When I entered the GED class on Tuesday, March 31, 2009, Mr. Temple had a huge surprise waiting for us. It was Osama Bin Laden and 50 Cent in the flesh. I couldn’t believe it. We read about them in class before, but I didn’t know Mr. Temple actually knew them. We thought that they were going to set it off in our class. It was kind of scary. They talked to us about staying in school, being drug free, and participating in sports. They really stressed the importance of education. They said “that education is the key to success.” Osama Bin Laden and 50 Cent also talked about the importance of setting goals. They strongly believe in setting goals and doing whatever it takes to achieve them. Mr. Laden’s and 50 Cent’s presentations were very informative, however there was an eerie feeling the whole time. When I entered the GED class on Tuesday, March 31, 2009, Mr. Temple had a huge surprise waiting for

us. It was Osama Bin Laden and 50 Cent in the flesh. I couldn’t believe it. We read about them in class before, but I didn’t

know Mr. The big story that’s sweep-ing the halls of White Cas-

tle is the attendance of Beyonce’ Knowles to WCHS Senior Prom. This is how it all began. Jontrel was completing his job shadowing for his Senior Project. Little did he know that he was in stored for the biggest surprise of his life. One of Beyonce’s backup danc-ers was injured during a dance routine and went

to the hospital for x-rays. Jontrel was very helpful to

Beyonce and her entourage during the trying time. For his kindness Beyonce’ asked Jontrel to prom. Jon-trel answered yes. We asked Jontrel to comment on his experience and he stated, “When you have a swagger like mines any-thing is possible.” Oh and by the way…

First of all we will like to start by thanking White Castle High School’s students, fac-ulty, and staff for supporting the BullDawg Press. If it weren’t for the support the paper would not exist. We’re now in the fifth edition of the press and we deeply apolo-gize for not formally introduc-ing ourselves to our readers. The BullDawg Press idea began in Mr. Temple’s Pre-GED class when students learned about the importance of the media in society. They felt that our school needed a medium to track the events that occurred. The idea started when Brian Singleton and Tabitha Little wrote an article about the Seniors. Thus came the BullDawg Press. Let’s take an in depth look into the staff of the

BullDawg Press: Hello my fellow students. I’m Jordan Miller aka J. Miller on the track, and my job at the BullDawg Press is to conduct interviews, edit stories, and cover sports. I want to be the CEO, but Mr. Temple’s hat-ing on me. What I like most about the Press is Mr. Tem-ple because without him there wouldn’t be any paper. Hi, My name is Jammie Wil-liams. I am over the comic section of the BullDawg Press, and sometimes I do the photography. What I like most about the Press is drawing the pictures. I enjoy my job. Hello fans. I am Denzel Kelson. I am the BullDawg Press’s photogra-pher. The best part about the BullDawg Press to me is the Ask a BullDawg section. I

also enjoy passing the pa-pers out. The name is Da’Juan Ellis. Im over the student lifestyle section of the paper. I contribute many different aspects to the pa-per, but my favorite part of the paper is the Ask a Bull-dog section. I like this section because it’s funny and gives students and teachers an opportunity for their voice to be heard. What’s up? My name is Jontrel Major and I cover the sports for the BullDawg Press. I’m very happy that we started it be-cause it really supports our school. I would like to give special thanks to my fellow classmates Brian Singleton and Tabitha Little for provid-ing us with the idea to de-velop a school newspaper.

The Art Wall has been the new sensation sweeping the halls of White Castle. The idea was developed by Mr. Temple. He always saw us drawing or doodling in class all the time. So he took what many view as a negative and turned it into something posi-tive, the Art Wall. The Art Wall displays stu-dents artistic talents. You can find pictures of cartons, sing-ers, athletes, and even stu-dents, just to name a few. Many students have contrib-ute to the success of the wall. I personally enjoy having the opportunity to express myself artistically. I feel that the wall

has given me the opportunity to leave a legacy at White Castle High. If any stu-dent wants to contribute to the wall just bring picture to Mr. Temple’s class and we’ll display it.

former gang founder, rapper, and convict who has com-pletely turned his life around. He spoke to the males about looking up to false images. He expressed the importance of education, and having a positive outlook on life. He revealed how the gangster image, that most males want to portray, is really foolish because two things happen to gangsters; the go to jail, or they get killed.

On Friday, March 20 2009, Doughnuts for Dads took place in The White Castle High Cafeteria for the male students of White Castle High. The event featured singing, rapping, and per-sonal testimonies. The speaker for the engagement was Arthur, “Silky Slim,” Reed. He provided the stu-dents with a real state of real-ity. Silky Slim, a product of South Baton Rouge, was a

The success of Coach Hoff-man’s Boys’ Track Team sea-son continued as the boys placed first in White Castle’s annual Sugar Relays. The Boys competed with several school from the local and surrounding areas. The meet took place on Monday, March 30th. It was moved to Mon-day due to the inclement

weather that occurred on Fri-day. Their were numerous stand-outs during the track meet. Senior Darrell Haynes placed first in every event he partici-pated in. He received one of the outstanding athlete awards that were given out during the meet. The Boys’ Track Team will

travel to East Iberville today to participate in the District track meet. Good luck guys and keep up the good work.

The Lady Bulldogs track team finished 2nd overall in White Castle’s Annual Sugar Re-lays. Like their male counter-parts, the girls competed with several schools from the area. The girls are steadily improving every meet and seem to be poised to make legit run at the state title if they keep this up. The strength of the girls track team seems to be the 4 x400 meter relay team led by Sen-iors Porcha Turner and Britt-ney Williams. This team might be one of the best in the state. Their were numerous stand-outs during the track meet. Ronquel “Bunn,” Gibson re-ceived an Outstanding Ath-

On Monday March 30, 2009, our own Ms. Laura Williams represented White Castle at the annual Iberville Parish Teacher of the Year Cere-mony, which was held at the Iberville Parish Optional Edu-cation Center. This is her second year in a row winning the award. Ms. Williams is a dedicated high school Math teacher who eats, sleeps, and breaths the subject of math. She always strives to get the best out of her students. If you ask the majority of high school stu-dents who their favorite teacher the likely response will be Ms. Laura Williams. She strives for her students to not only be successful in just math, but in life. Her biggest influences when she first ar-rived at Castle High were Ms.

K. Coleman, Mr. I Anderson, Mrs. C. Davis, and Principal A. Miller. She said that when she first arrived on the campus of White Castle Ms. Coleman was one of her biggest inspi-rations. “She took me in with open arms and I learned so much from her as a teacher, and as a person. I love her for that.” Ms. Williams stated that the inspiration to be a math teacher came from her bas-ketball coach at Plaquemine High. When she entered Southern University she had plans of being a doctor, but lost interest in the medical field. So her next option was the field of education. That was a good choice.

Ms. Williams has been an inspiration to everyone at White Castle. In a previous issue of the BullDawg Press Drusilla Robinson stated, “that if she could be any teacher for a day it would be Ms. Williams. She inspires me everyday and hopefully I could be as good of a math teacher as she is. The BullDawg Press would like to send a special con-gratulations to Ms. Laura Wil-liams for being named the White Castle High School Teacher of the Year. You deserve this honor because you have been an inspiration to us all.
