    Dear Canyon View Parents,

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to serve our students, teachers, staff and parents asthe Canyon View FFO President for the last two years. Our campus has seen so muchchange and growth in such a short time. Here are a few of the lessons that I learned alongthe way...Dream Big!

If you can imagine it, you can make it happen through the Canyon View FFO. Do you seesomething that needs to be built, fixed, or added to improve the lives of our students? In thelast few years, we built a playground, we put up a shade structure, and now we are working

on a project to improve the acoustics in the MPR. We added the Buddy program to wel-come newcomers and we had a lot of fun this year with Dr. Seuss week, the Footprints Walk/Run and the Star Party. Last year we staged Superpalooza MPR Grand Re-Opening and agiant Spring Carnival & Silent Auction. Each of these accomplishments started out as a oneparents idea--and thanks to a supportive administration and a few good parents, they be-came a reality.

    There is Strength In Numbers

The greatest successes at Canyon View come through programs that combine the efforts ofa team of committed students, teachers, parents and staff. For example, educational fund-raisers like the Readathon and the Mathathon couldnt happen without the whole school pull-ing together as one. Just in the last two years, we have raised about $130,000 for CanyonView, thanks to the cooperation and generosity of our whole community.

The Right Time To Make a Difference at Canyon View Is--Now!

Are you waiting for the right time to get involved? Do you assume that some other parenthas more time or talent to donate than you? Wrong! Everyone has something to valuable tooffer and frankly, no one has much (or any?) free time. Just ask yourself: can you name oneplace that is more worthy of your time and talents than your childs school? And there are somany ways to make a difference. If you love reading, help out at the library. If you enjoyscience, be a Science Fair judge. Do you like scrapbooking or photography? Help designthe yearbook. If we all do something that we enjoy that touches the lives of our kids, then itbecomes easy to make the time. If our kids see that Canyon View is where we parents in-

vest our energy, they will follow suit.

    Notification of Pest Control

State Law (House Bill 2135, Chapter 102) requires the school district to notifyparents, legal guardians, and employees 48 hours prior to pest/weed controltreatments.

In accordance with these requirements, Essential Pest, vendor for pesticidetreatment, will visit our school once month to inspect building exteriors, kitchenareas, and restrooms, and to perform pest control treatments of those areas, asrequired. Our current pest control program does not include pesticideapplications inside classrooms. Such applications are performed only if infestationoccurs. Essential Pest will treat Canyon View on the third Tuesday of each month.

Additional information may be obtained from the Environmental Health and SafetyOffice at the district office at 299-6446.
