The Campidano Railways Company started the first town tram service on

September 2, 1893 with a steam train, the line:

’Cagliari-Quartu Sant’Elena’ .This locomotive was called

“Sa caffettera”(Coffeemaker) by the people .

In 1913 the tram service was extended to Cagliari beach
