The foundation of the Atlas Group was laid

in 1962 with the establishment of Shirazi

Investments (Pvt.) Limited with a capital of

half a million rupees and three men doing

business in trading shares and real estate.

Today, Atlas is a diversified group dealing

in engineering, power generation, financial

services and trading. It consists of seven

public limited companies, of which four are

quoted on the Stock Exchanges in Pakistan,

and seven private limited companies. Atlas

shareholders’ equity now stands at 30 billion

rupees; assets have increased to 80 billion

rupees; personnel strength to 7500 and

annual sales have crossed 100 billion rupees.

The Group�s strategic direction is determined

by the Group Executive Committee while

the Group Advisory Board provides intrinsic

benefits of advising and guiding the Group

on policy issues. Each company functions

autonomously within the framework of

predetermined policies.

The Atlas Group has not only introduced

modern technologies in Pakistan but has

also promoted corporate governance, thus

providing a sense of participation at every

level - from grass roots to the top. Permanent

cells have been established for development

of Human Resource and Systems &

Technology. The Remuneration Committee

and Audit Committees of various group

companies are headed by the independent

directors.

Shirazi Investments

Shirazi Investments (Pvt) Limited (SIL), the

parent company of the Atlas Group, started

operations in 1962. It is engaged in capital

markets, real estate, warehousing and

venture capital. The Company plays a key

role in sponsoring the acquisition of Group

projects.

Atlas Autos (now Atlas Honda) was the first

company sponsored by SIL in 1963.

Subsequently, Atlas Battery was sponsored

in 1966 and Shirazi Trading Company in

1975. SIL acquired Muslim Insurance (now

Atlas Insurance) in 1980 and Allwin

Engineering (now Atlas Engineering) in 1981.

In 1992, the Company sponsored Honda

Atlas Cars in coordination with Honda Motor

Company to manufacture Honda cars. The

association was further strengthened by the

establishment of Honda Atlas Power Product

in 1997.

In 2002, the Company sponsored Atlas Asset

Management to float mutual and pension

funds. In 2007, SIL sponsored Atlas Power

to set up a 225 MW power plant near Lahore

and also established Atlas World Wide

General Trading and Atlas Venture in

Dubai, UAE. Meanwhile, Atlas Auto Parts

was incorporated in 2011.

Atlas Warehousing - an Atlas Group

Company incorporated in 1979, was merged

with SIL in 2001. The Company now owns

and manages godowns in Karachi and

Sheikhupura, and offers warehouse facilities

to the Group companies as well as other

clients.

Besides its important roles as the Parent

Company, Shirazi Investments, as the

Principal Shareholder advises, guides and

directs the Group policies.

Shirazi CapitalShirazi Capital (Pvt) Limited, another holding

company of the Atlas Group was established

in 2005 to provide sponsor support in helping

the growth of Atlas group companies. The

Company owns substantial shareholding in

Atlas group companies.

Atlas HondaAtlas Honda Limited (AHL) - a joint venture

between the Atlas Group and Honda Motor

Company, Japan manufactures and markets

Honda motorcycles. The Company was

created by the merger of Panjdarya Limited

and Atlas Autos Limited in 1991. Both these

motorcycle manufacturing concerns were

established by the Atlas Group. In addition,

a third concern, Atlas Epak Limited was

taken over by the Government of Bangladesh

in 1971.

Honda motorcycles are the best selling

motorcycles in the country with a reputation

for high quality, reliability and efficient after-

sales-service. AHL is developing local

manufacturing capabilities to the highest,

economically feasible level. While a major

role in localization has been assigned to

certifications for maintaining high quality and

environmental management systems and

standards.

The Company was awarded the 4th CSR

National Excellence Award in 2010. This

award recognized the contribution the

organization is making towards the

betterment of society.

for well developed Human Resource

Management Systems through HRM

Excellence Awards. The Company was

placed second amongst multinational

companies in the country by Employers’

Federation of Pakistan.

largest in-house manufacturing capability in

the country for various hi-tech components

at its Karachi and Sheikhupura plants. To

support the production facilities, the

Company has established an R & D wing

and tool making facilities which are growing

rapidly in size and function as the Company

expands.

Various participation programs such as ’Ala

Mayar’ (Quality Circles) movement, launched

in 1985, are encouraged to allow constructive

self-expression and teamwork. The

Company’s training and development

programs encourage members to develop

themselves and contribute to their full

potential.

Atlas Honda is playing a pioneering role in

creating conditions for easy and confident

use of motorcycles all over the country. A

vast and growing network of over 7500

motorcycle sales service and spare parts

dealers has been established. The Company

has set up Technical Training Centers in

Karachi and Lahore which provide courses

of varying duration and complexity for

motorcycle mechanics and users each year.

The Company has the privilege of receiving

the KSE Top 25 Companies Award and the

Best Corporate Report Award on several

occasions. It has also received the South

Asian Federation Accountants (SAFA) Award

for the last two years. These awards are

recognition of the quality and integrity of

financial reporting. Further, the Company

has received ISO 14001-2004 and ISO 9001

Atlas Battery Limited (ABL) was incorporated

in 1966 through a Technical Collaboration

with Japan Storage Battery Company Limited

(JSB), Japan and later entered a Joint

Venture Agreement in 1987. JSB and Yuasa

Corporation, Japan merged in 2004. The

merged entity GS Yuasa Corporation, is a

leading global battery manufacturer.

ABL manufactures a complete range of lead

acid batteries for cars, motorcycles, trucks,

tractors, heavy vehicles, construction and

road-building equipments, as well as host

of stationary batteries. In recent years, the

shortage of electricity has spurred the

demand of UPS systems. ABL has

developed batteries for UPS systems, which

are customers’ first choice due to their

quality, reliability and durability.

The Company has always been at the

vanguard of development. The AGS brand

has earned a reputation as a quality product

with latest Japanese technology, high level

of performance and reliability.

ABL has a long association with eminent

Tractors Limited and DYL Motorcycles

AGS batteries are approved by PSI (Pakistan

Standard Institute) and have the Certification

of ISO 9001 for Quality Standards. This

certification authorizes export of AGS

batteries to any part of the world.

The quality of the product has enabled the

Company to win numerous awards both

nationally and internationally such as the

World Quality Commitment International Star

Award and the Brand of the Year Award in

Pakistan. The Company has also won the

KSE Top 25 Companies Award and the Best

Presented Accounts Award a number of

times.

Atlas Battery’s technological competitiveness

is matched by its extensive national network

of over 1000 dealers and retail outlets. The

Company recently introduced the concept

of model shops for the first time in the battery

industry. This has not only facilitated the

dealers and retailers in the sales process

but also enhanced the brand equity of AGS.

Atlas Battery is the trend-setter in the battery

industry. It was the first to introduce UPS,

CNG, Diesel and Rickshaw batteries. It was

also the pioneer in introducing motorcycle

batteries in the organized sector.

Atlas Engineering Limited (formerly Allwin

Engineering) was established in 1951 as a

partnership firm. It became a private limited

company in 1964 and a public limited

company in 1967. The Atlas Group acquired

the company in 1981.

Atlas Engineering (AEL) is one of the largest

and oldest manufacturers of automotive

parts and components in the private sector

in Pakistan.

The Company has state-of-the-art facilities

to process pig iron and aluminium alloys

into high precision automotive components.

AEL has full access to technical know-how

and back-up of Honda Motor and Honda

Foundry.

The Company manufactures pistons,

cylinders, radiators, aluminium components

and a host of fully-machined cast iron parts.

AEL’s customers include Honda and Yamaha

motorcycles and Millat tractors and a sizable

replacement market. The Company’s

products are comparable with those of any

international manufacturers.

The facilities have been modernized steadily

and are amongst the best in the engineering

sector of the country. As old machines are

phased out, new machines including CNCs

and semiautomatic transfer machining lines

are being added. Further, expansion of

facilities for manufacturing pistons and allied

products are being undertaken. The

production facilities are backed by well-

equipped quality assurance system, design

and applied research facilities.

In order to boost automotive parts

manufacturing in the country, the Group has

launched Atlas Auto Parts (Private) Limited.

The primary task of this Company is to

indigenize motorcycle�s electrical and engine

components for the OEMs as well as the

replacement market in collaboration with

leading Japanese companies like Denso,

Showa, FCC and Shindengen.

Honda Atlas Cars (Pakistan) Limited (HACPL)

is a joint venture between the Atlas Group

and Honda Motor Company Limited, Japan.

Factory construction started on April 17,

1993 and within a record time of 11 months,

construction and installation of machinery

was completed. The first car rolled off the

assembly line on May 26, 1994.

HACPL has opened doors to advanced

Japanese cars manufacturing technology

and expertise in Pakistan. The Company has

changed the landscape of automobile culture

in the passenger car segment. HACPL has

the distinction of introducing several

technologies for the first time in Pakistan,

such as: PGMF-I (Programmed fuel injection);

VTEC (Variable Valve Timing and Lift

Electronic Control); Automatic Transmission;

Crystal Lights; Oriel (Sun Roof with both tilt

and slide functions); Four Wheel Disk Brakes,

ABS Brakes (Anti-lock Braking System),

G-Con (G-Force Control Technology),

PROSMATEC Transmission (Progressive

Shift Management Technology) and i-DSI

engine (Intelligence Dual Sequential Ignition)

which has smooth acceleration and world

class level of fuel efficiency.

Honda Atlas Cars (Pakistan) Limited through

its large network of 3S and 2S (PIT SHOP)

dealerships in major towns across the country

is committed to meet customers expectations

and give best value for money. The Company

achieved ISO 9002 certification in 1999 and

ISO 14001 certification in 2003 and hence

became the first car manufacturer in Pakistan

to do so.

Atlas Power Limited (APL) was incorporated

in 2007 to build a fast-track 225 MW

combined cycle power plant under the Power

Policy 2002. The Plant is situated on the

main Lahore-Sheikhupura Road supplying

electricity to National Transmission and

Despatch Company (NTDC) through the

Lahore and Ravi grid stations. The

commercial operation of this fast-track

project was commenced from December

18, 2009.

Reciprocating engine driven power plants

are suitable with proven performance in

Pakistan. Such plants have a relatively short

time frame for installation and commissioning.

Furthermore, the plants have high fuel

efficiency, optimum matching with varying

load demand and moderate project cost.

APL consists of 11 MAN manufactured four

stroke Diesel Engines (type 18V48/60), and

one steam turbine supplied by Dresser-

Rand. In 18-cylinder configuration, the engine

has a generation capacity of 18.9 MW (ISO

Mechanical). These engines are capable of

operating on residual fuel oil and convertible

into dual fuel operation with gas as well as

bio-fuels as primary fuels. The total

combined generation capacity of these

gensets and turbine is approximately 225

MW (gross at ISO) and 213.856 MW (net).

The Company has a Power Purchase

Agreement signed with NTDC for twenty-

five years.

MAN North America (a wholly owned

subsidiary of MAN Diesel Germany) is the

Operation and Maintenance Contractor

under an O&M Agreement. Pakistan State

Oil, the leading RFO Supplier, is the fuel

supplier for the Complex.

The Company is sponsored by the Atlas

Group, MAN of Germany, National Bank of

Pakistan and Allied Bank Limited.

The Company (formerly Muslim Insurance)

was founded in 1934 by Dr. Sir Muhammad

Iqbal and is one of the oldest insurance

companies in Pakistan. The Company was

taken over by the Atlas Group in 1980 and

re-named as Atlas Insurance Limited (AIL)

in April 2006. The equity has increased from

Rs. 1.6 million in 1979 to Rs. 1 billion, total

assets have grown to Rs. 2 billion and

investments from Rs. 4.6 million in 1979 to

Rs. 1 billion.

AIL provides wide range of insurance

products and has consistently sought to

offer unique solutions by evolving creative

alternatives in general insurance. The

Company’s management is being guided

by a policy of sound underwriting and the

highest quality services to each valued client.

AIL has the privilege of insuring the business

of several blue-chip companies through its

extensive nation-wide branch network

backed by an advanced computerized

It has a paid up capital of 250 million rupees

and is currently managing five open end

mutual funds and one closed end mutual

fund. AAM is one of only six asset

management companies licensed to manage

Pension Schemes, a primary savings vehicle

for retirement savings for individuals, under

the Voluntary Pension System Rules, 2005.

AAM is currently offering two Pension Funds,

Atlas Pension Fund and Atlas Pension Islamic

Fund.

These diverse range of products have been

designed to provide investors with the

convenience and flexibility to meet their

Shirazi Trading Company (Pvt) Limited was

established in 1975 to undertake imports,

exports, representations and franchises

business. The Company is the trading arm

of the Atlas Group.

The organization and its operations have

been growing since inception and with the

passage of time the Company has emerged

as one of the leading trading companies in

the country. Shirazi Trading has several

franchises of world renowned brands

including MAN Diesel, Canon (color and

black & white Copiers, Fax, Scanners), Pitney

Bowes (mailing systems and document

inserters), Contex (Large Format Scanners),

Image Access (Book Scanners), Easy

Software (Document Management Systems),

ABBYY (Data Capturing Software). Tideland

Signal (Navigational Aids), Garrett and

The Company is the sole representative of

MAN Diesel and played an initial role in the

execution of several IPPs as a developer

and a construction contractor. The Company

is now positioned to play its role in more

power projects in the future.

Shirazi Trading is catering the needs of

Metal, Material and Chemicals not only for

Group companies but also for the market.

The Company also deals in a wide range of

Medical Diagnostic Equipment such as

Digital Radiography, CT Scan, MRI, C-arms,

RF-ablation, Digital Fluoroscopy, Ventilators

and Healthcare IT for world renowned brands

like Hitachi, Canon, Covidien, Sedecal, Vepro

and Rogan Delft.

Shirazi Trading has also acquired ISO

9001:2008 certification for Management

Systems (UKAS accreditation).

The Company has a country wide sale and

service network; its branches are located at

Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Multan,

Faisalabad and Peshawar. The Company’s

6000 customers are being served by

professionally trained staff.

With a global vision in mind, the company

has established a liaison office in China.

Honda Atlas Power Product

The Atlas Group and Honda Motor Company,

Japan entered into a joint venture and

incorporated Honda Atlas Power Product

(Private) Limited in 1997 to market various

types of generators, engines and water

pumps. All products are duly backed by

after-sales-service.

Utilizing cutting edge 4-stroke engine

technology, Honda engines are environment

friendly and have the added advantages of

durability and cleanliness. Currently, Honda

power products are manufactured at 13

facilities in 11 countries and are sold in 56

countries around the world.

In order to provide pollution free and

economical products, the Company recently

introduced highly acclaimed gas generators.

Atlas World Wide General Trading LLC was

established in 2007 in Dubai to undertake

imports, exports, representations and

franchises. The Group established Atlas

World Wide to bring its trading expertise to

UAE with a range of own products such as

motorcycles, automotive batteries, parts and

accessories. Atlas World Wide also procures

raw materials, recycled materials, machines,

equipment and parts for its customers. The

Company aims to source quality products

from all over the world and market at an

affordable price to its customers.

Atlas Foundation Atlas Foundation was established in 1986 in

an endeavor to fulfill its corporate social

responsibilities. The Foundation has played

its role in promoting centers of professional

education, contributing to health facilities,

helping law enforcement agencies and

improving the quality of life with the

commitment that what has come from the

society should be shared with the society.

The Foundation has sponsored many

projects - LUMS, AKU, GIK, FC College,

AL-Shifa Hospital to name a few.

The Foundation sponsored a school up to

the secondary level in Sheikhupura close

to Atlas Power Plant and Atlas Honda’s

manufacturing unit. The school built in

collaboration with The Citizen Foundation

has a capacity for 400 students at present.

of farmers and labourers living in the

neighbouring areas.
