INTRO

Construction platform with high end materials

for the building envelope.

The large number of building projects I see around me in every possible sector often surprises me: residential buildings, industrial buildings, offices, healthcare buildings, shopping centres, … It almost seems as if the financial depression that is hurting the economy so badly doesn’t have such a large impact on the construction industry. However, the construction industry is facing problems such as the abolition of the tax advantage for loans taken out for own and only homes, the stricter conditions for getting a loan, the abolition of renovation subsidies, stricter energy standards, more bankruptcies, the cutting of government budgets and last but not least, the unfair competition with foreign subcontractors.

I wonder if the exceptionally good weather and the soft winters we had last year - that helped to create a revival in the building sector - will be able to compensate for the problems I have just referred to. We all fear that they won’t. But I take note of the concrete measures that are now on the table. The government will have to start acting now, whether they want to or not.

The many people present in October 2014 at BUILTY’s first edition, thé professional platform for large contractors, chose not to worry about it too much. Everyone was very enthusiastic about the various innovations, info sessions, demos and technical presentations to inform the building sector and to get it back on track.

IS THE FAT IN THE FIRE IN THE BUILDING INDUSTRY?

A solid basis for the next edition in November 2015 where these difficult aspects will most certainly be addressed, but where we’ll also discuss the trends and developments in the sector. The building industry will keep investing in high quality craftsmanship in an effort to pull the fat from the fire.

DL CHEMICALS

PARAPHALT FLEX SEAL

Paraphalt Flex Seal is a universal waterproofing sealant and liquid coating for a wide range of projects and basically all surfaces. It is a very flexible product (up to 900%) and makes every surface airtight and waterproof. The product is suitable for rendering basements, roof-gutters, transits, window frames, corner seams, ground level details, flat roofs, shower cabins and pots for plants watertight and can be used for repairing cracks in concrete surfaces.

OTIS

GEN2™ SWITCH

An autonomous lift that works on batteries and that can be charged with a standard socket (220 V). Most other lifts work with 3-phased current (3 x 380 V). This revolutionary lift also works with renewable energy such as solar energy or wind power. Since takes its energy from a battery that is permanently being charged, it will continue to function during a power blackout.

CELLUMAT

CELLU-SYS: HIGH RETURN FOR LOW-ENERGY HIGH-RISE CONSTRUCTION

Cellumat, innovator in cellular concrete, presents its construction concept CELLU-SYS at Builty. It is a solution for low-energy high-rise construction that doesn’t make use of insulating materials. The large modules guaranty a return of 125 m2 per day (team of 3 workers) and a simple finish.

SOUDAL

SOUDAL WINDOW SYSTEM

Soudal Window System is a combination of several products that create an airtight sealing between the joinery and the brickwork. In new buildings there is a seam of about 2 cm, but SWS can also be used for renovation and for all types of joinery: aluminium, wood and PVC. SWS also offers solutions for passive construction (massive-passive). SWS was officially tested on several criteria and for several applications. If applied correctly, SWS offers:

› Air- and vapourtightness on the inside› Optimal thermic and acoustic insulation in

the middle› Protection against wind and weather

conditions on the outside

HSI150-GSM

The HSI 150-GSM is suitable for single sided system sealing with the integrated wall insert with Da =110,125, 160 mm. That way, protective tubing can easily be connected. The HSl150 seals the cables and pipes in the protective tubing.

INTERBETON

The right concrete solution for every phase of the construction process. Inter-Beton develops concrete compositions that correspond to the current demands in Belgium. During the Design phase, Inter-Beton advises you about the various functional and aesthetical possibilities of innovative concrete compositions. In the Build phase Inter-Beton can offer you a wide range of concrete types (standard compositions and made-to-measure), so you always find the right product. This has its impact on the Finance aspect. Choosing the right concrete solution will give you an economic advantage on several levels, whether it is in material cost reduction, labour or execution time.

E-BOARD: ONE ACTION INSULATION & BRICK FAÇADE FINISHING

E-board is a façade insulation system for contractors and DIY ‘ers. It consists of a high quality plate of super insulating eps (expanded polystyrene) that is covered with brick strips on the construction site. The E-Board plate is moulded and therefore strong, non-deformable, pressure-resistant and 100% watertight. Eps is 100% recyclable and is the most ecological insulation material for all plastics. It has an excellent lambda-value: 0,031 W/mK. The closed cell structure of the eps plate retains the air and makes it an excellent insulator. The insulation plates are available with various diameters, from 40 mm up to 300 mm. It insulates buildings up to energy neutrality (U ≤ 0,24 W/m²K for walls). Thanks to the teeth and streaks system it is easy to connect the plates. Afterwards, you can put the strips in the ledge. E-Board is a perfect one-action exterior wall insulation system.
