Byron BayNatural beauty, environmental sensitivity, outstanding creativity plus sun and surf – all of these are synonymous with the name Byron Bay. The iconic town is one of Australia’s top destinations for local and overseas visitors looking to experience beautiful beaches, cultural diversity and a town centre brimming with cafes and award winning restaurants. Byron Bay is an idyllic destination – come and discover why!

Byron Bay, a vibrant holiday destination, offers a fantastic range of dining and accommodation options for all budgets, from motels to 5 star hotels, many within walking distance of the Byron Community Centre.

Byron Bay might be the most easterly point of Australia, but it’s easy to reach! With the Gold Coast International Airport just 40 minutes away, the Ballina Byron Airport only a 20 minute drive and Brisbane International Airport under a 1 1/2 hours drive, Byron Bay’s famous lighthouse will be in sight before anyone gets around to asking “are we there yet?”

About

Byron Community Centre & TheatreLocated in the centre of Byron Bay, within walking distance to many accommodation and dining options (and to the beach!), The Community Centre and Byron Theatre, with a capacity of up to 250, is the ideal North Coast venue for conferences, business meetings and functions.

The 246 seat amphitheatre style Byron Theatre can be combined with two break-out rooms, foyers, courtyard and veranda; the venue can be utilised in a variety of ways to create the ideal location for your next conference, event or function. If required, the whole venue can be booked as a dedicated venue for the sole use for your event.

Conference packages are available for Theatre and Meeting Room hire, including all audio-visual equipment, from the projectors and screens to white-board and pens!

Catering can be arranged to suit your budget, from morning, afternoon tea and buffet lunches to opening or closing champagne and canapé events.

The Centre is able to assist with accommodation and activities through our community providers who can cater for your every need.

The Theatre

The amazing ampitheatre style auditorium has tiered seating for 246 people (seating that can be retracted to leave an open space with a 360 metre square sprung dance floor suitable for cabaret style set-up).

The Theatre boasts a full size cinema screen and state-of-the-art projector. It is fully equipped with surround sound and a variety of lighting options, plus essential items such as the lectern and microphones.

The Theatre also has a Steinway concert grand piano. Full technical specifications are available on request and additional AV equipment can be arranged as required through the Centre’s AV supplier partner, AK Hire.

Meeting Rooms

Upstairs at the Centre are the two breakout rooms (The SCU Room and the Veranda Room). The SCU Room is the larger room, accommodating 90 people theatre style; while the Veranda Room can comfortably hold 30 people.

The rooms are divided by a solid partition, which can be removed to create one large room for up to 120 people theatre style. Both rooms have screens and projectors plus whiteboards and can be configured in a variety of layouts (see Meeting Spaces: Room layouts and capacities). Plus, downstairs is the Fletcher Street Room, which can be used as a catering kitchen, or as an additional informal breakout room.

Testimonials

“I want to thank you for all your efforts in making the conference such a success. There were so many positive comments about every aspect of the venue and the organisation of the event as well as quite a bit of jealousy about the actual building as a community asset! I would also like you to pass on my thanks to all those who work and volunteer at the Centre as a sense of community and buzz was evident to all. I felt so proud.”Cr Jan Barham. Mayor, Byron Shire Council

“The Byron Community Centre is a very impressive place to hold a conference. The 1300 plus delegates who have attended the four major international conferences we have hosted at the BCC consistently and unanimously gave feedback on the fantastic ambience, location, friendliness and facilities of the Centre.
