BMF Bears and Bikes 2020 details announced

Covid-19/Coronavirus update 17/3/2020

In light of the recent updates, the BMF are currently reviewing all upcoming bmf events.

We have taken the precaution of suspending ticket sales for the time being.

The BMF Management Team will take whatever action is necessary in relation to events

and will endeavour to reschedule if the need arises.

However we will be following government protocols and if we are instructed to cancel

rather than postpone please be reassured that we will refund all tickets.

We will hopefully be in a better position to update further in the near future.

Thank you for your support and understanding at this difficult time for all of us.

The British Motorcyclists Federation’s 60th anniversary Bears and Bikes event will be at Traquair House in Scotland on May 14-17 2020.

BANDS There will be live music on Friday and Saturday on the Walled Garden Stage from the following acts:

Storyteller’s Night

Twisted System

Twisted System are a top-class and authentic tribute to the career of the mighty Twisted Sister. They were set up by lifelong Twisted Sister fans

who want to bring back the raw, high-energy live performances that the band were renowned for and entertain the rowdy headbangers of the UK

once more.

Galashiels Ex-Service Pipe Band

The Galashiels Ex-Service Pipe Band will be playing on Saturday at 1pm.

The Spirit Levellers

Formed in 2005 by frontman and guitarist Mal Kitchen, the Spirit Levellers have added a few more members over the years and continue to

bring the songs and energy of The Levellers to delighted audiences across the UK.

The Gypsies This band have headlined the BMF event at Kelso in 2014, played the Peterborough Arena for the BMF a few times, and now they will be

21st August – Dambusters Rally – BMF

This will be 5th year, held at Thorpe Camp Visitor Centre, a museum located on part of the old WW2 RAF Woodhall Spa. Tattershall Thorpe, Lincoln LN4 4PL. Access to all of the museum displays is included in the ticket price, they have a ride out Sat afternoon, live bands fri eve, late sat pm and sat eve.

Local brewery provides the bar and they have a caterer who provides good food, also sat pm the replica NAAFI in one of the museum buildings opens up and serves fresh cakes , tea and coffee.

Tickets will be available soon, priced at £16 for BMF and affiliated club members, £18 for the rest. Further details please contact Bob Aldam on 07724 136663

Llangollen Motorcycle Festival Cancelled

due to pandemic

This is in Llangollen and due to it being Llangollen Motorcycle

Festival gets busy so we need to book the campsite very soon

and then find somewhere to eat on the Saturday

Can you please give names to Jo ASAP on whether you are

camping/caravan or motorhome please and she can then come

back to you with prices. We know electric pitches are approx

£18 per night.

26th September B and B

The Hotel is great that we have found and very biker

friendly. We can all eat together even if we end up with some

camping or in a different B and B, it is not a big place so even if

camping you are only 5 mins walk from the Hotel.

All of us on bikes can park at the hotel securely and there are

private sheds for the bikes at a cost of £5 if anyone wants one.

Camping is £24 per night and there are only 6 pitches so these

need to be booked soon – if you are a camping and caravan club

member it will be cheaper- Moffatt Caravan and Camping Club

Site

The Hotel has 7 rooms allocated to us. Rooms are £84 for

double occupancy with breakfast and if in a family room and

more than 2 of you it is £33 each.

Advance notice from Bob:

2021 – End of June

In 2021 the International will not be abroad (it is in Scotland) so Joy &

Dave Mellalieu have kindly offered to organise a trip to somewhere they

went to last year, Montilvet in France.

The end destination is a large bike rally in a place called Montilvet and

it is the last weekend in June 2021.

The plan is to sail Sunday from Portsmouth to St Malo and have a Hotel

overnight stop Monday

Arrive in Montilvet Tuesday where we are staying on a campsite next to

the rally site with a choice of cabins, mobile homes and ready erected

tents all with bathroom and kitchen facilities or you can camp and bring

your own tent.

The campsite does a reduced rate for those attending the rally

There is also free camping on the rally campground from the Friday if

anyone wanted to do that – I believe the facilities are clean on here as

well

We then move the following Tuesday after the rally on the weekend to

head back staying at another location until the Friday.

Sail back Friday night, Caen to Portsmouth arriving early Saturday am

to head back up home

The rally is approx. 35 euros for the weekend and then you have ferries

and accommodation on top. A ready erected tent cost 191 euros for a

week with kitchen and bathroom last year and they can sleep 5.

Again we know this is way in advance but this rally is massive and gets

booked up, plus organising accommodation can be hard so Joy is just

after an idea of numbers at the moment so she can look at routes and

accommodation

Jo and I are definitely attending this and it would be really good to have

a centre holiday on the year where we have no international to attend.
