1 MARCH - 6 MAYA Touch of ColourJanet Matthews Janet Matthews is a multi-award winning local artist working in colour pencil and graphite. She enjoys sharing her work with the community, to remind us of the beauty of our natural environment. Her exquisitely detailed artwork is much-loved for the personality and humour reflected in her subject matter.

A Year in Casey CountyKathleen NewmanKathleen Newman’s beautiful watercolour sketchbooks tell the story of her first year in the suburb she now calls home, as told in words and lyrical drawings. It is a record of the mundane and the everyday – her personal observations and daily experiences moving to a new neighbourhood on returning to Melbourne after 45 years abroad.

10 MAY - 29 JULYHow’s the Serenity? Backyard and BeyondVarious artistsIn celebration of the magnificent Boyd exhibition in Bunjil Place Gallery, capturing daily life from the region, local artists exhibit artworks inspired by their surroundings.

The City of Casey is proud to be home to an array of talented visual artists, working in a range of styles and mediums. The Art Spaces Program comprises four exhibition spaces across the Casey Cardinia Library network and showcases a diverse selection of artists from the community.

The Art Spaces Program plays a significant part in the vibrant cultural life of the municipality. With twenty exhibitions and more than thirty artists exhibiting in the 2018 program, there is something for everyone to enjoy and be inspired by!

2 AUGUST - 14 OCTOBERScratching the SurfaceSheila DaniellsSheila Daniells creates incredible scratchboard artwork capturing her love of animals. These amazing artworks and their precise level of detail have to be seen to be believed.

Nature and FusionJenny ConnJenny Conn creates delightful functional and sculptural ceramic pieces. Her unique jewellery is made from clay in combination with precious gems, silver, pearls and glass beads.

18 OCTOBER - 16 DECEMBERRhythmic Impressions of NatureDale KeyBreaking free of the corporate world, Dale Key turned to painting and was inspired by the great abstract expressionist, Jackson Pollock. Dale’s work contains strong pattern manipulation, creating a vibrant abstract expression of the Australian landscape.

Sacred Spaces - An Exploration of MandalasLee ClementsLee Clements’s joyous artwork is food for the soul. In this series, she explores mandalas – one of her favourite forms of meditation for their ability to promote calmness and contemplation.

20 DECEMBER - 24 FEBRUARY 2019North Stradbroke IslandLynette ArmstrongLynette Armstrong was taught to paint as a young girl by her father, a Minjerribah man from North Stradbroke Island. Her paintings explore the landscape and culture of the island.

Tradition SplitNo Pressure Artists CollaborativeNo Pressure Artists Collaborative comprises two artists, Graham Dean and Kristie Keogh. Their collaboration has produced a collection of insightful contemporary sculpture pieces, reflecting their artistic interests and Kristie’s indigenous heritage.

27 APRIL - 7 JULYCelebration of LightDavid PowysDavid Powys’s stunning, light-filled oil paintings depict familiar scenes around Melbourne, Gippsland, Casey and the Mornington Peninsula.

13 JULY - 8 SEPTEMBEREnigmaMadhumita SatpathiMadhumita Satpathi’s paintings feature scenes from daily life in realistic as well as abstract form. She compels the viewer to look again and consider a different aspect beyond what is visible.

14 JULY – 15 SEPTEMBER Gathering of the Tribes Yarn and Art Featuring artwork from a group of leading artists that participate in the City of Casey’s Social Support program ‘Yarn and Art’ which provides Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island elders and community members with the opportunity to come together to paint and create, whilst having a yarn.

22 SEPTEMBER – 1 DECEMBERImpressions of NatureAlida Parkinson and Margaret HollowayIn celebration of their long-standing friendship revolving around their shared interest in art and nature, Alida and Margaret create delicate watercolours combined with objects found in nature.
