WELCOME TO THE NEIGHBORHOOD!

Is there a neighborhood on University Boulevard and 22nd Street in Bir-mingham’s Southside? Some would answer, “No!” We, however, know differently and answer “Yes!” There is a neighborhood of profes-sionals who walk and ride to work right by our corner every day. There is a neighborhood of residents who enjoy urban living, and there are residents who live in our neighbor-hood by necessity. There is a neighborhood of students who attend The University of Ala-bama at Birmingham. There is a neighborhood of medical facilities, its employees and patients. There is a global neighborhood to which we are instructed to go from this corner in order to teach and bap-tize. And there is a neighborhood of be-lievers who choose Baptist Church of the Covenant to be their community of faith. Inspired by the goals of its Master Plan, this membership is com-mitting itself, through pledges and prayers, to the corner of University Boulevard and 22nd Street. Join us in the 2010 Capital Campaign as we say “Yes!” to the neighborhood.

Questions and Answers Q. How much is the goal for this phase of the

Master Plan? A. $1,299,525 in three years (2011—2013). Q. How will the funds be used? A. See Projects Table. Q. How will this affect the ministries and

programs of the church? A. It will bear witness to BCOC’s commitment to

Southside and upgrade many of our existing facilities and equipment for religious education, ministries and worship.

Q. How may I participate? A. Prayer support; pledge and give funds; solicit

community involvement. Q. Who will know how much I pledge? A. Only Susan Palmer, the church's Financial

Secretary, who is bound by confidentiality. Not even the pastor will know the amounts pledged.

Q. What if I cannot fulfill my pledge? A. Contact the Financial Secretary, Susan Palmer,

to adjust your pledge. Q. When do I pledge? A. Pledge cards will be available at the church

throughout the campaign, and will be made available at home fellowship meetings. A pledge card will be mailed to your home the week of October 25, 2010. Completed pledge cards will be brought forward by members at the 40th Anniversary service on November 7, 2010.

Q. How may I pay my pledge? A. However you choose: lump sum, annually,

quarterly, installments, stocks and bonds, real property.

Q. How is this different from my annual church budget pledge?

A. This is over and above your tithe to the church's annual operating budget.

Q. There have been several capital campaigns. How do I know where one ends and one begins?

A. Thank you for your faithful giving! With a pledge to the 2010 Capital Campaign, all previous campaign pledges are “forgiven.” A person should only have two pledges: one to the annual operating budget and one to the capital campaign.
