a member of the English Australia group of colleges.
GENERAL ENGLISH

General English is designed to improve your English skills in speaking, listening, reading, writing and grammar.
Content / AssessmentClasses are available from elementary to advanced levels and focus on everyday English. Activities in which you will take part include:• Active listening• Pair and group practise• vocabulary and grammar• Role play and drama• Excursions• Writing workshops• Games, music, television and movies
General English students are assessed on weekly tasks, as well as mid-term and end of term tests in the core skills of reading, writing, grammar, speaking and listening.
Students who successfully complete their level will receive a BUELI cerficiate.
Lengthour programs are self paced and students are tested every five weeks. once a student has improved sufficiently, they may move up to the next level. on average a student can expect to stay in one level for 10 weeks. Full-time students study for 25 hours per week.
Part-time study is also available (visa permitting) for 17.5 hours per week.
Schedule and feesGeneral English programs commence every 10 weeks throughout the year, except for 10 days over the Christmas and new Year period. CAMBRIDGE FCE (FIRST CERTIFICATE IN ENGLISH)

This program is designed to prepare highly motivated students for the Cambridge First Certificate in English (FCE) examination, which is recognised internationally for employment and study purposes.
Entry requirementsUpper intermediate level. You are required to take a BUELI entry test to check if you are ready for this course. You may be advised to take General English first.
Content / AssessmentThis intensive course is designed to increase your ‘natural English’ capabilities including:• Developing reading and listening skills.• Improving writing skills: transactional letters, emails,
reports and job applications.• Expanding your topic-specific vocabulary and informal
everyday expressions.• Enhancing your fluency and pronunciation while
removing translation errors.
Students undertake the Cambridge exam at one of the local accredited testing centres. Those who successfully complete their level will receive a BUELI certificate.
LengthThe Cambridge FCE program is 10 to 12 weeks long when studying full-time at 25 hours per week. The course is offered four times each year and each course ends just before a Cambridge FCE exam date.

BUSINESS ENGLISH

Business English is designed to teach you how to communicate more effectively in the business world. This course will improve your business English language skills in reading, writing, speaking and listening. You will also improve your grammatical accuracy and expand your vocabulary.
Entry requirementsUpper intermediate level. You are required to take a BUELI entry test to qualify for this course. You may be advised to take General English first.
Content / AssessmentThe Business English course covers language relating to teamwork, the office, communication, corporate hospitality, company structures and systems, buying and selling, customer service, travel and conference meetings, reporting results, health and safety, marketing, presentations, jobs and careers. Progressive assessments are based on regular in-class tests and projects.
Students who successfully complete their level will receive a BUELI certificate.
LengthThe Business English program is 10 weeks in duration. Classes commence every five weeks, and the minimum study period is five weeks. The Business English course is full-time at 25 hours per week.

Content / Assessment The English for Academic Purposes (EAP) course is a full-time program. There are three levels – each level is one semester long. When you apply, you will be placed in the right level of the program for your level of English.

Level 2Develop writing skills, research skills for essay writing, text analysis skills and note-taking strategies.
Level 3Develop skills in writing reports and essays, note-taking from written and spoken texts, understanding university lectures, research and study skills, arguments and debates.

The Foundation Program offered by Bond College is a 28-week course of study with a minimum of 720 scheduled course contact hours. It is specifically designed to prepare you for entry into Bond University’s undergraduate degrees.
A Bond College graduation certificate is provided upon successful completion. This program is offered on campus only.
Suitable for Australian and international students, it bridges the gap between secondary and tertiary studies, providing access to undergraduate programs in the Faculties of Business, Health Sciences & Medicine, Humanities & Social Sciences, Law and the Insititute of Sustainable Development & Architecture.

ENTRy REqUIREMENTSAustralian StudentsEntry to Bond College’s Foundation Program is available to secondary school students who have completed Year 11 or equivalent under the Australian Quality Framework. Aptitude tests may also be available to determine suitability for entry.
Recognition of Prior LearningStudents who have previously studied at a foundation level or higher are eligible to apply for credit. Applications should be made in writing to the Director of Bond College.
International StudentsAcademic entry requirements for individual countries are listed in the table on page 16.
English Language Requirements Direct entry into the Foundation Program requires an IELTS score of 6.0 or successful completion of EAP Level 2.

ENTRy INTO BOND UNIVERSITy You must achieve a pass grade in all subjects of the Foundation Program to gain entry into an undergraduate degree at Bond University.
Starting DatesYou may enter the Foundation Program at the start of any semester. The Bond College timetable is aligned with Bond University’s semester intakes, allowing Bond College graduates to commence their university studies shortly after completing the Foundation Program.
Subject creditsAs part of the Foundation Program, you will undertake two university core subjects for which you will receive credit when you transfer into your chosen undergraduate degree.
Law programsBond College students must achieve 65 per cent overall for direct entry into undergraduate degrees offered by the Faculty of Law. Provisional entry will be granted to those who achieve 60 to 64 per cent.
Health Sciences & Medicine programsBond College students must achieve a minimum 65 per cent overall, including 65 per cent in prerequisite subjects, for direct entry into undergraduate degrees offered by the Faculty of Health Sciences & Medicine.
There is no direct pathway from Bond College into the Bachelor of Medicine Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS). For entry into MBBS refer to www.bond.edu.au/mbbs.
Important note: While every effort will be made to eliminate timetable problems, students choosing pathways into the Faculty of Health Sciences & Medicine may not be able to complete their Foundation Program in two terms due to timetable clashes and subject / degree choices.
Bachelor of Architectural StudiesThose wishing to apply for the Bachelor of Architectural Studies will need to achieve a 65 per cent average in all eight subjects of the Foundation Program to satisfy the minimum requirement to apply for and be considered for a competitive place.

Bond College has been one of the best decisions I ever made. During high school, I was there for every reason other than to learn. After travelling the world I decided to get a degree. This journey began at Bond College where I realised the pleasure that knowledge brings. I was also exposed to a broad range of disciplines offered by the University. This helped me to decide which degree to undertake. My lecturers encouraged me to pursue my interest in law. Due to achieving such a high overall grade, my name was put forward to recieve a Dean’s Scholarship. It came as a surprise to recieve this scholarship upon graduating from Bond College. next semester I will have completed all my law subjects. My studies are opening doors for me and have brought friendships into my life that I will have forever.

The Masters Qualifying Program (MQP) is a 14-week (one semester) course of study, designed for students who have completed an undergraduate degree or diploma overseas.
A Bond College graduation certificate is provided upon successful completion. Recognition of prior learning is not applicable for this program. This program is offered on campus only.
ENTRy REqUIREMENTSIndian Students Completion of a bachelor’s degree which does not meet the academic entry requirements for direct entry into postgraduate study, awarded in nooSR section two (third class), nooSR section three (second or third class) and section four (first class).
Chinese Students Completion of three or four year diploma or certificate of graduation, with 70 per cent or more from a degree granting MoE institution (without evidence of a bachelor’s degree being awarded). other diploma qualifications will be assessed on application.
Other Nationalitiesother nationalities will be assessed on a case by case basis. Individual cases will be referred to the office of Admissions to determine entry level for MQP or eligibility for direct entry to postgraduate studies.

Bond College was the perfect pathway for me to enter university. Bond College is a friendly working space and the small classes made for a good learning environment. PLEASE NOTEThe Australian Government regulations require that students who are under the age of 18 have approved accommodation and welfare arrangements in place. AIRPORT ARRIVAL TRANSFERSBond College can arrange transport from Brisbane or Gold Coast airport to your accommodation. Arrival transfers can be booked online as soon as you have your flight details at www.bond.edu.au/accommodation. Bookings must be made at least one week prior to your arrival. English language students must apply for airport transfer on their application form.
ORIENTATION WEEkAt the start of each semester, an orientation Week is held for Bond College Foundation Program or Masters Qualifying Program students where you have an opportunity to meet your teachers and classmates, and tour the campus. You will be given your study schedule and a Student Advisor will be available to discuss your studies and future degree requirements. English language students receive orientation upon arrival.

LIVING EXPENSESYou should budget approximately AUD$18,000 per year for general living expenses such as personal items, social outings, transportation and miscellaneous living costs.
TEXTBOOkSTextbooks for the Foundation Program will cost approximately AUD$700 and for the Masters Qualifying Program, approximately AUD$400. English Language Program students will be advised of the required texts at the start of their course. All books will be available from the Bond University bookshop or directly supplied by Bond College.
HOMESTAy PLACEMENT FEEA homestay placement fee of AUD$250 will apply. The cost per week for those aged 18 and above is AUD$250. For those aged 16 or 17, the cost per week is AUD$270.
AIRPORT PICk-UPThe airport pick-up fee from the Gold Coast or Brisbane airport is AUD$40.
STUDENT ACTIVITIES MEMBERSHIPThe Student Activities Membership fee of AUD$87.50 per semester will give you access to all of our on-campus sporting facilities and clubs. The membership is solely used to support student events and activities. This fee is compulsory for all students.

If you are an Australian citizen or a holder of a permanent humanitarian visa, you will be able to access the Australian Government’s student loan program called FEE-HELP. VISA REGULATIONS
International citizens will need to apply for an Australian visa before leaving their home. The Department of Immigration and Citizenship offers a number of visa classes for visitors to Australia. If you are coming (or want to come) to Australia to study for longer than three months you will be required to apply for an Australianstudent visa. Student visa holders are required to attend classes full-time and maintain over 80 per cent attendance in class. If eligible, tourist visa holders may study for three months and are not permitted to work in Australia. If eligible, working holiday visa holders may study for up to four months and work for the rest of the year.

COMPULSORy HEALTH INSURANCE
The Australian Government requires that all international student visa holders and their dependants must have overseas Student Health Cover (oSHC) before they apply for a student visa. oSHC goes towards covering the fees for doctors, private specialists, surgeons, shared hospital ward accommodation, emergency ambulance transport, prescription medicines and some other medical services. If you extend your visa, you must also extend your oSHC. Your student visa cannot be issued until this insurance has been arranged and the premium paid in advance to our preferred provider, oSHC Worldcare.
