Happy New Year Ohio JCI Senators & Friends,
I sincerely hope you all had a wonderful & joyous holi-
day season. I know, for us, it was great to spend time with our
family and loved ones. Apparently we were all on the nice list,
because Santa was good to us this year. Prior to the holidays,
we did do a little more traveling. Several Senators helped judge the Jaycee
Haunted Houses in Ohio, during the month of October. It was nice visiting
the Hudson, Portsmouth, and Riverside Jaycees at their haunted events.
They all showed us a warm welcome and we had a lot of fun. Also in Octo-
ber, we met up with fellow Senators from across Region V, as we hosted the
OH-MI-IN Border Bash in Oregon, Ohio. Everybody had a blast, and I’m
proud to say that Ohio won almost all of the competitions. In fact, the only
competition we didn’t win was the one in which you had to suck the most.
Thanks again to our “Hospitality Queen” Jenny Bruner #64688 for another
outstanding job as chairperson. We had our fall meeting on November 10th,
at the Ohio Jaycees Annual Convention. We had a great turnout for the
meeting, and we had a good time hanging out with the Jaycees. Especially
during their “Experience Auction” on Saturday night. Kudos to Stu O’Hara
#39768 for doing an awesome job as the auctioneer. Also, congratulations to
Annie Yoder on being elected as the 90th President of the Ohio Jaycees.
Coming up, we have the Michigan JCI Senate Post Holiday Party on
January 12th, and of course the Pre-Post Holiday
Party in Toledo, the night before. Then we will
be heading New Orleans for the USJCI Senate
Winter Board Meeting. I do believe we will be
“Living It Up” in NOLA. Our next Ohio Senate
meeting will be on February 9th, at the Cambria
Hotel Columbus-Polaris. This will be during the
Ohio Jaycees Year-End, so let’s all join them in
celebrating their 2018 successes and achievements. And I would be remiss if

I didn’t remind you that the Region V Spring Fling is being held in Ohio at the Holiday Inn Day-
ton-Fairborn on March 15th-17th.
And finally, the Ohio JCI Senate Directory is done. You should be receiving
it in the next couple of days, if you haven’t already. It has been a long ardu-
ous process, and I want to thank everyone who provided your information.
It is being distributed by email only, with a few exceptions. If you do not
receive it, or if you need a hard-copy mailed to you, please contact me. Al-
so feel free to let me know about any corrections that will need to be made.
Yours in Service,
Joe Callison #71418

Welcome to 2019. Hope all of you had a wonderful holiday season celebrating with family and friends. The months of January and February are bringing many JCI Sen-ate events. Things start out with many Senators from our Region attending the Pre Post Holiday Party in Toledo on Friday, January 11, hosted by Jenny and Jon Bruner. They will then travel the next day to Michigan to attend the Post-Holiday Party host-ed by the Michigan JCI Senate. The US JCI Senate meets January 24 - 26 in Kenner, Louisiana (by the New Orleans Airport) for the Winter Board Meeting. Many Sena-
tors, including the Rice's and Bruner's, will be extending their time in New Orleans to enjoy all the history and entertainment New Orleans has to offer. The next Saturday, February 2 we will be meet-ing in Delphos for our annual scholarship judging. If you have never joined us for judging before, please consider joining us. It is a great experience and awesome to see what our high school seniors in Ohio have accomplished through their high school years. The February All State will be held Febru-ary 8 - 9 at the Columbus Cambria Suites near Polaris. Please join us as we celebrate our own Ohio Jaycees with their yearend awards and the swearing in of President Annie Yoder and all the 2019 State Team. Hope to see you soon! Hello Ohio JCI Senate and friends!
I hope that everyone had a fantastic holiday season full of family and friends!
Now that the Winter Solstice is behind us, I can feel the days getting longer
and the sun a little higher in the sky (at least I can convince myself of that!).
With the New Year comes the tradition of resolutions for some of us. Whether
or not you make these resolutions, I wish that each of you have Peace, Health,
Love and Happiness in this New Year! Starting off this year, Michigan is hosting the Post-Holiday
Party on January 12, 2019. And, of course, don’t forget about the Pre-Post-Holiday Party the even-
ing before at the Days Inn Swanton/Toledo Airport. Get your RSVPs in now!! Shortly thereafter,
from February 8-10, 2019, we will have our Senate meetings and celebrate the accomplishments of
the Ohio Jaycees at their Year-End Awards, being held at the Cambria Hotel at Polaris. It’ll be a
great way to help President Melissa celebrate the successes of 2018 and see the new leadership
take the reins for the 2019 year. Speaking of the Jaycees, please make sure to keep track of any time
you spend for the Return the Favor program. Whether it’s helping with an event, training, or giv-
ing advice, please document these hours so we can make sure that the Senate members, as well as
our state, get the credit that is deserved. I know that you all do so much with the Jaycees, so let’s
make sure that gets recognized!
I hope to see you all soon!

The Power of "I"
I WILL DO MORE I am only one, but I am one. I cannot do everything, but I can do something. And what I can do, I ought to do. And what I ought to do, by the grace of God, I will do. I will do more than belong...I will participate. I will do more than care...I will help. I will do more than believe...I will practice. I will do more than be fair...I will be kind. I will do more than dream...I will work. I will do more than teach...I will inspire. I will do more than earn...I will enrich. I will do more than give...I will serve. I will do more than live...I will grow. I will do more than talk...I will act. I will be more than good...I will be good for something.

Coffee and doughnuts and lunch provided
If you are planning on attending please let me know so if the weather does not cooperate I can let you know if judging has to be canceled.

HAPPY NEW YEAR,
Hope everyone had a great Christmas or any other holiday that you may cele-
brate this time of the year. On the 1st of December we renewed 126 members
after dropping 7 members 4 of which have passed away. It seems like this is
becoming a normal and reoccurring situation with us as well as other states
all across the country. The next dues billing to the US Senate will be due on March 1st when we
will be renewing approximately 75 members of which 23 are not life members and will be getting
a Dues billing notice in early February. So PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE
send in your dues as soon as you get the bill. That will make my job so
much easier and save us the cost of sending a second billing notice or
dropping someone that doesn’t want to be dropped. If you get a dues bill-
ing and chose not to renew Please let me know so we don’t waste time and
money trying to make contact with you again and again.
WE are looking forward to a great time beginning this New Year with the Michigan Post Holliday
Party and Jenny’s PRE-POST HOLLIDAY party the night before. Then after that we will be off to
New Orleans for the Winter BOD meeting where I understand they are expecting a possible rec-
ord number of attendees. Then February brings our next meeting and the “Mini National” in Pi-
geon Forge TN. Hopping to attend all these and see lots of you there as well as all our friends
from across the country. Reminder, the by-laws of the Ohio JCI Senate states that an officer can
only hold an office for 2 terms in a row. The treasurer is a 2 year term and
this will be my 4th year so next year we will need to elect a new treasurer for
the 2019-2020 year. So if you know of someone that you think would be a
good treasure for the Ohio JCI Senate, please talk to them and any of the
current officers so we can see if we can make it happen. We don’t want to
wait till the last minute to try to get someone to volunteer.
Once again, thanks for your support.
If you need to get a hold of me for any reason please feel free to do so in any way that works best
for you.

We believe:
That faith in God gives meaning and purpose to human life;
That the brotherhood of man transcends the sovereignty of nations;
That economic justice can best be won by free men through free enterprise;
That government should be of laws rather than of men;
That earth's great treasure lies in human personality;
And that service to humanity is the best work of life.
