On all W models you’ll find a low-normal

derailleur by Shimano. That’s because a low-

normal has more logical and natural shift steps

than other derailleurs. Thus, you don’t have to

apply force to upshift and can respond much

quicker to obstacles, after a corner for instance.

During a climb it becomes easier to shift down

a gear as well.

The headset on the W models was developed especially for mountain

bikes and XR bikes. A lifted bottom side makes the headset stiffer than

that of other bikes. And you know: the greater the stiffness, the better

you can control your bike.

With the proper front fork on the proper

bike you are ensured of an optimum balance

between control and comfort. That’s why

all of Gazelle’s W models are equipped with

state-of-the-art front forks. These front forks

can be adjusted in such a way that you can

descend even faster while still maintaining

maximum control. By the way, the

combination of oil and air in the front fork on

the W6 also makes for a lower bike weight.

The XR1 and XR2 models are made in such a way that you can turn them into a great holiday bike in no time. Mount a lock, a carrier and a front mudguard and you can start exploring the world. Every SPN model features a so-called flat handlebar. These are straight bars (i.e. without drop) that are also applied to the XR models. An ideal solution if you use the bike for long rides and don’t want to have as much of a tough time as you would on a racing bike. Because you’re not leaning forward as much you have less chance of back aches and can brake more easily under all circumstances.
