RFDS and the Charleville Health ClinicSince 1928 the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) has been meeting the health needs of rural and remote Queensland. Even though the landscape of health care has changed markedly since then, our vision remains the same; to provide, advocate and facilitate equitable access to a comprehensive range of medical services to rural and remote Queenslanders. Following an approach from the Charleville community and the Murweh Shire Council, to assist them in maintaining general practice services in town, RFDS decided to establish its first General Practice (GP) Clinic.

The Charleville Health Clinic is staffed by doctors recruited by the RFDS and operates in the same way as other private GP surgeries, with fee paying patients having access to Medicare rebates or through bulk billing arrangements.

About the Royal Flying Doctor Service The RFDS is dedicated to providing vital health care to anyone living, working or travelling in rural and remote Australia.

Today, the RFDS provides the finest care to more than 290,000 Australians each year – that’s one person every two minutes.

In Queensland, the RFDS operates from eight bases including Brisbane, Bundaberg, Rockhampton, Townsville, Cairns, Mount Isa, Charleville and Longreach. These bases form a strategic network and help deliver the finest health care to all Queenslanders situated in coastal, regional, rural and remote areas.

Since 1928 the Royal Flying Doctor Service has been meeting the health needs of rural and remote Queensland.
