Friends, businesses and sponsors alike were treated to a festive event at the State of Cerritos College Luncheon on Wednesday, Oct. 30. There was an informative presentation by President, Dr. Jose Fierro, who shared some very im-pressive details regarding the growth of the college and the school’s impressive graduation rates.

Several city dignitaries attended the event, as well as a multitude of chambers of commerce. Sponsored by the Cerritos College Foundation, the luncheon featured a multi-cultural offering of delicious food items prepared by culinary students. There were dancers and performers – all students of the college.

Dr. Fierro provided an amazing presentation that featured testimonials of students who have successfully completed

State of Cerritos College Luncheonor are presently enrolled in some of the College’s dynamic programs. He shared that last year’s graduation numbers were the highest in school’s history with over 5,000 students graduating with an Associate Degree and/or moving on to a State University.

Cerritos College has a tremendous impact on not only Cerritos but many of the surrounding cities, as graduates fill viable positions in many of the local businesses and continue to bolster a strong local economy. A very engaged and caring staff has specifically designed highly specialized programs.

The College also continues to seek ways to meet the ever changing needs of the students. They have added supplemental food and housing programs, just to name a couple.

Breakfast at Rosewood’s

In our ongoing effort to provide value to our members and visitors alike, your Cerritos Regional Chamber of Commerce partnered with the Paramount Chamber to host a networking event. This Chamber-to-Chamber networking breakfast was held at Rosewoods Family Restaurant on Oct. 22.

The food was fantastic, the turn-out was great and the event was a tremendous success. Owner, Ramon Puentes and his daughter Araceli were the consummate hosts, and every necessary detail was meticulously cared for and appreciated by all.

The event featured a friendly trivia competition between the two chambers. Attendees were challenged with questions about each city, which historically shares a number of common similarities. It was all in great fun and a great way to introduce everyone in attendance.

For many businesses, networking events can be a very effective marketing tool. The key to a successful networking event is to focus on providing value for the attendees.

In our never-ending quest to provide our members with value, your Cerritos Regional Chamber of Commerce was proud to bring people together at the 4 to 6 Mixer in October, hosted by Stacked. It was also an opportunity to meet the new Cerritos Chamber President, Scott Radcliffe.

Radcliffe joined the Cerritos Chamber in September having seceded another Scott in the process. Scott Smith led the Chamber for seven years before accepting a position at the ABC Unified School District. Radcliffe said he was “overwhelmed and humbled” by the turn out for the event.

Paul Motenko, owner of Stacked, and his staff did a fabulous job of providing excellent service throughout the evening. Attendees were treated to an amazing array of sliders, pastas and salads for the event. Look for another evening mixer in the near future.
