CAPACITY BUILDING PROGRAMME ON FOOD AND NUTRITION

ICAR-K.H.Patil Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Hulkoti, IFFCO and Women and Child Welfare Deaprtment,

Gadag jointly organised Capacity building of Anganwadi Teachers and farm women on Food and Nutrition

under Poshan Maah on 17-09-2020 at ICAR-K.H.Patil Krishi

Vigyan Kendra, Hulkoti. The programme was inagurated by

Smt. Shobha B. Meti, Vice President, Zilla Panchayat, Gadag

and she addressed the gathering about the malnutrition,

health problems, increase in succesptibility to disease among

women and childrens. Further, she said that women need to

be aware about the balanced diet and prepare the food

accordingly. Further, she expressed that each family has to establish Nutrition Garden for nutrition security

of farm families. Smt. Girija Doddamani, Asst. Child Development

Project Officer, Department of Women and Child Welfare, Gadag

spoke about various schemes of Department for children,

teenagers, pregnant and lactating women. Shri Mallikarjuna Jolad,

Director, SBI-ASF RSETI, Hulkoti briefed about the importance of

meditation, yoga and consumption of nutritious food to fight

against various health problems.

Dr.L.G.Hiregoudar, Senior Scientist and Head spoke on the various programmes organised by our

KVK for September month under Poshan Maah programme. The

vegetable seed kit and seedlings were provided to farm women and

Anganwadi Teachers. Dr.Sudha V. Mankani, SMS (Home Science)

briefed about the importance of celebration of Poshan Maah

programme. Shri S.H.Adapur, SMS (Ag.Extension) welcomed the

guest. The programme was conducted by Smt. Lalitha Asuti,

Computer Programmer. After the inagural session the training on food, nutrition, nutrition garden,

cultivation of vegetables was organised. 92 Anganwadi Teachers and farm women participated in the

programme.

PROGRAMMES OF RASHTRIYA POSHAN MAAH, 2020

The Rastriya Poshan Maah programme under Poshan Abhiyan was carried out for the month of

September, 2020. Under this programme, KVK organised capacity building of Anganwadi Teachers as well

as sensitised women on balanced food, malnutrition, life style diseases, deficiency diseases like Anemia,

importance of fruits and vegetables, importance of millets and it’s value added products. In addition, the

field visits, radio talk, webinar, paper publication, and laying out of nutrition gardens were organised. The

details of activities are furnished below.

WEEK LONG CELEBRATION ON THE EVE OF 150th BIRTH ANNIVERSARY OF MAHATMA GANDHIJI

Government of India has decided to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhiji, Father

of the Nation, at national and international level to propagate his message. On this eve, ICAR-K.H.Patil Krishi Vigyan

Kendra, Hulkoti organised a week-long activities from 26-09-2020 02-09-2020 like online training on empowerment

of women, lecture on Gram Swaraj and Atma Nirbhar Bharat, Debate competition on life of Mahatma Gandhiji and

Gram Swaraj, tree plantation at KVK Campus, cleanliness of KVK Campus, Yoga to propagate Mahatma’s message

culminating in Mahatma Gandhiji’s 150th Birth Anniversary.

FIELD DAY ON INTERCROPPING OF FOXTAIL MILLET WITH REDGRAM

The field day on intercropping of Foxtail Millet with Redgram was organised

under NICRA programme at Beladhadi village on 19-09-2020. The new variety of Foxtail

Millet DHFt-109-3 along with new variety of Redgram TS-3R in the ratio of 5:1 along

with ICM practices were demonstrated. Shri V.D.Vaikunthe, SMS (Agronomy) briefed

about the yield and other characteristics of the new variety of Foxtail Millet and

Redgram variety. Shri N.H.Bhandi, SMS (Soil Science) briefed about the importance of

soil testing and intercropping system. More than 45 farmers participated in the programme.
