    ness; teams going home

    kids going back to school

    and slightly fewer things to

    do. The hallways are quite.

I cant pop out of the officeand play with the kids any-

    time I want.

    I also find myself every

    year not knowing what to

    do. Its crazy, crazy busy

    from June to October and

    then Blam! seemingly

    nothing to do.

    The summer is nearing an

end and so are the projects

    weve started.

    Summer comes every year,

    and in Cambodia for CCFs

NGO its a time of growth.

It is time to plan, to start

projects weve been waitingto do and it also a time to

    play. The children are out

    of school, teams are com-

ing and there tends to be

    enough funds to make the

    extra tasks possible.

For me summer is a great

high as I get to spend lots

of time with the children. I

    get to know some children

better and lately it has be-

come a time to send chil-

    dren off into adult hood.

    As summer comes to an

end it also brings a sad-

    Rabbit island. Last year

trip to the beach was such ablast, this years it was obvi-

    ous we would be returning

    to the beach.

    The children went home to

    visit with relatives for a

    week. Everyone came

    back this year.

    Some went to a bible

    camp.

    Some went to music class.

There was a few trips to the

    city for some.

    Did a little VBS.

    Birthday parties, games,

    movies and fun and mo

    fun.

    Bible studies, teaching,

    salvations and baptism

There was also a lot of

work to do and most of

    completed.

A Greater Hope orphanageA Greater Hope; where

    did this name come

    from?

The name was originallychosen based upon what

    we wished to accomplish.

It was to raise the eyes of

    the children above their

    worldly troubles and give

    them a greater hope in

    Jesus.

    Early 2000 there were a

    number of organizations

    offering hope and gener-

ally in the form of a par-

ents loss of a child, the

    creation of a grant or

    fund that would give oth-

ers a chance at a better

    life. Its heart warming

and nice but in the end

    what hope was really of-

    fered. It might be rough

    to hear but when you

    dont offer salvation you

    have only given a faulse

    hope. Youve gotten a

    person out of a temporal

    hell to offer them an

    eternal Hell. To offer

    hope not based on Jesus

    is no hope at all.

    We chose an ambitious

    name with the intention

    of topping the earthly

    mindset of what hope is

and placing it where itshould be.

    It has been our intentions

    that our house A

    Greater Hope orphanage

    would be built on the

    Rock; that Children

would be raised up with a

    firm foundation and

    change their country.

    Constantly sharing the

    love and knowledge of

    Christ will not go void.

    Hopefully as we send

    these kids out into the

    world they will stand

    their ground, do whats

right, be just and fair and

look to Jesus in times of

    need.

I also hope and pray that

    in their trust and faith

    they will find great joy

    and blessings in their life.

    ket prices dropped.

    1000 chickens fit in the

    same space and make

    more money than the

    pigs

    Turns out after market

    dropped on chickens that

    crickets in the same

    amount of space will

    make more money than

    the chickens or the pigs.

    Who would have guessed.

We got a cow but she

    doesnt have a name yet.

Shes a bit skinny like allother cows in Cambodia

but well see what we can

do for her. Shots and lots

    of grass to start.

    In July

    Weve increased our

    cricket production and

    consumed the last of our

    rabbits.

    Weve reduce our chick-

    ens stock while the mar-

    ket is down. We still

    raise enough to eat but

    we arent laboring over

    sales right now.

    Turns out though crickets

    make good money.

    We have a 15 meter by 10

    meter pen were we used

to raise pigs at. We use

to have 12 pig until mar-

    upset parents when they found

    out their child couldnt read.

We did offer the extra reading

    classes this year because we

dont have the extra staff like

    last year, but well see.

    We received an amazing stu-

dent this week who is blind.

She can see out of one eye but

she can only read the pages

    when her nose touches the

    book. Shes a cheerfully deter-

mined 7th grader who was top

of her class last year. She

    Our school opened this year

    September 2nd. Weve in-

    cluded grades 7, 8 & 9. Weve

also doubled up our Pre-K &

    Kindergarten classes. Weve

    enrolled more than 350 chil-

    dren with many more wanting

    to enroll but weve turned

down a lot because we are out

of room in grades P-7. We do

    have a number of children

    wanting into Junior high but

    the couldnt pass the tests

    mostly because they cant

    read. There were some pretty

    wants to learn English and

    computer very badly. Im

    egger to help her learn.

    Were also looking to glasses

    and possibly surgery for her.

    Weve employed 14 teachers

this year and have 6 volun-teers; my wife and I included.

    We lack English teachers

    though hint, hint.

We have food shops on the school property now that serves

breakfast and lunch to those who need it.

We are working on the library and it should be open this month

along with having the 5th grade rebuilt. Once thats complete

well have a teacher lounge and get our sanctuary back which is

where the 4th grade is at for the month.

There are some way well be helping the families of the school outthis year. Weve already built two houses for two of the families

    and we have another planned.

We are working out buying a water filter for each family that does-

nt have one. Many of the people receiving wells are families with

    children attend the school.

We are looking into buying an ID card printer, a cheep one. If

anyone has any leads on that.

Were planning to buy a large office copier and produce our own

education material saving us all a bit of money.

We are hoping in the not to distant future to have a nurse at the

school. All that plus a good education.

Learning to tie her first pair of shoes with a little help from her

    friends. P.E. Class, grade 7.

dren will have the ability to

    attend university if they choose.

    Work around the school.

    We have 2 more houses

    scheduled to be built.

We are still adding two more

rooms to the school for grade 5

    and a library.

Our high school kids have been

selling shave ice at our school to

raise a little extra spending money

since their school doesnt start for

a couple weeks yet. The three of

them are making about $10 a day.

Tate is teaching the Sunday school

classes at our church. This week

    bled.
