Middle School Youth Group (MSYG) meets on most Tuesdays

from 5:30-7:00 pm. All middle school age youth are welcome.

Cathedral High School Youth Group

The Cathedral High School Youth Group is intended to serve youth aged 14 to 19 at the Blessed Virgin Mary of the Nativity parish and surrounding Juneau area. The group is open to youth baptized as Catholic and those interested in the Catholic faith. The inten-tion of the group is to continue the Catholic faith and traditions at an age-based lev-el. Please contact the religious education office for more information, [email protected].

The focus for remainder of the 2019 year will be the mass, community and Advent. We will meet in St. Ann’s Hall from 3:45-5:15pm.

MSYG Warm Clothing Drive

We are collecting warm clothing donations for those in our

community that need them. We will have a collection box

in St. Ann’s Hall.

Items that should be new: Socks, Hats,

Gloves

Gently used (and clean) items: Coats,

scarves

We will also accept disposable hand and

toe warmers.

Thank you for supporting our youth in their community outreach project.

Locking of the Cathedral

As of this week, we have started keeping

the church locked during the day. We are

sorry for the inconvenience this may be

causing those of you who want to come

in and pray. We have had several

unfortunate instances of theft and

vandalism. So for everyone’s safety we

have decided to limit access to the

church.

If you wish to come to pray during the

day, please come to the side door of the

office and someone will be happy to let

you into the church.

Sunday ADVENTures

Save the date! Sunday ADVENTures will be the 1st

Sunday of Advent, December 1st in St.Ann’s Hall

from 2:30-4:30 pm. Blessing of the Advent Wreaths

will be at 4:15 pm.

The Shrine of St. Therese

National Shrine of St. Therese, the “Little Flower” of Jesus

The National Shrine of St. Thérèse, Juneau is a ministry of the Diocese of Juneau and is located ap-

proximately 22 miles north of downtown Juneau. This beautiful Shrine has welcomed people of all

faiths and all corners of the world for over 75 years. Truly a sight to see!

Hospice and Home Care

Looking for volunteer opportunities? Consider helping out with the elderly and infirmed. Catholic Community Service’s Hospice and Home Care of Juneau (HHCJ) has cared for many Juneau residents nearing the end of their life’s journey through our Hospice Services. Hospice Volunteers fulfill critical roles by providing support to our patients, as well as their family and friends, or by providing administrative assistance to our staff. Volunteers work in conjunction with the hospice interdisciplinary team and under the supervision of the HHCJ Volunteer Coordinator.

St. Vincent de Paul is in need of

Volunteers

St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store is in need of volun-teers: 2-3 people each weekday afternoon to hang clothes in the sorting room.

A person, with a truck or van, willing to take boxes of clothes from the new store to the old store on Tuesdays and Fri- days. 1-hour per week.

Two or more people to help on donation days: Wednesday and Saturday morning from 9:30 – 12:00.

A person to take boxes to recycling twice a week

Thanksgiving Food Baskets

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul invites you to help us, help our neighbors this Thanksgiving with a food basket.

As in year’s past we are looking for home delivery teams and helpers to dispense food on Saturday, November 23rd (more details later).

In the near future you will also see food donation bins in the Narthex of your Church. We typically dispense can vegetables, gravy, stuffing, mash potato mixes, yams, cran-berries and non-perishable pie makings. Closer to the date, we can accept frozen

turkeys, butter, fresh/frozen pies and real potatoes.
