LEAVING BARCELONA

Let´s fly, let´s explore, let´s discover what´s hid-den beyond. We all know that it is incredibly easy and affordable to travel aroundEurope those days, thanks to cheap airlines like Easyjet, Vueling, Ryanair,Germanwings and many others. Most European cities are fantastically connected to countlesscountries, making it possible to travel in short time of space to a complete differentplace from anywhere.

This month we´d like to recommend you a verynew destination: MORROCOS. It has always been a little thorny to get cheaply to the north-ern part of the African continent – well, soon it will be more than easy, as Ryanair isplanning to offer it as their new flight destination from Barcelona!!!

MARRAKECH: Some 1000 years ago the settle-ment of “Marrukush” was founded at the crossroads of ancient caravan routes.“Marrakush” is the Arabic word for “city” – in Portuguese it was called “Marocos”, whichmeans that Morocco actually owes its name to Marrakech. Welcome to one of the worldsenchanted places where time becomes sus-pended,welcome to Arabic and Berber legends,dervish-like dances, honeycombed, storytelling alleys and sorcery. Welcome to unique flavorsand mouth-watering food stalls, vegetable couscous and lamb tajine, coriander and saf-fron. Welcome to the rhythm and sound of Morocco. More than anything else it is the con-trasts which make this city so fascinating. Marrakech´s pulsating main square and one ofthe world greatest theaters, the Djemaa el Fna, transforms into a huge open-air restaurantat nightfall and an entertainment paradise. Shopping and bargaining is fun in thewinded streets and many markets this city holds. The Souqs, basically undercover marketsthat sell everything from chicken to crafts, are considered to be among the best in

Morocco. It is worth taking a stroll in Majorelle Gardens, which are filled with plantsof all shapes and sizes and it also holds the Museum of Islamic Art. A masterpiece ofIslamic architecture are the Saadian Tombs, dating back to the 16th century, but its struc-ture only discovered in 1917, it is a treasure. The Walls of Medina invite to a morn-ing wander, 12 miles long , they are an excellent photo opportunity. Furthermore it isworth taking a look at the Palais Dar Si Said, an opulent palace and the museum ofMoroccan art, and El Bahia Palace, also a palace being a wonderful example of the bestMoroccan architecture. Least but not last get a glimpse of the Koutoubia Mosque.

The Marrakshis are known to be very welcom-ing hosts. Morocco is a magical experience for everyone, still quite unexploited and with acharming atmosphere, constantly changing and eternally the same… it invites you to comeagain and again. So don´t hesitate and enjoy this superb opportunity…

How to get there: Ryanair (www.ryanair.com)offers cheap and frequent flights from London, soon also from Barcelona. Also it ispossible to go from Madrid and London with Easyjet (www.easyjet.com), and checkingwww.edreams.com you will find variousEuropean cities from where you could catch aflight to Marrakech. A little more costly are the offers Iberia (www.iberia.com) or Royal AirMaroc (www.royalairmaroc.com) have, but they are worth checking out.

What are you waiting for?

Once again comes theclassic of “La Liga”.Barcelona and RealMadrid will meet nexttime on the 10th ofMarch, for round 27. As in the first roundMadrid won 2-0 in theSantiago Bernabeu, inthis match the Barçateam will look forrevenge. As usual with this kind ofmatch the whole city willbe watching with batedbreath what is going tohappen during the 90min at Camp Nou. Thestreets will be almostempty, there will be nonoises, neither traffic.

Nevertheless bars willbe full of people andthere will be also a veryspecial feeling. You´ll seethat local people get sooverwhelmed that theypass their excitement totourists and travellers sothey´ll make you fan forone day.So, if you are ready to bepart of this specialatmosphere, when thewhole city is “un clam”,you have 2 options: getan entry for the match ofthe year or join the tick-etless crowd to watchthe game in any barshowing it like GEORGE& DRAGON.
