The Touch

2 Corinthians 5:17 (NLT)

17 This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is

gone; a new life has begun!

Twas battered and scarred, and the auctioneer thought it scarcely worth his while to waste

much time on the old violin, but he held it up with a smile. "What am I bid, good folk?" he cried,

"Who'll start the bidding for me? A dollar - a dollar - then two, only two. Two dollars, and who

will make it three? Going for three" -- but no. From the room far back, a gray-haired man came

forward and picked up the bow. Then, wiping the dust from the violin and tightening the

loosened strings, he played a melody pure and sweet as a caroling angel sings. The music ceased,

and the auctioneer, with a voice that was quiet and low, said, "Now what am I bid for the old

violin?" And he held it up with the bow. "A thousand dollars and who'll make it two? Two

thousand dollars and who'll make it three? Three thousand once, three thousand twice, and

going and gone," cried he. The people cheered and some of them cried, "We do not understand

what changed its worth?" Quick came the reply: "The touch of the master's hand." And many a

man with life out of tune, and battered and scarred with sin, is auctioned cheap to a thoughtless

crowd, much like the old violin.

God has touched us and made us new. When the world tries to tell us we are not worth anything

we have to remember that we have been touched by the Master. We are a new creation through

Jesus!

In His Service,

Pastor Alan

BAKE SALE WE NEED YOUR HELP If you are attending the disaster auction, please consider bringing along baked items for the large bake table that is located inside the arena (next to the dining hall). Pies, cakes, brownies, breads, candies – let your imagination soar! Please include your name and ingredients on any donations. You can’t make the auction – then perhaps someone else in your congregation that is attending would be willing to bring your donations. All proceeds from the bake sale will benefit disaster response. Your baked items can assist in rebuilding not only homes - but lives that have been shattered from various disasters. Volunteers from the Bush Creek Church of the Brethren will be volunteering at the bake table to greet you. Please bring donations in as early as possible the day of the auction. Thank you.
