Dear Canyon View Families,
Testing week is behind us and I want to thank everyone for ensuring that your child arrived at
school on time and was prepared to do their best. Testing week always serves as a reminder that
the school year is quickly coming to an end, and its hard to believe that we only have 17 school
days left in the year!
As mentioned in an email earlier this week, on April 29th CFSD parents will receive a request tocomplete a survey asking your opinions about the quality of CFSD programs based on your stu-
dents experiences. We would like to know what you think about our curriculums, the educa-
tional environment, including technology, and our communitys 21st century learning agenda.
The survey is digital so it will include a customized link for your personal access. We hope that
you will take the time to complete the survey. If you have students in more than one school, you
will receive a link for each school. Please fill out one separate survey for each school. If you
have more than one student in the same school, please fill out just one survey about your oldest
student. A high participation rate by parents will give us more complete and useful information
data.
Beginning April 29th, we will survey parents, students, teachers, and administrators in District
16 over a two-week period. In all cases, the survey data will be collected, tabulated, and put into
a report by an external third party. We will never see responses that are identified by an individ-
ual. All of the survey results will inform our next strategic design efforts to identify areas need-
ing our attention for improvement. Note:
We will administer the student survey for 5th grade during the regular school day.
There will be more detailed directions about the survey when you receive it next week.
Sincerely,
Rob Henikman
Principal

Attention, Canyon View Coyotes!
Caught Ya Showing Good Character
We caught 1st Grade - Which grade level is next?
Fourth grade is interviewing kids at Canyon View for good character. Today, we are featuring two 1st grade student
who show good character. Cyrus is a great student in Mrs. Bangerts 1st grade class and Lorenzo is a great studen
Mrs. Fosters 1st grade class.
Kathryn: How do you feel when you show good character?
Cyrus: Good.
Sevren: Why do you show good character?Cyrus: My mom is proud when I do.
ason: Do you think we should add any more Pillars of Character to our school?
Cyrus: No, the Pillars of Character are good.
Kathryn: Why do you think you should show good character.
Mrs. Bangert: Your good character shows what you are inside and if you show good character then you have more
riends.
Sevren: What do you feel when other kids show good character.
Mrs. Bangert: You can get rewards and friends.ason: Do you think we should add any more Pillars of Character to our school?
Mrs. Bangert: No, I like the six.
Kathryn: Why do you think you should show good character?
Mrs. Foster: It makes everyone feel good with each other and if we didnt have it it would be awful at Canyon View.
ason: What do you feel when other kids show good character?
Mrs. Foster: In one way fantastic.
Severn: Do you think we should add any more Pillars of Character to our school?
Mrs. Foster: Keep the six.
Severn: What do you feel when you show good character?
Lorenzo: Good
Kathyrn: Why do you show good character?
Lorenzo: Because its nice.
ason: Do you think we should add any more Pillars of Character to our school?
Lorenzo: Keep the six.
Mrs. Fosters 1st grade class, along with a few other classes at Canyon View, havebeen showing great character by sending letters to American soldiers. The studentshanked the soldiers for all the hard work theyve done by protecting our country and
keeping us safe. The idea came from our school aide, Ashley K., who is going to colect the letters and send them to a radio station in Texas. They are trying to send 5,0etters to deployed troops in the spring. This is a great example of: Caring, Respect, and Citizenship.

Lunch Money Accounts
As the end of the school year is getting closer, if you will be leaving the school district at the endof this school year, it would be very helpful if you could use the money you have left on yourlunch account before May 21, 2013.
For seniors, we will not be accepting any more pre-payments as of April 12 th, and we wouldappreciate it if you could use your lunch money before you graduate.
If you feel that you will not have enough money to last until the end of the school year, pleasedo not replenish your account, but pay with cash instead. Thank you very much for yourassistance with this. Your help is appreciated.

Language Immersion in CFSDIn CFSD, we believe in developing all students cultural competence. World
Language instruction is part of our core curriculum. At the elementary level,
students either participate in our K-5 Spanish program (taught by a specialist
