Virgin Mary, are a beacon on the hill in the heart of
Juneau. We welcome everyone to participate in our rich
Catholic traditions. As a Christian faith community, we,

worship, and through our relationships.

Renovation Steering Group
Many people are wondering what is happening with our Cathedral Renova-
tion. Fund-raising will continue since it is important to have funds on hand when
a new bishop is assigned; a final decision involving any major project must be
done by the bishop. Recently a survey was sent to all parishioners to determine
how much financial support is available within the diocese. Check the Southeast
Alaska Catholic for details.

Donations Needed for Unexpected Expense
Our Port Ministry Van has been well-used and appreciated this summer.
This week it incurred $6,000 of unexpected repairs. Please consider a do-
nation to help pay for this expense so we can continue to provide this ser-

Hospice and Home Care Needs
I am writing as the Bereavement &
Volunteer Coordinator for Hospice &
Home Care of Juneau, a division of
Catholic Community Service, to share
some information about our program with
you.
Also, in recognition of the typically
tremendous benefit of mutual support
while healing, we are making some
changes to our grief support group. In the
spirit of understanding our communal
needs, we are seeking input from Juneau
residents about bereavement issues that
people want to explore and better
understand. We want to hear your ideas
for what may be helpful in terms of
coping with grief.
We are also recruiting volunteers! We
have various opportunities and are eager
to work with people who want to provide
direct support for patients and families.
We also need assistance with tasks that are
more administrative. Special skills are not
required for volunteering. We welcome big
hearts, and want all to be aware that
ongoing training is essential and available
for our volunteers.
Please consider contacting me with your
thoughts and questions about our
bereavement services, as well as our
volunteer program at 463-6106 or at
[email protected]. Thank you for
your consideration!
