Jojo Mayer and his Band Nerve Saturday, 13th of April 2019 at 19:00 NERVE evolved out of Jojo Mayer’s legendary party event Prohibited Beatz in NYC during the late 90′s. Initially a platform for experimental interaction between DJ’s, visual artists, musicians and the audience, the collective eventually developed into a fine tuned group that cross-pollinated the premeditated format of programmed electronic music styles with real time, improvised music performance. NERVE reexamines and transcends the relationship between human creativity and digital technology and created a new form of musical expression which is completely unique in the world today. In the movie “Lunar Tribute” by Rob Lewis (Switzerland, October 2017) the drummer Jojo Mayer becomes an astronaut of a different sort, interpreting the G-forces of takeoff, the weightlessness of space, the lightness and the darkness of space. Mr. Mayer’s beat is as nuanced as his journey from free jazz to his current project, the band Nerve. Swiss campaign posters from 1918 to the present – An exhibition by the Museum für Gestaltung Zürich Art Academy of Latvia: 4th of September until 28th of September 2019 Clichéd extremes, undifferentiated simplifications, a repertoire of drastic motives and trivial slogans correspond to the laws of the medium, which are geared towards a manipulative direct approach of the masses. However, many well-known artists and designers also created posters that were inscribed into the collective visual memory of the Swiss population and became icons of Swiss poster art. The exhibition “VOTES & VOICES” reveals visual strategies of argumentation and image rhetorical approaches that shape the Swiss voting posters from 1918 to the present day. As a sensitive indicator of socio-political moods and as valuable contemporary documents, both Swiss mentality history and global tendencies are par excellence reflected in them. As before, Zemlika will host live performances by musicians and collectives from all around the Globe, genres ranging from contemporary classical to electro pop, workshops led by artists and musicians, lectures and open panel discussions on subjects touching upon various arts and cultural heritage related topics, and other activities. Reverend-Beat-Man “One Man Band Tour”, 16.10.2019 – 18.10. 2019 Beat-Man started his career in 1986 with his band The Monsters, then formed Lightning Beat-Man One Man Band and changed his name in 1999 into Reverend Beat-Man. He is touring around in Europe, Australia, North and South America, Japan and Israel. He won several national prices in Switzerland for his work and was nominated for the Swiss Music Price in 2014. His music has the roots from the beginning of Blues and Rock'n'Roll but with a “NOW!” touch. This is the purest Rock'n'Roll Switzerland has, it is wild and out of control. Kulturkalender Lettlands und Estlands 2019 ZURICH YOUTH SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA (ZYSO)

The Zurich Youth Symphony Orchestra was established in 1987 by the English conductor Howard Griffiths. Since its foundation, the orchestra has rapidly developed from a string ensemble into a full-size 70 musician orchestra, currently under the musical direction of David Bruchez-Lalli. The musicians, aged between 14 and 24 years old, practice and perform in an educational and cooperative environment which is the reason for their technical and musical maturity and for the freshness and joy which radiates from their performances. For 30 years, the ZYSO has maintained a busy schedule, performing numerous concerts and touring around the world. With a repertoire representing a broad range of styles and technical demands from Baroque to contemporary music, the orchestra always includes monumental works in their concerts, such as the most famous solo concerts or symphonies by Mozart, Brahms, Dvořák, Beethoven, Schumann, Tchaikovsky or Shostakovich whilst considering all the components that make a well-balanced program, designed to appeal both to the musically experienced and to new audiences. Unlike the leisurely summerhouse gathering with its grand inaugural dinner, champagne and cigarettes; where conversation and gossip thrived amongst the intimacy of the endless nights, THE ESTATE at Kim? paints a darker picture, the one focused instead on the politics of the guest list.
