CHILDCARE

Play Center & Y-Zone ages 3 months-12 years: While parents are enjoying the programs and services atthe Villages of Carver Family YMCA, their children are divided into age appropriate rooms that are monitored by well trained staff. The Play Centerserves ages 3 months to 5 years. Y-Zone servesages 6 to 12 years. Our program strives to embodythe Y’s core values of Honesty, Caring, Respect andResponsibility. This FREE service is offered to facilitymembers with family or youth memberships. 2 hourlimit per day (up to 8 hours/week).

FACILITY RENTALS

Let us host your next community meeting, a banquet,or a birthday party. Reservations are made on a firstcome, first serve basis and may not be made morethan 45 days in advance. Events must be held during facility hours of operation. Contact the Y at404-635-9622.

Activity Room 1: 100 person capacity. $175 for the first 2 hours. $50 for each additional hour + $50 reservation fee.

Activity Room 2: 75 person capacity. AV equipment ready. $150/first 2 hours. $50 for each additional hour + $50 reservation fee.

Gymnasium: 250 person capacity. $500 for 5 hours (5 hour minimum). $50 for each additional hour + $50 reservation fee.

Birthday Party Packages:

Gym Party – Play in the gym for an hour and thenparty in the Activity Room for an hour. Saturdays, 1:00-4:00 pm $75 registration fee plus $6 per child (20 child max.)

Pool Party – Splash in the pool for an hour and thenparty in the Activity Room for an hour.Saturdays, 1:00-4:00 pm $75 registration fee plus $6 per child

Swim and Gym Party – Play in the gym for an hour,splash in the pool for an hour, and then party in theActivity Room for an hour. Saturdays, 2:00-4:00 pm $75 registration fee plus $75 for 10 kids. $7 each additional child (20 child max.)

Parent’s Time Out ages 3 months-12 years: Lookingfor somewhere to put your little one while you runerrands? Activities include story time, arts & crafts,recreational play, music and movement. Monday – Friday mornings & evenings Saturday mornings

AFTER SCHOOL

Y Afterschool Enrichment Program: Our statelicensed program runs everyday that school is in session. We offer homework assistance, daily snacks,arts & crafts, recreation and more in a safe, caringenvironment. We provide transportation from WesleyInternational Academy, Slater, Kipp Vision, Dunbarand Dobbs Elementary Schools. Offered from 2:30 - 6:30 pm each day of school. Fees are determined ona sliding scale based on total household income.

TEEN PROGRAMS

The Villages at Carver Family YMCA TeenProgram: This program is designed to empowerteens through modeled leadership and characterdevelopment that they can use to serve others intheir own communities. The teen programs representsdiversity and strength among today’s teen generationand presents the opportunity to gain insight intosome of today’s toughest topics. Be a leader andsign up today!

Teen Night: The Teen Center is the place to be forteens. Participants will watch movies, participate inscavenger hunts, dodge ball, 3-on-3 basketballgames, video and card game tournaments and severalother activities.

Y-LAB: Interested in creating blogs, websites, documentaries or any other multimedia design? If so,come join our Y-MAC Lab. We take teen entertainment to another level. Audio production/editing, podcasts, DJing...we do it all!

ACTIVE OLDER ADULTS

Movers & Shakers FREE facility members ages 60+:The Villages at Carver Family YMCA is proud topresent its premier program Movers & Shakers.Mover & Shakers is a program serving the mentaland physical health needs of the older adult population. This program consists of an array ofactivities (such as senior chair aerobics, jewelrymaking, knitting, etc.) geared toward keeping theolder adult population active and fit. Each member is afforded the opportunity to design his/her Y experience. We provide transportation from the following senior residences: The Veranda, TheVillages at Carver Apts., Columbia High Point, TheRenaissance, Columbia Blackshear, Trinity Towersand Lakewood Christian Manor. Space is limited; however, classes are offered on a continuous basisthroughout the year to accommodate all. Pick up aschedule in the Y lobby. Get moving and shaking!

SIGNATURE PROGRAMS

The COACH APPROACH®, An Exercise SupportProcess free for members ages 18+: At the Y, a supportive community is a big part of healthy living.Your membership includes our signature Coach Approach Program. If you need guidance in yourwellness journey, our staff will help you set goals,make a plan and discover activities you enjoy. Yourwellness coach will help you become familiar witheverything the Y has to offer you and your family.

Weight Loss for Life free for members ages 18+:Weight Loss for Life is the next level to our signature THE COACH APPROACH program, whichhas improved physical activity, self-confidence andthe emotional wellbeing of thousands of Y membersaround the country. With Weight Loss for Life, thenext step is establishing wise, controlled eating,using behavioral tools that create long-term dietarychange!

GROUP EXERCISE

Group Exercise Classes for facility members 13 &older: We offer a variety of group exercise classes including strength and conditioning, choreographedcardio, group cycling, and mind and body. Check outour Group Ex Schedule for class days and times.

Water Group Exercise Classes: Water group exercise classes provide significant cardiovascularand strength training benefits while reducing theburden on stress-bearing joints and muscles. This isa workout that is appropriate for all ages and fitness levels. Check out the Pool Schedule for classdays and times.

FITNESS

Equipment Orientation free for members ages 13+:YMCA Wellness coaches are available to answer your fitness questions, provide instruction on how to usethe weight equipment and designate effective exercise routines. Schedule appointments at the Membership Desk.

Youth Policy Guidelines:

• Members 13 & older may use the Wellness Center independently once a Fitness Orientation is completed.

• Members ages 9 – 12 may use the Wellness Center under direct supervision (within arm’s length) of a parent or guardian once a Fitness Orientation is completed. Youth 12 & younger must check in with YMCA staff upon arrival.

• Members ages 16 & older may use the free weight area independently.

• Members ages 13 – 15 may use the free weight area with direct supervision (within arm’s length) of a parent or guardian, once an orientation is complete.

• Members ages 13 & older may participate in group exercise classes.

• Members ages 9 – 12 may take classes if accompanied by an adult, excluding Group Cycling, Body Pump, Resistaball/Stability Ball. If the safety of a participant is compromised, the Group Exercise Instructors reserve the right to redirect a member to a more appropriate class.

• Members ages 8 & younger may participate in age-appropriate classes.

HEALTH SCREENINGS

Blood Pressure and BMI: Blood pressure screeningwill assess the force in your arteries when the heartbeats and is at rest. A BMI test determines whetheryou are within a healthy weight range.

DESIGNATE – Register by age & time

• Infant & Toddler ages 6 - 36 months

A Parent + Child Class!

• Preschool ages 3-5 years

• School-Age ages 6-12 years

• Teen & Adult ages 13+

EVALUATE – Each participant will be skill tested during the first class to determine their Stage ofLearning

ACCELERATE – Participants areplaced according to current skilllevel so they can advance quicklythrough the stages to become aconfident swimmer.

Ratios Rule: 1:12 for Infant-toddler, 1:4/5 for preschool and1:6/8 for all other lessons ensure participants have a trained instructor at every level and ability to help them progressthrough the stages.

Swim Starters: Accompanied by a parent, infants and toddlers learn to be comfortable in thewater and develop swim readiness skills through funand confidence-building experiences, while parentslearn about water safety, drowning prevention, andthe importance of supervision. This group is onlyparent-child lessons for ages 6 months to 3 years,and contains the following stages...A – Water DiscoveryB – Water Exploration

Swim Basics: Students learn personal water safetyand achieve basic swimming competency by learning two benchmark skills:• Swim, float, swim—sequencing front glide, roll, back float, roll, front glide, and exit• Jump, push, turn, grabThis group is for ages 3 years & older, and containsthe following stages...1 – Water Acclimation2 – Water Movement3 – Water Stamina

Swim Strokes: Having mastered the fundamentals, students learn additional water safetyskills and build stroke technique, developing skillsthat prevent chronic disease, increase social-emotional and cognitive well-being, and foster a life-time of physical activity. This group is for ages 3years & older, and contains the following stages...4 – Stroke Introduction 5 – Stroke Development (ages 5 + up only)6 – Stroke Mechanics (ages 5 + up only)

Swim Lessons

The purpose of YMCA SWIM LESSONS is to develop competency in swimming, as well as confidence and endurance. Each class has fivecomponents: Personal Safety, Personal Growth,Stroke Development, Water Sports and Games,and Rescue. Each class also incorporates character values such as caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. A variety of classtimes and types are available throughout theyear to meet your family’s needs including morning, afternoon, evening and weekend options.

Lightning Policy: We close all pools, whirlpools, saunas,steamrooms, and pool decks for 30 minutes following lightning or thunder.

Make-Up Policy: In the event of inclement weather, wewill attempt to make up class on Friday. Please make surewe have a current email and telephone number on file. Inthe event that your child misses a lesson, there will be NO credits or refunds given.

Refund Policy: Refund requests must be made in writingat least 72 hours before session starts.

DANCE & GYMNASTICS

Dance & Gymnastics ages 3-12: YMCA gymnasticsprovides a quality program in a safe, structured andnurturing environment. The program is designed toenhance body awareness, balance and coordination,as well as to build strength and self-confidence.Participants progress by learning specific skillsappropriate for their level. Gymnastics classes are agreat way to introduce your child to physical fitnessand help them build their self-esteem.October – November

KARATE

Karate ages 4+: Youth Martial Arts is offered forboth boys and girls. It is designed to build teamwork, intermediate skills, basic fundamentalsand love of the sport.Ongoing Sessions

BASEBALL

Baseball ages 3-14: The YMCA Junior BravesAcademy brings all of the fun of America’s game tothe youth of south Atlanta. Plus each child sees therewards of self-esteem and achievement extendingbeyond the diamond to include life skills education. Just as important as learning to hit and making thecatch is learning the skills to make the grade in school and in life. February – April

BASKETBALL

Basketball ages 4-14: Originallystarted by the YMCA, basketball is a fun team sport that develops character and teamwork. YouthBasketball is offered for boys,girls, and co-ed leagues. It isdesigned to build teamwork, intermediate skills, basic fundamentals and love of the sport. There are no try-outs on the recreational level.October – December

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCEScholarships are available at the Front Desk forfamilies who need assistance. Scholarships are limited and are reviewed on a first come, first

serve basis. All documentation must be provided and approvedbefore camper may begin camp. Please allow 3 days for application review.

We accept DFACS/CAPS.

Fun with a purpose. That's how we think aboutday camp. You are in the right spot if you arelooking to surround your child with summer fundirected by counselors who were hand-pickedfor their character, their sensitivity to young,impressionable minds and their skillfulness atteaching kids how to be cool without beingcruel. Help us teach all children how to be more honest, caring, respectful and responsible citizens. Yes it’s camp and yes it’s fun, butremember here - we’re on a mission.

Traditional Camp ages 5-10: Day camp givescampers the opportunity to explore the outdoors,learn new skills and make new friends in a caring,supervised environment. Each week brings a newtheme with exciting activities. Weekly activitiesinclude swimming, arts & crafts, camp games andsongs.

Splash Camp ages 5-10: A camp designed for allthings aquatic. This camp, for our younger swimmers, will build a foundation of water safetywith lessons on swimming, boating and protectionfrom the sun. A great way for your camper to getwet and beat the summer heat. Weekly activitiesalso include arts & crafts, camp games and songs.

Sports Camp ages 7-12: Coaches will teach andadminister skill-building games with the help ofcounselors. Campers will learn and sharpen theirskills in these sport-specific camps. Fundamentals,rules and technique will be emphasized throughoutthe week, along with implementing those skills in agame-like environment. Everything is done in a funand relaxed environment. Campers will enjoy othercamp activities such as swimming, arts-n-crafts &traditional camp games.

Summer Camp

Cheer, Dance & Tumble Camp ages 7-12: Currentand former cheerleaders and tumblers will teachcampers tumbling skills & cheerleading styles whilefocusing on proper form and technique. Campers willperform a cheer at the end-of-the-week assembly.Also campers will learn the fundamentals of dancetechniques. Everything is done in a fun and relaxedenvironment. Campers will enjoy other camp activi-ties such as swimming, arts & crafts and traditional camp games.

Travel Camp ages 11-14: Campers travel beyond theYMCA each week to experience athletic, educationaland fun trips. They may get the opportunity to participate in service projects as well. What a greatway to spend the summer!

Summer Leadership Academy ages 14-16:SLAs will refine their communication and decisionmaking skills while serving as Counselors In Training(CIT) and interns in various areas and departments ofthe YMCA. Teens will develop skills that can apply tocareers working with children, as well as basic cus-tomer service. SLAs must complete an applicationand phone interview.
