refers to a system of school based assessment that covers all aspects of student’s development.

The periodicity of the assessment
The entire academic year is divided into two terms. The periodicity of
assessment is thrice in a term.

SUMMATIVE ASSESSMENT (SA)This is the most traditional way of testing.

How will the assessment be done ? A school session is divided into two terms
First term – April to September.
Second term – October to March.
Each term has two F.A and one S.A.
Students will be assessed based on the syllabus covered in a term.

Concepts: Based on regular tests and classroom participation in the subject and continuous observation of the teacher

Points To Remember
Students should keep the record of their achievements/participation in all the activities inside or outside the school.
It is mandatory for every child to appear for both the summative assessments.
If for some valid reasons, one fails to appear for any summative assessment, he/she will be re-assessed.
After obtaining the qualifying grades he/she will be promoted to the next class.

Summary:
The academic year is divided into two terms.
CCE will cover the scholastic and co scholastic areas of school education.
The two types of assessment are formative and summative.
The periodicity of the two types of assessment are four times and twice a year respectively.
Formative Assessment totals to 60% . Summative Assessment totals to 40% .

There are nine grades in Part A of Scholastic assessment and Part B of the same assessment has five grades.
Scholastic areas are divided into formative and Summative assessment and covers academic skills and competencies.
Non scholastic areas cover personality, attitudes , life skills, etc and there are three grades.
If a student secures Grade 6 in the academic areas his/her marks would range from 51% to 60%.
CCE advocates absolute grading. This means that Grade 9 would imply an A2 grade.
