KTDC Launches Country's 1st State-Run All-
Woman Hotel i. The hotel named 'Hostess' was launched by Kerala Tourism minister Kadakampally Surendran. A flagship project of the Kerala Tourism Development Corporation (KTDC). The hotel will come up within six months at the
KTDC complex. ii. Work on India's public sector hotel run entirely by women for women is claimed to be the first such in the country.
WCD Ministry Launches ‘Childline1098’ Contest i. The Ministry of Women and Child Development has launched a contest, #Childline1098, inviting people to share
images of the Childline 1098 logo that they spot at unique locations and send it with a tagline, to mark World Day against Trafficking in Persons on July 30. ii. CHILDLINE is India's first 24-hour, free, emergency phone service for children in need of aid and assistance. At
present, it is operational at 450 locations.
Government Sets Up High-Level Committee To Check Mob Lynching i. Considering the increasing incidents of mob lynching, the Union Government constituted a High-Level Committee chaired by the Union Home Secretary Rajiv Gauba to
deliberate in the matter and make recommendations. ii. The Secretary, Department of Justice; Secretary,
Department of Legal Affairs; Secretary, Legislative Department; and Secretary, Social Justice and Empowerment are the members of the committee.
Goods and Services Tax: July 1 i. The Government of India has announced that on July 1, it will be celebrated as 'GST Day ' . Union Minister of
Railways, Coal, Finance and Corporate Affairs, Shri Piyush Goyal will be the Chief Guest of this program and the Chairman of the Finance Minister, Shri Shiv Pratap Shukla will preside over this. ii. The Indian government is celebrating the first anniversary of the goods and services tax (GST) being implemented on July 1, 2017.
Jharkhand will set up the country's first khadi mall i. Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das announced that the country's first 'Khadi Mall' will be opened in
Jharkhand. To develop the country's first Khadi Mall, the land of the Heavy Engineering Corporation ( HEC ) premises
will be made available to the Khadi Board. ii. The craftsmen will be provided technical assistance for value addition in their products, while rural, urban and tourism 'hot' will provide them the market for their goods.
Karnataka Budget Announcement: Important Point i. Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy presented
his government's first budget. They announced a agriculture loan exemption of Rs 34,000 crore .
ii. Loans up to Rs 2 lakh for each farmer will be
waived. Within the time, the loan amount paid to farmers repaying the loan or Rs. 25000 will be deposited, whichever
is earlier.

All You Need To Know About Final Draft Of NRC Released By Assam i. Assam released the final draft of the National Register of Citizens (NRC), seven months after it released the first draft on 1 January 2018, which included 1.9 crore names out of a total applicant pool of 3.29 crore. The recently
released list, however, left our 40.07 lakh people wherein 2.89 crore people were found eligible out of 3.29 crore applicants. ii. What is the NRC?
The National Register of Citizens (NRC) is the list of Indian citizens of Assam. It was prepared in 1951, following the census of 1951.
Odisha Government Launches 'Green Mahanadi Mission' i. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister inaugurated NTPC's solar plant i. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhaninaugurated 250 MW Solar Power Plant of state-run power major National Thermal Power Corporation Limited (NTPC) in Mandsaur .
ii. According to NTPC, this project has been established
primarily on non-agricultural land and electricity is being
produced without affecting the natural environment system, with zero carbon emissions on investment of Rs 1,500 crore.

The heads of state and government of all five BRICS nations including Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa convened for the 10th BRICS Summit in Johannesburg, South Africa. The theme of BRICS Summit 2018 was ‘BRICS in Africa: Collaboration for inclusive growth and shared prosperity in the 4th Industrial Revolution'. ii. The summit saw the BRICS leaders come together and
discuss various international and regional issues of common concern and adopted the 'Johannesburg Declaration' by consensus. iii. The declaration comes as the United States and

Global Innovation Index: Switzerland at the top, India is 57th The Global Innovation Index (GII) has declared India the 57th most innovative country in the world. The country
has improved its ranking from the 60th position in 2017. India was at 81st in 2015 and India is growing steadily in this order. In the meantime, China improved its ranking from 22 to 21 this year in 2017.

BANKING AND FINANCE Banks, Financial Institutions Sign
Agreement To Speed Up Resolution of Bad
Loans i. Nearly two dozen Banks and Financial Institutions,
including SBI and LIC, have signed the inter-creditor
agreement (ICA) framework to speed up the resolution of
stressed assets which are under the 500-crore rupee
bracket.
ii. The framework is part of the Project SASHAKT, the
report on bad bank drafted and submitted by the committee
headed by Non-executive Chairman of PNB, Sunil Mehta.
ii. The objective of ICA is to resolve stressed assets fast, and
will primarily focus on NPAs in the 50 crore to 500 crore bracket.
RBI has licensed the Bank of China license to operate in India. Reserve Bank of India licenses the Bank of China to work
in India . This decision has come as part of Prime Minister Modi's commitment to Chinese leadership. Bank of China will now have operational offices in India. This will be the second Chinese bank to work in the country.
ICICI Bank's mortgage portfolio crosses 1.5 trillion i. ICICI Bank has announced that its mortgage loan portfolio has crossed the milestone of 1.5 trillion , which makes it the largest private player in the segment , and
to increase it to Rs 2 trillion by 20 years as a lender The goal has been kept. ii. At 1.5 trillion rupees, half of the mortgage loan book's total
retail loan portfolio is approximately 3 trillion.

Reserve Bank of India canceled license of Alwar Urban Cooperative Bank Reserve Bank of India has announced that the license of Alwar Urban Co-operative Bank in Alwar of Rajasthan has been canceled because it is not in a position
to fully pay its depositors after completing their claims due to other reasons. ii. The reasons for the cancellation of the license were, the
bank is not likely to have sufficient capital and earnings, and the relevant provisions of the Banking Regulation Act, 1949 have not been followed.

Bharti Infratel, Indus Tower Merger Deal

Infratel announced that it has received clearance from SEBI
for its merger with Indus Towers.
ii. It will now approach the National Company Law Tribunal
for its approval. The combined company will own 100% of Indus Towers jointly owned by Bharti Infratel (42% holding), Vodafone (42%), Idea Group (11.15%) and Providence (4.85%).

HCL Technologies displaces Wipro as India‟s third largest IT services firm i. HCL Technologies Ltd surpassed Wipro Ltd to become India‟s third-biggest software services firm in the
three months, marking the first change in the pecking order of the country’s $167 billion information technology (IT) outsourcing industry in six years. ii. Noida-based HCL Technologies announced that its dollar

RBI gives Airtel payment bank approval for new customers i. Airtel Payments Bank has received the necessary
approval to start taking new customers from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). In addition, the issuing
authority, UIDAI, has allowed it to use the 12-digit unique identification number-based e-KYC. ii. This approval came about seven months after Airtel paid a
deal with Airtel Payments Bank, allegedly for opening its bank accounts, and then the Reserve Bank of India directed Airtel Payments Bank not to include new customers. While the issuing body UIDAI suspended the e-KYC license of both
Airtel and Payal Bank.

Government Reduced Minimum Annual Deposit Under Sukanya Samriddhi Scheme i. The Union Government has reduced the minimum annual deposit requirement for accounts under Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana from Rs 1000 to Rs 250. The minimum initial
deposit to open the account has also been reduced to Rs 250. ii. The move is aimed at enabling more people to take
advantage of the girl child savings scheme. The government has amended the Sukanya Samriddhi Account Rules, 2016 for the purpose.

Olympic Medalists To Now Receive Rs 20,000 Pension Per Month i. Sports Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore announced that the rate of pension for sportspersons who have won medals in international competitions and have retired from active sports has been
doubled from April 1. At present, the government gives lifelong pension to 588 players under the scheme of ‘Pension to Meritorious Sportspersons.' ii. According to the revised rates, Olympic and Para Olympic medallists will get a sum of Rs 20,000 per month each, while gold medallists at World Cups and World
Championships in Olympic and Asian Games disciplines will receive Rs 16,000 per month.
