Hi everyone!

Our School Intensive Swimming Program began yesterday

and will take place during Weeks 4 & 5. It is vital that we

keep our children safe in and around water. Our school

timetable is altered during this time to accommodate our

travel to and from the pool. Our break times will be as

follows: Lunch at 11.30am to 12.20pm and Afternoon Recess

from 2.50pm to 3.20pm. If any parents/carers can assist with

transport during the swimming program, please let me know

asap. Hot lunches have been cancelled—Weeks 4/5.

On Friday a representative will be visiting our school from

the ‘Responsible Pet Ownership’ program. She will bring her

pet dog and discuss how to care for and be safe around pets.

This will be an interactive workshop however the students

will not have contact with the dog. If parents/carers have any

questions, or do not want their children involved in this

program, please contact Mrs Miller or myself.

Students shared their Home Learning yesterday—it is great

to see the learning which is continuing after school.

Our students have demonstrated their 21st Century skills

through the Home Learning program—thank you to parents/

carers for supporting your child’s collaboration and

communication skills, and critical and creative thinking.

There will be no Home Learning issued during Weeks 4&5.

The teachers are attending workshops focusing on STEM,

(Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics), sharing

ideas with other teachers and familiarizing themselves with

the new Science and Technology syllabus. Stay tuned for

more initiatives to develop our 21st Century skills...

Congratulations to our Super 8’s Cricket teams - both teams

had a very successful day. The Senior team came first and the

Junior team drew with Walbundrie for first place. Thank you

to the parents/community members who helped with

transporting, scoring, umpiring and/or managing our teams.

We appreciate your assistance for making it a great day!

On Tuesday 20th November we will have the Life Education

van visit our school. They will be offering three programs;

Waratah will learn about developing and maintaining safe

and respectful relationships both on and offline; Banksia will

learn about safety, decision making and coping strategies;

and the Pre School children will learn about healthy food

choices. There will be no charge for school students as the

school will cover the cost. We need a volunteer to drive the

van from Mulwala to Burrumbuttock, if you can assist please

contact me asap.

Mrs Sue Lowe, Hume Director of Schools, will be attending

our next P&C Meeting on Thursday 15th November at 7pm.

I encourage all parents/carers to attend as she will share her

data analysis to assist us with future planning in supporting

our students to achieve their personal best.

Regards Ms Lynne Johnston, Relieving Principal

PSSA STATE CRICKET CHAMPIONSHIP Sara is competing in the PSSA State Cricket Championship in Maitland this week. We wish her all the best!

School Intensive Swimming Program Our School Intensive Swimming Program began Monday 5th November. It will run for 10 consecutive days at Gould Swimming Pool. The NSW DEC funds part of this scheme which covers the majority of the instructors’ cost. Our first swimming day was a success with all students participating and challenging themselves. It was great to see Waratah students in their leadership role helping our Kinder students to learn the new routines.

Year 5/6 Canberra Excursion On Wednesday 28th to 30th November Ms Johnston and the Year 5/6 students will be joining the other small schools on a trip to Canberra. It’s an action packed itinerary Including; Parliament House, National Electoral Office, National Capital Exhibition, Aust. Institute of Sport, Aust. War Memorial, National Gallery, Botanic Gardens, and Questacon. Thank you to the parents/carers for returning the notes and payments promptly.

Well Done to our Athletics Relay Team! We are very proud of our relay team, (Max, Sara, Joshua, Ava), for competing in

the State PSSA Athletics in Sydney last week. The team came 7th overall. Thank

you to Archie for being the reserve for the team—ready to run if needed. A great

effort from students and parents to be excellent ambassadors for our school!
