intrOducing calibre seatingcalibre seating is a new range of products from aJ binns. Founded in 1937, the company designs high specification bench seating, hooks and hangers for changing rooms and cloakrooms and has won a Design council award for their hook system.

the ethical chOiceevery product in the range has been designed to make as little impact as possible on the environment: all wood is sustainably sourced all paint is derived from castor oil rather than fossil fuels all products are built to last reducing disposal issues

rigOrOus testingaJ binns believe their commitment to a rigorous testing programme is the foundation of their reputation. aJ binns and Fira (Furniture industry research association) have worked together to formulate testing standards. aJ binns are industry leaders in their field. all of the benches in the calibre seating range comply to Din7917.

this bench can be put anywhere – up against a wall or in the middle of a room. Using concealed floor fixings, it becomes extremely rigid.

ash slats black ash slats laminate slats

the same durable hardwood finished in black lacquer.

For chlorinated environments laminate is more durable than hardwoods. However, it is not easy to recycle or dispose of. Only consider when a hardwood is unsuitable.

extremely durable sustainably sourced hardwood. section: 120 x 20mm with a 4mm radius on each edge. Performs under both static and dynamic loads.

all framework is coated in nylon rather than polyester for durability, and is derived from castor oil rather than fossil fuels. For wet environments, mild steel can be pre-treated with an electro zinc coating prior to painting.

It’s not about benches, it’s about walls...each calibre seating bench has been designed to be used with certain types of wall. the main aim is to use as little steelwork as possible without compromising on the performance of the bench. the stronger the wall the less steel required.

dOt and dab dry lined blOcks if there is a void between the plasterboard and the walls it is not suitable to cantilever the benches off the wall. the cs2000 is ideal as the majority of the load is taken on the floor.

Wet plastered blOcks (sOlid Wall)a wall of at least medium density blockwork is strong enough to cantilever the bench. the cs1000 has no legs which makes it easy to clean underneath. Hilti HrD-Ugt 8 x 60mm frame fixings are recommended.

stud/partitiOn Wallsstud walls are not designed to be load bearing and are not strong enough for fixing into (unless a nogging is added at the appropriate height). the cs5000 has been designed to stand in front of the wall. the floor takes the load and there is no stress on the wall.

ply lined timber stud/partitiOn Wallsby fixing plywood on top of the studs, it is possible to fix onto these non-load bearing walls. the cs4000 is designed to spread the load across the whole plywood sheet.
