IoT and M2M technologies

Sigfox

impossible today to speak about the Internetof Things without mentioning Sigfox. TheToulouse-based company started a new era ofconnected objects in 2012 with its Ultra NarrowBand revolutionary concept! Everyday, Sigfoxconnects thousands of objects via a wirelesslow-flow network. Water leak detection, temperature and moisture control in buildings, remote metering system, car park availability . . .everything can be monitored remotely. ATIM wasa forerunner and has been working with Sigfoxsince the beginning of the adventure in 2011.After covering France with 2000 base stations,Sigfox is spreading its network at a broad scaleon 5 continents: 60 countries will be covered by2018.

LoRaWAN

This communication protocol created by theGrenoble-based company CYCLEO®, acquired bySEMTECH® in 2013, has become a majorstandard for tomorrow IoT.

based on the LoRa® technology offeringoutstanding perfomances in terms of range andlow-energy consumption.Lots of operators such as ORANGE andBOUYGUES TELECOM (OBJENIOUS) haveembarked on the LoRaWAN® adventure inFrance. ACTILITY® deploys LoRaWAN networkseverywhere around the world and offersNetwork Server services. The LoRa Alliancegathers more than 400 members of whichjuggernauts like IBM, CISCO, ST, and of courseATIM !

Point to point (P2P) LoRa®

Atim-specific implementation making it possibleto communicate on an internal network whileenjoying the robustness of the LoRa® technology.ATIM developed its point to point/multipointcommunication protocol using the LoRa® radiocommunication layer. This enables to interface different products inclose conjunction avoiding the deployment of acomplete network. The avantage is to switch with the same modulefrom the LoRaWAN mode to the LoRa mode justwith AT controls. This allows to establish a local communicationbetween several devicess while having a link witha private gateway or with operated base stations.

IoT M2M

Local Mode FSK

This mode has been used for some years onthe ATIM radio modems. This modulation(Frequency-Shift Keying) works very well foranyone who wishes to establish point to pointor multipoints links on a industrial site forexample. The sensitivities are much betterthan in the past, which allows to achieveinteresting ranges even at low power levels in868MHz, for example 4kms in 25mW (14dBm)and more than 20kms in 500mW (27dBm).The ATIM ARM-SE and ARM-D radio modemswork on this mode in the ISM band (withoutlicence) according to the EN300-220. They areoften used in mirror mode (input-ouputrepetition) or in Modbus, master or slave.

INDUSTRY

The ATIM radio modems have been used in the industrial world for years. There is a wide range of applications: forklift operator calling systems tosupply assembly lines, remote sensors on industrial site, crane bridges, conveyors, construction cranes, automatic guided vehicles (AGV), etc. Oursensors and modems are chosen to manage and improve KPI in variousindustrial organizations.

Wireless sensors allowing to measure soil moisture and pH and to reducepesticides and water consumption, weather stations, tractors without drivers, connected cows . . . farmers are high-tech! The Atim Cloud Wireless® radiomodems are commonly used in fields and in the horticultural sector.

AGRICULTURE

ENERGY

Sustainable development and energy saving: temperature readings inbuildings, water leak sensors, presence detection to manage officelighting. The ATIM radio modems allow to reduce the energy use. For 20years, the ATIM products have also been used in nuclear plants, hydroelectric dams or wind turbines.

SMART CITY & SMART BUILDING

Fire Hydrant management

SMART CITY:ATIM developed a fire hydrant monitoring system for theBAYARD company. This product is IP68 (submersible)and features a ten-year battery life. It sends its statusand operationals informations in real-time via Sigfoxnetwork (water drawing, temperature, movement) andalerts the relevant departments. It is deployedthroughout France in urban and rural areas.

Fire detector network management

SMART BUILDING:SMOCKEO, The connected smoke detector, benefits fromall the possibilities and the good performance of the ATIMARM-Nano radio module. The SNIFF mode allows themodule to keep listening in local mode with a very lowpower consumption (several years of autonomy).

ATIM supports you in the design and industrialisation of your final product with a radio frequencycommunication.

Many projects are carried out each year for our industrial customers, our confidentialityagreements allow us to present all them here.
