Brief History of Tinajero
Tinajero Bacolor is once an abandoned areasince the catastrophic damage of Pinatubolahar in 1991 and massive flooding in 1995.Then was a rich and progressive village, abundance of food flows and have livelihoodopportunities. It was said that the people ofTinajero are very good in producing the localvinegar. This was exported at that time. Morethan that, many came from Tinajero and workas domestic helpers in Singapore and Taiwan. This time was the beginning when Philippinesstarted exporting human resources. SincePinatubo and the massive lahar flooding thecommunity fell down, abandoned anddeserted.
Presently, there are about 1,000 peopleliving in the area which includes the children.People’s occupation depends solely on themen’s carpentry work and on farmingvegetables. According to survey probing itwould take about 100 peso a day for a normalfamily to spend on food. Due to meagresalary and job opportunity, many youth werenot able to go to high school; malnutrition isevident to the children. This lack ofopportunity to education resulted to teenagepregnancy, juvenile delinquency, malnutritionon the children, poor hygiene practices, alcoholism among others.

In 2014 Barangay Tinajero has a population of about 800 with ahousehold number of 200. However, an influx of populationreached to 995 with a household 762 due to the construction ofSan Guillermo housing and the return of evacuees of Pinatubo.
At present, the thriving houses and structures are built along theroad are apparent as the community is re-building. Moreconcrete houses are built as evidence that the community life andliving has develop. Moreover, barangay road was concreted last2016. However, the drainage system was not properly built andcompleted. In the recent months some parts of the road aredamaged due to the heavy equipment passing from theconstruction of dike along the boundary of Tinajero and Talba.
Furthermore, to mitigate flooding in the community just as whathappened in 2009 (Ondoy) and 2016 (Niňa), a dike wasstrengthened by the local government along Talba boundary anda river was built as a waterway from Sta. Ynes.
Every Barangay should be equipped with facilities in order tocater the general public. However this is lacking in Tinajero. TheBarangay Multi-purpose which is used as a Barangay Hall and atthe same time a Health Center is dilapidated which is evident bythe fragmented parts of the structure. There seem to be noregular assigned person to manage the ofce as well as Barangaypolice to guard it. Usually whenever there are conflicts in thecommunity people would still go to Municipal Hall, no one isaround to facilitate the problem among parties.
On waste management, there is a prevalent culture of burning ofgarbage whenever and wherever people preferred to. On theworse, garbage is evidently thrown at the roadside which causesstench along the way.
The community is on the way of re-establishment and developing, establishments for basic needs such as grocery, food processing, services and alike are not yet visible.

B. San Guillermo ResettlementWe looked around San Guillermo Resettlement. There are around 200
families. Other houses are not yet occupied. According to a randominterview, livelihood is difcult and the location is far. The area is small andhot. Furthermore, the covered court is still under construction. Because lacks
of
dumping area, the surroundings are dirty and smell stench.
